FOTD with IT Cosmetics Your Most Beautiful Skin Collection

Don’t stay up too late watching TV and your fellow bloggers’ Facebook feeds, lol! It can be dangerous!

That’s what I did a couple of weeks ago. It was a Friday night, Jeff was watching boxing (that I hate), and I was working on my blog but checking my Facebook feed, when I saw a couple of posts about Jamie from IT Cosmetics being on QVC with new products. IT Cosmetics and new products? How could I resist?

I Bought This

I tuned in around midnight, and they were demonstrating the new, limited edition, IT Cosmetics 6 piece collection, “Your Most Beautiful Skin”.

The set includes:

The price was $60 for full-size products. At that price, it was a STEAL. (The total worth of the collection is $214!!!). I caved and bought it. Two IT brushes, lots of products I have never tried, and you know, PINK. I couldn’t resist.

So what did I think? First, the collection made a beautiful presentation, everything arriving in their IT silver boxes and the brushes in heavy, clear plastic tubes.

Everything looked so pretty!

I decided to do a face of the day with all of the products and with the Naturally Pretty  Must Have Eyes Set, a travel size palette of wine shades and a travel size Hello Lashes Mascara.

I think it’s a nice, pretty look for everyday.

So what did I think about the collection? Well, truth be told, I love the quality of everything I received, but some were a little different from what I was expecting. A bit of a mixed bag, maybe?

CC+ Cushion Foundation

I wasn’t sure which shade of foundation to choose. That’s the problem with ordering from TV! In the winter, I’m usually Fair in IT’s CC Cream and Light in summer and early autumn. In the cushion, Light looks sooooo dark, but when I swatch it on my arm, you can’t even see it so I guess it’s a decent match.

I’ve never used a cushion foundation before with the exception of a sample of LaNeige I got a year ago or so from ipsy and the foundation that a saleswoman at an H-Mart boutique applied for me. I used the spongey applicator that came with the foundation to apply it. It looked so clean and fresh, but now I hate that it gets so saturated and dirty looking. I tried washing it with Dr. Bronner’s and that doesn’t do much. I’ll try washing it with my solid Beauty Blender Cleanser. If you have any washing tips, please let me know! Frankly, I wasn’t sure what to do with the double-ended foundation brush. I’ll use it for another use.

The foundation goes on very sheer and dries very fast. I put on a few layers to build it up. It gives anywhere from sheer to medium/fullish coverage as you build it. It does a great job covering pores and giving the skin a glowy, smooth look. I had to use concealer on my dark spots, but I have to do that with every foundation. It does a great job concealing redness or normal discoloration.

The foundation is extremely lightweight, but it gives my skin a velvety feel. It’s filled with anti-aging peptides. Very nice!

First time out, I forgot to use primer. Unfortunately, the foundation does settle into my fine lines without primer.

I love the fact that this foundation has SPF 50, yay. I’d say this is a terrific, ultra-lightweight foundation with good coverage. But hopefully it’ll grow on me even more with time.

CC+ Creme Blush and Blurred Lines Lipstick in Je Ne Sais Quoi

One of the reasons I was so interested in the collection was the fact that the blush was cream and pink. I prefer cream blush on my dry skin. And I needed/wanted a pink blush. In the pan and on the bullet, the shade Je Ne Said Quoi looks like a very bright medium pink. In fact, when I opened them both, I was afraid they would be too bright. But upon application, it is an MLBB or MCBB shade, a light pink. I tried using the Angled Radiance Creme Brush to apply the blush, but I did better with my fingers. The blush is soooooooooo sheer and the color so light, you can hardly see it.  😐 And the same goes for the lipstick. I had to put on about several coats of each of them to get good color payoff.  🙁 After putting on all those coats, I like the color a lot. It’s very natural-looking. But I wish it showed up with less effort. Nevertheless, I recommend these shades for light-skinned women who don’t want colors that shout.

Also, both blush and lipstick are very creamy when they go on, and they give a lovely glow.

The Brushes

The brushes are both soft and full, just lovely. I’ll use them for other purposes than with this collection.

So, that’s it! I think I need to keep using these and I know they’ll grow on me. The $60 collection was indeed limited edition, and it’s gone now, though all of the products are available individually.

Do you have the “New Year, Your Moist Beautiful Skin” collection? What do you think about it?

  1. I saw this on The Shopping Channel here in Canada and almost bought it but being on a low-buy I didn’t. I am sorry I missed out on this though! The colours look great and seem perfect for a light natural look.

    1. You’ve gotta be strong, Sandie! I wasn’t! I was/am on a low-buy too, but when I saw how much stuff was in the box and the prices, I caved. I really wanted those brushes, cream blush and the cushion foundation! In the end, I think I’ll get a lot of everyday use out of the makeup and I’ll be using the brushes with other makeup. 🙂

  2. I was on the fence about this collection because I wanted everything except the cushion foundation. By the time I convinced myself that I could just gift that item away it sold out. In general I love It Cosmetics just not their CC foundations.

