You probably know by now that my key beauty issue is firming. I have been working on firming the loose skin under my brows and above my crease since I was in my 40s, and it has definitely made a difference.
A while back, I got serious about firming the skin on my jawline. I’ve mentioned previously that I inherited my square face from my paternal grandmother, Sarah aka Sally. I didn’t know her as well as my mother’s mother, but regardless when I look in the mirror, I see a version of her and my dad’s face. My grandmother was a farmer’s wife (they raised cattle in the fishing town of Gloucester MA, go figure), and she was a vegetable gardener, raising veggies for the family to eat. She was a hard worker. Beauty was not her thing. What I remember most about her was her jowls. I do not want them! So I have been on a rampage to firm up the skin along my jaw.
Last year, I wrote about a new firming product from City Beauty: Multi-Action Sculpting Cream (reviewed here). I love it. In fact, I’m on my third jar. I use it primarily as a firming jawline and neck cream though it is also a fabulous hydrator, and it can be used on the entire face for firming. I think it’s just about perfect.
City Beauty UpLift Firming Serum
So I got really excited when I was told that City Beauty (who also makes my absolute favorite City Lips!) was going to be launching UpLift Firming Serum, and I was given the opportunity to try it out before the launch TODAY!
Even before I tried it, I thought of UpLift Firming Serum as a firming booster to accompany Multi-Action Sculpting Cream. You don’t need to use the two products together, but I thought I’d love to try them together since I was already using MASC.
Ingredients and Benefits
UpLift Firming Serum was created to make skin look firmer, more lifted and smoother within 30 minutes. In addition to firming and lifting, the Serum contains hyaluronic acid and other ingredients to intensely hydrate even the deepest layers of skin. The active ingredient, Goji Berry Extract, supports the production of collagen for increased elasticity over time. I need all the collagen I can get. And UpLift Firming Serum also contains a new-to-me ingredient, Sirtalice. I was curious about it, so I looked it up. Sirtalice is an active marine biotechnological ingredient that is derived from microbes found 3400 feet down in the frigid ocean off of Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean. Who knew? What’s really interesting about the research into this active ingredient is that it recharges skin’s energy and creates a V-shaped lifting of the skin within 30 minutes of use. It creates sort of an invisible network that supports and lifts the skin. Wow. Another ingredient from algae gathered from the freezing depths of the ocean, Regenesea, has been shown to reenergize skin, reverse signs of aging, stress and fatigue (I really need this), and strengthen the skin’s barrier function.
How to Use UpLift Firming Serum
UpLift Firming Serum comes in a cool dropper bottle that’s a little different, just like the serum. When you turn the gold cap, the white “button” on the cap pops up as you open the bottle and the dropper takes up the correct dose.
The water-based formula is a icy blue-grey heavy liquid that looks like it came from the icy depths of the sea – and it has a cooling sensation. I apply it to the skin on and under my jawline. I use an uplifting motion with my fingertips from my neck up to my jaw.
My Thoughts
Per the instructions, I have been using UpLift Firming Serum twice a day for about 2 1/2 weeks. And as I mentioned earlier, I have been using it in conjunction with City Beauty Multi-Action Sculpting Cream.
Because I have been using jawline firming products and specifically, Multi-Action Sculpting Cream, for more than 6 months, I have already seen positive changes to my jawline. But I can say that the 30 minute thing is real! I feel the immediate cooling sensation that dissipates, and then within 10 minutes, if I feel my jawline, the skin is definitely firmer. I absolutely positively will continue to use this Dynamic Duo.

I haven’t tried anything from this brand before, but this serum sounds like something that I would really like to try.

Someday, I hope you will get to try City Beauty products. They are one of my favorite brands!
I am totally loving this fragrance free serum. I haven’t been using it with other City Beauty products but I will try that. I know it works well with other moisturizers. I use mine on my face from my jowls upward. Great stuff.

I really want to try these! I need to start thinking of my jawline as well and the serum sounds fantastic!
This sounds like a really promising product!
Interesting! I’m very much into firming skincare lately because it feels like my skin is not as taut as it used to be.

Hi, you say this is vegetarian – what makes it vegetarian but not vegan? Thank you!
Michelle, I will contact my source at City Beauty and ask her. I looked at the ingredient list thinking that perhaps one of the ingredients was derived from honey, which would make it vegetarian but not vegan. But to be honest, I am not sure. I’ll get back to you.
Is this something that actually corrects youe sagging skin over time, or is this something that only lasts 12 hours?
Hi Kim, City Beauty Uplift Firming Serum is meant to be used about once a day till you use up the bottle as the results are cumulative. As you use it, your skin gets firmer and uplifted. It’s not a temporary fix. Hope that helps
Hi again, Michelle. I learned from my contact at City Beauty that one or more of the ingredients of Uplift Firming Serum is derived from either milk products or eggs. That’s why it is vegetarian and not vegan. I hope that helps.
It states above the product is dairy and egg free. But right here you state that your City Beauty contact informed you that one or more of the ingredients is derived from either milk products or eggs. So the product is misrepresented! Correct?
Good catch, Sonja! You’re right that it doesn’t make sense if it’s “dairy and egg free” and if it has an ingredient derived from one or the other. I went back to the website just now to look at the ingredient list and the “details”, and “dairy and egg-free” as well as “vegetarian” are no longer part of the description. When I look at the ingredient list (here is the most current list, since ingredients often changed in products) “Water, Glycerin, Propanediol, Bacillus Ferment, Sodium Hyaluronate, Lycium Barbarum (Goji) Fruit Extract, Laminaria Saccharina Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Flower Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Coccinia Indica Fruit Extract, Solanum Melongena (Eggplant) Fruit Extract, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Ocimum Basilicum (Basil) Flower/Leaf Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Cellulose, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Amino Esters-1, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Hydroxyacetophenone, Menthyl Lactate, Caprylyl Glycol, 1,2-Hexandiol, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hydroxide.”, there is a chance that Bacillus Ferment comes from dairy though when I looked up the original of bacillus ferment, it read that it is found in dirt, water and air as well as natural oils. I found Bacillus-Ferment from a company that makes ingredients for cosmetics, and their product is vegan and oil derived. Lacto-bacillus comes from dairy but this is not lactose-bacillus. Nevertheless, if you are vegan, I would not take a chance on this product. Some of City Beauty’s products are vegan or vegetarian, but not all of them. If you are looking for a reliably vegan skincare brand, check out Derma E, if you haven’t already. Thanks for the comment and the good catch! I have removed “dairy and egg-free” as well as “vegetarian” from the description.
