Zoya Paloma Nail Lacquer: A Raspberry Jelly

Zoya had an amazing promotion a few weeks ago that I took advantage of. I ordered four shades one of which was a jelly named Paloma. I had never tried a jelly polish before. Frankly, a couple of years ago, I had no idea what a jelly is. Just like cream, matte, glitter, sheer etc., jelly refers to how the polish looks once it’s dry. Jelly is sheer-ish and glossy. It’s been described as like “lipgloss for your nails”. I think it has a fun, fresh look. Like a jelly bean!

I Bought This

Paloma is a raspberry jelly.  Zoya calls it a deep fuschia-berry. I love the bright shade. Very jelly bean-ish.

Now, this was my first time using a jelly, and it was indeed sheer, sheerer than I expected. I believe I put on at least three thin coats of Paloma. Maybe it was four coats. I wanted the color to come through. The Zoya website says that it’s “sheer buildable color”, with 1 coat = sheer and 5 coats = opaque, and you can do as many or few coats as you like to achieve the look you’re going for.

The three or four coats that I did still has some sheerness, but I like it a lot. I want more jellies!

Also, Paloma, perhaps because it’s a jelly, seemed to dry faster than a cream polish. Yay for that!

Zoya Paloma is priced at $10. It’s cruelty-free and 5 free.

What do you think? Do you like jelly nail polish? Do you have a favorite jelly that I should know about?

  1. I have read LOTS of amazing reviews on Zoya but this is the first I’m reading about this jelly thing. The shade is really pretty, Allison and I love how shiny it is! Did it take long to dry?

    1. Thank you for the great question, Shireen! I’m going to add it to the post. The jelly polish, Paloma, dried in an instant! It seemed to dry faster than a cream polish.

  2. I actually love jelly type nail polishes because I love sheer colors on my finger nails. I purchased OPI’s sheer tints and love them, but the polish cracks and flakes off .. so disappointing. How does the Zoya wear?

    1. Zoya’s Paloma lasted me just about a week. I took it off because I needed to change shades. I have pretty good luck with Zoya across the board.

  5. This is so pretty! I don’t know how I feel about jellies, I always want them to look more opaque! But jelly sandwiches are so fun and this color is beautiful!

  6. I’ve never used a jelly before, so thanks for the explanation! Five coats for opaque color? Yikes! Depending on the color, I might like how some colors look sheer, though.I know in these pictures, your polish doesn’t look sheer or see-through at all. I like the idea of it drying quickly. I always seem to ruin my manicure because I suddenly feel like I need to do ALL THE THINGS while my nails are wet!

    1. It’s actually supposed to look at least somewhat sheer to give the jelly effect. It’s really fun to use this formula for a change!

  7. I’ve never tried a jelly polish! I don’t like when my polishes are sheer, but if it’s buildable to something more opaque then that sounds good to me! It’s a super pretty color.
