Urban Decay Vice Devilish Metallized Lipstick from the Naked Cherry Collection

I bought mostly staple items during the Ulta sale for Platinum members, but I felt like I deserved at least one fun makeup item. So after seeing some posts from the newish Urban Decay Naked Cherry collection, I decided to splurge on one of the lipsticks from the collection.

“Devilish” is a cherry pink shade. It caught my eye because I haven’t been wearing any pink lipsticks in ages.

Plus it is one of UD’s Metallized lipsticks, and I like the frosted sheen. I have another one of the Vice Metallized lipsticks, and though I love the shade, the Metallized formula is drying on my super sensitive lips after a while, but I thought I’d take a chance anyway.

First, I heard the siren song of the gorgeous cherry packaging. Both the outer box and the metal case are ombre metallic pink/cherry with a cherry decoration. Very appealing!

The color of the lipstick is super pretty. It’s a most unusual rose pink that tends to change the depth of the shade according to the light.

Sometimes it looks light pink, and other times it is much darker. The “Metallized” formula gives it a nice golden sheen. In fact, it almost looks like a duochrome. Urban Decay describes Devilish as “berry pink with tonal microshimmer”. I’m enjoying the change of pace color and finish. We can all use something different from time to time.

In terms of application, you can’t get away with one swipe and go with this one. I don’t know if it’s the shade or the Metallized formula, but it is stiff and rather sheer. It requires me to go over and over again. I often do about 5 swipes to get the color and intensity that I like. If you notice in the swatch, it is patchy and not full coverage.

It’s relatively lightweight on my lips in spite of all the swipes I make. It looks and feels like a semi-matte lipstick. It’s comfortable to wear because of all the oils and hydrating ingredients in it. This Vice Metallized formula doesn’t feel nearly as drying as the one I bought last year.

In terms of wear, I get about 3 hours or more if I don’t eat or drink a lot. To be honest, I seldom “need” a long wear lipstick unless I’m working or at an event where I can’t reapply my lipstick. As this wears, it does leave behind a flush of color on my lips.

The MSRP on Urban Decay’s Devilish Lipstick is $18 for 1.0 oz/5.4 g. Buying it during the Ulta sale at 20% off made it seem like a decent deal. I’m seeing it at Macy’s for $15.30. Sephora is having it’s VIB sales around now.

But is Urban Decay Devilish Lipstick a must-have? I would say no, though I like it enough. Having to swipe a million times to get enough color and the relatively short wear time will be a deal-breaker for many. But if you’re looking for a girly, shiny, pretty pink, give it a go.

From what I read of the reviews on Sephora and Ulta, “Cherry”, the dark vampy satin finish shade, gets good reviews. You can pass on “Juicy”, the sheer glittery shade.

    1. That’s great news! You’ll have a ball at Ulta! UD Vice Devilish is on the sheer side, and I am disappointed that I have to put on about 5 swipes for the color to show up. I think you could pass on this one, but check out Cherry instead!

  6. I’ve been lusting after this lipstick, I have a LE Too Faced lipstick that is very similar called Wham that I love!

    1. I am somewhat disappointed by UD Vice Devilish. I really have to cake it on to get the color to show up. It’s just not pigmented enough for me. I didn’t realize it would be sheer-ish. I’m sure your TF lippie is better.

  7. That is such a cute shade! I love the shift it has.

    1. The shift is my favorite part of this too sheer lippie

  8. It looks pretty on you – I don’t think it’s for me though. I have it and it looks okay but I don’t like the ultra shimmery ’80s vibe I get from it. I’m more of a creamy matte girl.

    1. I like the shimmer, but the shade is much sheerer and less pigmented than I expected.

  9. It’s a very pretty color, but the formula doesn’t sound like something I’d really enjoy!

  10. I love how it looks on you! I would have to agree with you that this shade isn’t a must-have but it’s something worth trying 🙂
