ybf Colour Intensity Lipstick

Today was a busy day. I went to Boston to get my hair re-redded at Vidal Sassoon. It ends up being a whole day affair. Of course, I had to go to Eataly (have you been to Eataly?) to pick up Italian meats for dinner before taking the subway and then the train home.

So it’s a relatively short post today. But since I assume most of us are in holiday mode – shopping for gifts and for holiday makeup, I wanted to let you know about a great new lipstick that I recently discovered.

Now, I have at least 100 different lipsticks, but I’m always eager to try something new. I was introduced to ybf Colour Intensity Lipstick, and it has really impressed me. Big time.

ybf Colour Intensity Lipstick delivers highly pigmented (intense!) color with a semi-matte finish that is comfortable to wear. To be honest, I didn’t read anything about ybf Colour Intensity Lipstick before trying it. I just went for it.

It comes in an attractive slim black plastic case with metallic red writing on it. The shade is shown at the top of the case.

The bullet is slanted for easy application. I received the shade, Vivacious. Although it is described as “burgundy wine”, mine looks like a pink-mauve that looks lighter or darker depending on the lighting.

In this lighting, on my lips, it does look like burgundy wine! I love it. It’s my perfect go-to neutral shade.

ybf Colour Intensity Lipstick applies very smoothly for full coverage in one swipe. It’s described as having a “soft, luminous finish”, but to me, it’s semi-matte.

Over time and I mean over a loooooooooong time (like 5 hours or more), the color fades but it fades evenly. It still looks like I’m wearing lipstick as it fades. In fact, it also lasts quite well through light eating and drinking. I was amazed that after a cappuccino, glass of water, container of yogurt, and a little cookie, it stayed on. After eating my mortadella sandwich on a crusty baguette from Eataly, it faded a bit more in the center of my lips, but it still looked like I was wearing lipstick. Impressive.

When I first applied the lipstick and saw the semi-matte lipstick, I was concerned that my dry lips that have been drier lately might get dry wearing this new lipstick. Well, I was wrong. In fact, my lips have been less dry as a result of wearing this lipstick. It contains Vitamin E and Jojoba Seed Oil, and I can definitely feel their presence in this non-drying, lightly hydrating formula.

My friend, Marcia, always asks about fragrance in the products I write about, and for good reason. Not everyone likes fragranced makeup and skincare. I took a good sniff, and I do not smell a fragrance. I smell nothing. And it has no taste.

Vivacious is one of four shades in a set – ybf Color Intensity Lipstick 4-piece – that is sold on HSN for $35 shipping included. The shades are:

I think this set would be a wonderful gift or an individual lipstick would be a great stocking stuffer for a lipstick lover. I think these are the perfect lipsticks to wear to a holiday party. The color is saturated and beautiful, it lasts, and it doesn’t dry lips. What more could you ask?!

    1. From what I read, Marcia, some ybf lipsticks have a fruity or floral scent, so I checked this one and it definitely does not. One woman who purchased from HSN said that she got a set that smelled bad, but I think that was an anomaly. My lipstick is fine and unscented. Kristina got one too, so we’ll see if she confirms the scentlessness! It is a decidedly terrific formula!