    1. Just curious, Laura, why didn’t you want the cushion foundation? I don’t love the sponge that I can’t get clean, but I do like the foundation after all. I wish I had waited a few minutes before placing my order because the new mascara looks beyond incredible – the longest lashes I’ve ever seen without falsies! (How r u doing, btw?)

    1. I do like the collection, and yes, it is an incredible value! I love the pink shades, but I wish they showed up better without having to make 4 or 5 passes to build up color.

    1. I’m someone surprised that you find the IT CC Cream drying. I wear moisturizer with everything, but I haven’t had any issues with it being drying. Because it’s on the thick side compared to today’s lightweight foundations, I always thought it felt hydrating on me, but maybe that’s just because of the consistency. Interesting. I’ll pay more attention to it!

  3. QVC strikes again! Just by looking at them, I would have thought the blush and the lipstick would be the superstars of this set (I know that’s what I would have been attracted to most–the pink!). It’s a shame to see the color payoff isn’t great without a lot of layers, since they look so pretty in the pan/tube! I actually never thought about the sponge/puff getting dirty when people talk about cushion BB creams. Do some people not wash them? Gross!

    1. I’ve been washing my sponge and it takes out the foundation but not the stain/color. It’s very frustrating! The blush is really growing on me because it looks so natural, but I wish the lipstick, that I thought would be so gorgeous, requires a bit of work to build up still. But all in all, I’m still happy with the collection. It was a bargain!

  4. I love when It Cosmetics offers these great deals. QVC always has a way on convincing me that I need to buy, even when I don’t need anything. Too bad this wasn’t a total hit, but at least there were some good ones in the mix.

    1. I’d say definitely more positive than meh. The blush has really grown on me, and I’m wearing the cushion foundation. I went back and looked at the YT video of the show where Jamie tells the model to apply the foundation, and I swear she must have been using something else in that compact! She had serious skin discoloration that I don’t have at all, and it covered it right up. But it doesn’t cover my few dark spots, what?

  5. It’s a shame that the blush and lippie weren’t very pigmented, but their brushes are amazing!! Just be careful when you wash the double ended one. I have the same one from a kit last year, and the smaller concealer brush got really loose until it finally fell off completely (from water getting into it I’m assuming). I still use the face brush, even though the handle is super short without the concealer end, but it bummed me out that it broke. They are pricey brushes!

    1. They definitely are pricey brushes! $48 a piece!! They shouldn’t break! I’ve been getting used to the blush and lipstick after wearing them quite a bit. The blush is very hydrating and looks like a natural blush, and I like the look for everyday. The lipstick – it’s almost as if there was a coating on it – and now that I’ve worked through it, it gives more color though I’d still describe it as a light rose MLBB shade. The brushes are great, just not for the products in the box, lol. Overall, everything is growing on me!!

  6. I wash my sponge to get the foundation out and don’t care about the staining. As long as it’s clean to use, that’s what matters.
I was very surprised at the cream blush since it looks so much darker in the compact than it does on my skin. I’ve started using a flatter brush instead of a fluffy one to apply and it shows up better.
As much as I love this TSV I don’t think the brushes fit the products but they are still wonderful for other things.

    1. I’ve been washing the little sponge with Dr. Bronner’s to get the foundation out, too, but the staining really bugs me, lol. I may try a beauty blender next. I was definitely shocked at how much lighter the blush and lipstick are on the skin than in the pan and bullet, but I’m building them up enough and I’m deciding that I like the natural flush. I agree with you that the brushes are great, but not for these products. I’ve been using them for other things already. I think you’re wise to use a different brush for the blush, and I’m good with my fingers! This is my first TSV from IT, so I was a bit surprised that it’s rather discombobulated since IT usually has its act together 😉

    1. The brushes are great, Bailey, but the odd thing is that they’re not useful for applying the products in the kit! No matter, I’m using them for other applications. And the cushion foundation is definitely growing on me – so lightweight!

  7. That kit would have been a win for me just to get the foundation and refill! I LOVE that foundation! I wear it in Fair and I apply with a beautyblender. There is no way I’d use that included puff. Nope! lol The brushes and blush and lippie would have been nice, too… *sigh* Was I under a rock, somewhere when this set was the TSV?

    1. The more I use the kit, the more I like it. The foundation is so lightweight. I’ll try using a beauty blender instead because I feel like I’m wasting my time trying to wash the puff – although the foundation seems to wash out, the stains remain, ice. The blush and lipstick have grown on me for a natural look. You must have been busy that week and especially that Friday night because our blogging buddies were all posting on FB about it being on QVC!

    1. Amber, I think there was some kind of coating on the blush that prevented it initially from showing up. Now that I’ve gotten more down into the pan, it’s giving me good pigmentation. The lipstick still requires a few swipes to show up, but the MLBB shade is lovely. The collection has definitely grown on me!

    1. This collection has really grown on me. There must have been a coating on both the blush and lipstick because the more I use them, the more pigmented they’ve become. I’ve gotta use the dual-ended brush especially since it’s your fave. The stippling brush has been handy for apply the pigmented Too Faced flush blush and Milani blushes.
