White Sands Orchid Bliss Revitalizing Shampoo and Conditioner for Color-Treated Hair

I spend a lot of money keeping my red hair red. Red is a PITA hair color because it fades so fast, but hey I like the red, and I do what I can to keep it looking good. My coarse hair also requires flat ironing so that’s an added stressor. So even when I am buying my own haircare products, I spend more on shampoo and conditioner because they can make it or break it when it comes to my color.

Although I have been especially happy with StriVectin’s Anti-Frizz haircare line that launched in 2016, I read a review of a brand I was unfamiliar with on a sister blogger’s website, Prime Beauty Blog, and I decided I would try it too after the company contacted me in response to my comment on Cindy’s blogpost. The brand is White Sands, and I received Orchid Bliss Revitalizing Shampoo and Conditioner to try out.

First a word or two about the brand. White Sands is a family owned corporation that started from scratch at the end of the 1990s by the Salas Family. They began by hand filling bottles from buckets in their garage. The family got the word out about White Sands products by participating in beauty shows: Fernando, the stylist styling hair on stage, and his wife, Patricia selling kits of the products he was using. The rest is history.

They now have an extensive haircare line targeted to haircare professionals as well as consumers. I think Orchid Bliss Revitalizing Shampoo & Conditioner may be relatively new items in their lineup. Importantly, the duo is sulfate free for color-treated hair like mine. The pair also provide frizz control, moisture balance and impart shine. Yes to everything! So how do they do that? Orchid extract fights free radicals by protecting the hair, reduces the appearance of split ends, leaves hair shiny and color vibrant.

Here’s some more information on the key ingredients. As you’ll see, the formula is chock full of natural oils and other natural ingredients.

  • Sunflower Seed Extract offers natural hair color and UV protection
  • 3X more effect than shampoos with only Vitamin E
  • Grape Seed Oil is a rich source of antioxidants
  • Ginseng Extract infuses hair with fullness
  • Jojoba Oil acts as a moisturizer and improves the hair elasticity
  • Flax Seed Oil for softness and to contribute to the overall health of the hair
  • Avocado Oil for moisture
  • Carrot Seed contains beta-carotene, which is high in natural antioxidants and Vitamin A
  • Olive Fruit is high in antioxidants and Vitamin E with natural moisturizing properties
  • Apricot Kernel is high in Vitamins E and B17 as well as omega 6 and 9 fatty acids and has natural softening and moisturizing properties

The formula also contains Hydrolyzed Soy Protein. I’ve always wondered what that does, and from this benefit list, it looks like it does a lot!

  • Strengthens hair and builds body
  • Provides moisture retentive, protective and sealing films
  • Adds shine, body and manageability
  • Mitigates damage due to perming, bleaching and hot combing.

I have had great results with Orchid Bliss. My hair has come out shiny, super soft and manageable. I have to flat iron my hair regardless of what products I use, and after flat ironing, my hair is straight, smooth and even shinier.

Another thing I love about using this duo is that I can often wait 5 days till my next shampoo because my hair stays cleaner longer IMHO. The longer I can wait in between washing, drying and flat ironing, the better my color stays in. Yay! The above photo was taken almost a month after my color was done. I’m very pleased!

The aesthetics of Orchid Bliss Revitalizing Shampoo and Conditioner are very pleasant. I was concerned that “Orchid” Bliss would smell like orchid, a scent that can be too much for me. But Orchid Bliss Revitalizing Shampoo and Conditioner both have a very faint fresh scent that is almost imperceptible during use. The shampoo doesn’t make a lot of lather, but it makes just enough. It cleans well and rinses clean. I like a little bit of a squeak, and I get that. The conditioner is thick, and it removes all my tangles easily.

The bottles themselves are simple but well designed. They’re easy to grab by the “waist” in the shower. The shampoo and conditioner are each easily identifiable by the color of the pump. The pump itself is wonderful! So much easier to use than the other shampoos I’ve got where I have to turn them upside down and squeeze out of a small opening on the top. Give me a pump any day!

I’m very pleased with White Sands Orchid Bliss Revitalizing Shampoo (9.5 fl. oz. $20) and Conditioner (9.5 fl. oz. $21). They also come in a liter size. Check out the complete product line on the  White Sands website.

    1. Glad you testing them out too. For me, they have given my former fave StriVectin Anti-Frizz a run for their money!

  2. Thank you for the really thorough review! I used to be a redhead and I know the agony involved in keeping the color fresh and vital looking. I’m now a blonde and my fear is the color turning a brassy shade.
I was really, really impressed when you mentioned that the conditioner made your tangles so very manageable.
Between those two concerns, I think I’m going to look for White Sands now. Maintenance and good products are key to keeping your hair looking bright and healthy.
