Zoya Nail Polish, Tinsley: More Rose Gold for Spring

Rose gold has been hot for months. I started seeing it last summer, and it was everywhere this past autumn and winter. Thankfully, it’s still here for spring. Rose gold is my favorite metallic. As I’ve mentioned before, it looks great on redheads. But I think it looks good on everyone because it’s such a soft shade that flatters every skin tone from light to dark.

I already own two rose gold nail polishes: one from CoverGirl and one from NailTini. I like them both. But when I saw Zoya Tinsley, I didn’t immediately think rose gold. In the bottle, Tinsley is a mixture of peach, pink and gold shimmer. Zoya’s website describes it as “rose gold foil metallic”. But it’s definitely in the pink/peach family, and it has a gorgeous shimmer on the nails that’s different from the swirly metallic finish I get from the CoverGirl and NailTini polishes.

On my nails, it’s an opaque, shimmery rose gold that’s almost like a ripe peach on the tree (I took the photo below at Cider Hill Farm in Amesbury MA where I go to pick fruit for my peach pies and peach jam).

Tinsley is a lovely shade that looks good now and will look even better with a little bit of a tan (yes, I do wear sunscreen!). Zoya says it’s both “warm” and “cool”, so everyone really can wear it!

Zoya Tinsley goes on in minutes. I applied it on top of my usual Revlon Colorstay Basecoat, and the two thin coats of Tinsley dried quickly. I followed it up with a coat of Deborah Lippmann super-glossy Topcoat, and then a coat of Orly Sec ‘n Dry.

Leaving nothing to chance, I finished up with a drop of my new fave, essence Nail Art Express Dry Drops. My nails dried immediately. For $2.99, buy these essence Express Dry Drops. You won’t regret it! essence is sold at Fred Meyer, HEB, select Walgreens, and Ulta.

essence Nail Art Express Dry DropsAs I’ve mentioned in previous posts, Zoya is 5-free and cruelty-free. I just read a great article from Redbook listing 10 Non-toxic Polishes that Actually Work, and Zoya was right there!

The bottle holds 0.5 fl.oz. It’s made in the U.S., and it’s priced at $9. I bought it at Ulta with my 20% off coupon, but Zoya is also sold on their website zoya.com, on Amazon and at salons.

I have so many favorite nail polish shades it’s ridiculous! How about you? What are your current faves?

For sure! but with more gold, less purple. I need Bad Fairy, too 😉

  2. I recently picked up the OPI sheer tint polish in purple and pink ( I love the purple, pink is meh). I like the sheer tints very much as I’m not one to wear dark or bright colors on my nails very often.

Monica, there’s a mini-set of OPI sheer tints on Amazon for about $10. Is it worth it? $10???

  3. I need that nail polish! The colour is so gorgeous!

Instead, I’m not a fan of those drops. When I tried them, they run down all over my hands, turning them into a sticky mess! Maybe I was doing something wrong?

I can understand that, Gio. It can be a little messy. I drop on the tiniest amount and it still seems to work. If I put on too much, I have either a Q-tip or a cotton round ready to sop it up or I let it dry and just peel it off. But I know not everyone wants to deal with that.

  4. Ooo this one reminds me of a Revlon I had just before my daughter was born. I’ve never tried Zoya for it’s not that easy to find here. This week I took a break from bold colors with a nude but got a beautiful purple that I just can’t wait to put on. 🙂

This is a fun shade, Helene. Too bad that Zoya isn’t available because it’s a great brand: lots & lots of shades, affordable, long-lasting & 5-free. I’m surprised that they’re just sold at Ulta and at salons.

  5. That is a beautiful color!
