Zoya Professional Nail Lacquer in Giovanna: Inspired by Pantone’s Emerald?

Pantone’s color of 2013 is emerald, and I have enjoyed experimenting with this shade more than the colors of previous years (orange, yellow). Just looking in my closet and in my jewelry box, I realized I have a lot of emerald. Since 2013 is marching right along, I’ve been trying to wear emerald more often.

Enter the October, Art of Beauty, ipsy bag. My favorite product among those selected for me in this month’s bag was the Zoya nail polish in Giovanna. When I first received it, I thought it looked like a deep turquoise with more blue than green. But when I applied it last night, I saw that it is a true emerald. The shade is just gorgeous. It’s a captivating metallic. Friends who I saw today said it reminded them of a mermaid. I agree!

This is my first experience with Zoya, and it’s a real cut above. It has a normal size brush, but the polish is thicker than some similarly priced brands. In fact, I was thinking I probably could get away with one coat…but I gave it a second coat to be sure. Surprisingly, it dried rather quickly.

Zoya costs around $8 for 0.50 fl. oz. It’s available at Ulta, Amazon, other online retailers, as well as nail salons and spas. If you’re looking to buy it in a retail store, Ulta may be your best bet. Or go to zoya.com and use their store locator, but call first since the salons/spas that are listed may not have the full product line.

The other good news about Zoya is that it contains no Dibutyl Phthalate, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, or Camphor. I know I’ll be buying more of this brand. Here are the ingredients that are in Zoya nail polish:

Thanks so much, Amber! When I noticed that the beads on my new necklace were emerald, I figured I’d throw them in. Should’ve put in my green Alexis Bittar earrings too but thought it would be overkill. I love this metallic emerald shade! I hope next year’s color of the year is as nice 😉

  3. Beautiful green polish! My fav polish from Zoya is Mikka which is a beautiful wine purple. Zoya the company annoys me because one time they wouldn’t honor a dated promotion which arrived in my email box 2 days late. Zoya was like “to bad so sad” follow us on facebook for more promotions .. bleh.

If I must buy Zoya, then I’ll pick it up at Ulta.

Geez, I would feel the same way. Zoya missed an opportunity to have a customer for life by not honoring the promo. Boo! But I’ll check out Mikka. I like that Zoya is “5-free”

  4. What a beautiful shade of green. It’s obviously a big time favorite of yours. I got the blue in my Ipsy bag and I’m mad about it. Nice to discover your blog.

Thanks, Marcia, for your comment. Yes, I do love the emerald green polish from Zoya! I saw pix of the blue, and I would have loved that one, too. Guess with my red hair, ipsy decided on the green for me! I would love to subscribe to the Wantable Box too but it’s a little pricey. Nonetheless, I am dying to read your review to see what I missed.
