So far, old man winter hasn’t been too bad yet in New England. I say “yet” because our winter from hell last year didn’t start until the end of January. So I definitely don’t think we’ll escape from the cold and snow this year either.
But I am ready. A couple of months ago, I received two incredible facial moisturizers from Mineral Fusion. I wasn’t familiar with Mineral Fusion, and there seem to me to be some brands with similar names, i.e. some with Fusion in the name, others with Mineral in the name. I get confused. But now that I’ve tried Mineral Fusion, I won’t get confused. Plus I love their tagline: Minerals On A Mission. So cute!
Mineral Fusion Skin-Balancing Moisturizer
I’ve been using Skin-Balancing Moisturizer since it arrived. The moisturizer seems to me to be a gel cream. It’s what I would describe as light to medium weight. It has a very faint fresh scent that is imperceptible on my skin. The moisturizer is so easy to apply. I use a small blob and that covers my entire face. It sinks in instantly, and it is totally greaseless. It’s very hydrating even for my very dry skin. IMHO, it would work well for all skin types.

Mineral Fusion Intense Hydration Face Cream with Hyaluronic Acid
I’ve been saving “the big guns” for the real cold, dry winter weather. However, I can’t resist using the Intense Hydration Face Cream from time to time when my skin feels extra dry or if I’m staying somewhere where there is no humidifier in the heating system. It’s very similar to the Skin-Balancing Moisturizer – a gel cream, faint fresh scent, needs only about a dime to a quarter’s worth, covers easily. But it takes just a few seconds more to sink in. While it too is greaseless, it leaves my skin feeling protected with a very thin veil. I love it. Since the frigid temperature from Canada and the midwest is heading our way, maybe now is the time to make the switch to the Intense Hydration Face Cream.
Like the Skin-Balancing Moisturizer, Intense Hydration Face Cream is made with rose hip oil, mineral water, natural antioxidants, the wrinkle-fighter iron, and Mineral Fusion’s collagen-boosting peptide. Intense Hydration Face Cream also contains shea butter which accounts for its richer formula and hyaluronic acid for helping to keep my skin feeling plumper and better hydrated. I’m glad to hear that, Kristina! These moisturizers are the first things I’ve tried from Mineral Fusion, but I’m so impressed I’d like to try more. I think you’d like the Skin-Balancing Moisturizer because it is lightweight and dries quickly and cleanly. Plus they do have oil-free moisturizers.
The gel formula sounds interesting in that first moisturizer you discussed. I like the sound of it being light and moisturizing! Our winter has been cold, rainy and dry (ironic, I know). I definitely need to rework my moisturizer game. 🙂

Today is one of our first really cold, blustery days: 26 degrees and really windy, but we lucked out and missed the snow. So I used the Skin-Balancing Moisturizer up until recently since it was still relatively warm out (40s). Now I’ve made the switch. They are both sort of gel-creams, but the Skin-Balancing is best for combo skin. Mineral Fusion has such a huge lineup of moisturizers including oil-free, and they’re so affordable and at Whole Foods. I want to more of their products.
I haven’t used Mineral Fusion in awhile but these sound amazing! I will have to try them out!

Mineral Fusion is honestly a wonderful brand based on my experience with these two moisturizers: affordable, made with good-for-you ingredients, cruelty-free, vegan etc etc. For winter in either Massachusetts or Canada, I’d say the Intense Hydration Face Cream with Hyaluronic Acid is the thing!!
I’ve never tried anything from this brand but the winter here has gotten so bad that I should try their moisturizer out. Since I know that it’s colder by you I’m going to go ahead and guess that they should help me out.

Today & yesterday, it was 24 degrees! Hard to adjust since the weather in New England has been more temperate than usual this winter. I definitely had to make the switch to Intense Hydration with HA and shea butter. Even though it’s richer than Skin-Balancing Moisturizer, it sinks in and isn’t greasy at all. I like it a lot, Aleya. I think you would too. Good ingredients, affordable, easy to find 🙂

I’d like to try more products from Mineral Fusion. They have definitely impressed me
I haven’t used their skincare yet but the cosmetics are wonderful. I worry about fragrance (as you know) so I avoid it if I see it in the ingredients.
I don’t see “fragrance” listed for either moisturizer. Each does have a faint scent that I thought may come from the natural oils in the moisturizers, but the scent is so faint and isn’t perceptible on my face. I worked in advertising for years, and I/we often asked about fragrance. Some of the brands I worked on like Suave, Caress, Palmolive, VICL, Ajax were meant to be fragranced. Other brands & products including those labeled “fragrance-free” had masking scents, according to our clients, so that they wouldn’t smell bad, like chemicals. I’m not completely sure I get the difference between “unscented” and “fragrance-free” and what those terms actually mean. Do you know, Marcia?
That’s a good question. You are right that many companies use fragrances to mask the aroma. Those usually call themselves fragrance free but that’s more a guess than a definitive answer.
Even talking to the R&D folks at Unilever and Colgate, I wasn’t sure I got it. But I came away feeling that all products made by mainstream companies have some kind of fragrance in the product, either a scent or a masking scent. For ‘natural” product companies, I’m not so sure!
I don’t think I know this brand, but it definitely sounds pretty great. I like that the products are in tubes as opposed to pots.
Although I have a number of products in jars that I use and like, I prefer tubes or pumps too. More efficacious, cleaner etc. Mineral Fusion is a terrific brand: affordable, cruelty-free, natural, great ingredients and it’s at Whole Foods among other retailers. It’s definitely a good brand, worth trying
