For me, holiday time is one big sale shopping experience.
This December, I couldn’t resist trying Pat McGrath’s limited edition LuxeTrance lipstick that was on sale for $10 including free shipping, marked down from $40. Definitely a worthwhile splurge.
I chose McGrath Muse, a warm red. I figure with my red hair I can get away with some warm-toned shades even though my skin is cool-toned.
LuxeTrance lipstick is a creme formula with a satin finish. It covers quite well in one swipe. It’s easy to apply, though I probably should have used a lipliner when I applied it for this photo. More because it would have helped me stay on my natural lip line than because it migrated. It’s a formula that stays put.
It lasts for several hours if I don’t eat or drink. I would say that it’s neither hydrating nor drying. It’s a very different formula from the BlitzTrance Lipsticks that I reviewed last fall (reviewed here).
All in all, LuxeTrance is a wonderful, highly pigmented lipstick.
The black metal case with the gold trim and lips is another lovely package from Pat McGrath Labs.
And even the outer box with the unusual closure is cool.
I’m wondering, however, what’s going on with LuxeTrance Lipstick? On the Pat McGrath Labs website, all of the shades are listed as sold out. However, on Sephora’s website, all the shades but one (so 23 shades) appear to be available for full price, $40. I hope that Pat McGrath isn’t discontinuing this line. Maybe she’s just launching a whole new set of shades? If you have any inside info on what’s happening with LuxeTrance, please weigh in!

$10.00 is such an amazing deal! Hopefully this means new colors rather than discontinuing that range of lipsticks! I love this color on you, Allison. It amazes me that you are able to wear warmer lipstick shades because of your red hair. Like you, I have a cool-toned complexion, and colors such as this wash m out and make me look sallow! On you, however, this color is flattering and sophisticated! Love it!

I am lucky that changing my hair color has definitely given me more latitude in the colors of makeup and clothing that I can wear!

I remember DiEtta that you are a long time fan of Dolly from Buxom. And gee, I didn’t realize that Buxom is part of the BareMinerals family. I must be snoozing on the job! I used to have more opportunities years ago to wear red lipstick than I do now, but I still love it. I used to wear a lot of corals and reds, but most of the time now I have been wearing mauve shades. I do want to get myself a pretty medium pink for spring. Keeping my eyes open for the next sale 😉 On a different topic, how has your crafting been going?
Allison crafting is going good. I’m still crocheting and still loving it. I’m am just getting back to it, we lost my Dad (92 yrs. old) October 6, 2019. It’s been really hard. We were very close. At the moment I am crocheting a few Chemo Caps for a friend who is going thru treatments for Breast Cancer. I am still enjoying making cards too. Hugs…..🥰❤️🍷
Oh, DiEtta, I am so sorry to hear about your dad’s passing! I know how hard that is. No easy path back from grief.
But I am glad to hear that you’re still crafting. And lovely that you’re making chemo caps. I fell off the crochet wagon, but I hope I’ll get back on again since I have a lot of yarn and a few patterns waiting in the wings. I had cataract surgery in early November, but I haven’t had the second eye done yet (early Feb.), so my two eyes are vastly different, and I can’t see well enough to crochet. I hope that I will be able to get used to crocheting wearing reading glasses in the future. I have been near-sighted since I was 11, so being far-sighted has its plusses but also minuses.
That’s a beautiful color on you. I just have one Pat McGrath lipstick and I love how it feels on my lips.

I have become such a fan of both LuxeTrance and also BlitzTrance (it grew on me!). For $10, I lucked out!

What a steal for $10! I am also curious about what’s happening to the range. I do hope they’re not getting discontinued because that formula is marvelous.

I am hoping that Pat McGrath Labs is just planning to come out with a bunch of new shades. The formula really is marvelous, kind of between a cream and a matte.
