Vanity Planet Revive Face & Body Ice Roller

I know I’ve complained to you all about my post-surgical neck problems. And I think I may have mentioned that the surgeons must have nicked or dislodged my trigeminal nerve that has been giving me a hard time with “trigeminal nerve neuralgia”, though it is slowly improving.

Before I went to the Physicians Assistant for my ultrasound and post-surgical appointment, I ordered the Vanity Planet Revive Face & Body Ice Roller from Ipsy. Ipsy subscribers get reduced prices on lots of products, and I thought spending $12 on the roller would be worth it to see if an icy cold roller would help my neck under my chin feel better and maybe be less swollen. Wouldn’t you know the PA told me after I placed the order that I should use heat on my neck, even though I thought you used heat on a new injury and mine is no longer “new”.

What Is Revive Face & Body Ice Roller For?

Revive Professional Face & Body Ice Roller is designed to roll it over your face, neck, and décolletage to:

  • improve blood circulation
  • depuff and reduce swelling
  • soothe redness and irritation
  • brighten dark under-eye circles
  • tighten the jawline
  • minimize the appearance of large pores.

In addition to using it for skincare issues, Revive Face & Body Ice Roller can be used to soothe bug bites, sunburn, help sore muscles, or to make skin feel more comfortable before or after cosmetic procedures.

My Early Experience and Results

I decided to try the Face & Body Ice Roller to see if cold therapy might make a difference for me, especially since it’s supposed to reduce swelling. As I’ve mentioned numerous times, I feel like I have a heavy leather scarf wrapped about the front of my neck, and it’s very uncomfortable. I also hoped the ice roller might mitigate the “electric shock” sensation that I get along my jawline.

I removed the stainless steel head from the handle by popping it out, and I placed it in the freezer. You’re supposed to freeze it for at least two hours. I think I left it in there longer than that. I clipped it back into the handle.

I ran the stainless steel head along my jawline and on the skin under my chin. The handle and roller are very simple to use. It moves as smooth as silk.

Though my jawline is numb as well as sore from my trigeminal nerve injury, the Ice Roller was still too cold and uncomfortable for me. My neck turned red from the cold, and it took about a half hour for it to return to normal.

Although the Vanity Planet Revive Ice Roller from the freezer was too cold for me to use during the cold early New England spring, I haven’t given up on it totally. It might be very refreshing on a hot summer day or evening. Also, I have discovered that the stainless steel head remains cool to the touch, even though it hasn’t been in the fridge or freezer in weeks. I can handle its natural state of coolness and run that over my jaw and neck, and it feels pretty good! Though my jawline and neck are not back to normal yet (I’m not giving up on getting them back to normal!), they are improving. I think the Ice Roller (without freezing it) still helps me feel better.

Vanity Planet is sold out of the $19 Revive Ice Roller now, but it’s still available at other retailers such as Best Buy (where it’s $14.99), Walmart.com, and Amazon.

  2. Perhaps try it again once the weather warms up, and let it thaw out for a while before you use it, (and maybe avoid your neck altogether for a while). I really hope that your trigeminal nerve injury heals up soon– as I imagine you are more than ready to move beyond this! At least your Nurse Practitioner told you to use heat, Allison!

    1. Yesterday, my ophthalmologist gave me a nasal spray that was originally meant to help smokers quit smoking that has an ancillary use for those with dry eye. He told me that trigeminal nerve damage affects the eye (esp. the left eye) by making it drier than normal (I already have dry eyes). So I’m trying that now. We’ll see. And yes, you are right – I am so ready to move on! xo

  3. I love using an ice roller, I also run into the same issue where they are so cold I can barely use them. In those cases I use a paper towel as. Barrier between the roller and my skin and it helps

    1. Thanks, Claudia, for that tip! I’ll try it!
