South Korea is the land of cute, rivaled only by Japan, when it comes to adorable makeup and makeup packaging. It was either on Amazon or Pinterest that I found photos of Etude House lipsticks and powders. Though they look like they were designed for 12 year old girls, I fell for them, and I ordered a lipstick called Dear My Blooming Lips-Talk from a Korean retailer on Amazon. I took about 2 weeks to arrive, and the outer packaging even had the customs document on it. The retailer included some free nail art stickers with my order, a nice touch. The shipping was $3, all the way from Korea.
It was definitely the packaging that enticed me to buy this lipstick. I’m a heart lover, so the pink hearts on the box caught my eye. And the pink, shiny plastic, curvy case with the little bow was super-cute. I must be channeling my inner 12 year old, but I couldn’t resist.
Sometimes, it’s difficult to choose a color from a computer-generated swatch online, but I felt confident choosing PK004 Breathtaking Pink, a hot pink. The online sample called it “hot”, and hot it is! Perfect for summer and this year’s vivid lipstick shades. You can see that there are 24 shades to choose from: pinks, reds, neutrals, and oranges. There’s even a true orange, if you’re looking for this year’s fashion color. Other bloggers who tried the lightest shades reported that they were a bit too transparent, so stick with the medium or darker shades if you want full coverage color.
Here is PK004 Breathtaking Pink on Etude House’s model and Korean star, Sandara Park, better known as Dara (the ad was on Etude House’s and a variety of retail websites). She’s very pretty, but I admit I didn’t know who she was.
Dear My Blooming Lips-Talk is creamy, feels moisturizing on my lips for more than an hour after I put it on and is easy to apply. One swipe across the lips is actually enough. The color is quite long-lasting. If I’m not eating or drinking, it stays on for at least 3 hours or so. The pigment lasts on my lips even when the creaminess is gone, so it doesn’t look like my lips are without color when I don’t have a chance to re-apply. The lipstick has no taste and no discernible fragrance, both of which are a plus for me. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find an ingredient list in English.

Oh, and here’s the piece de la resistance: the little heart logo carved into the lipstick bullet. Beyond adorable!

It really is a pretty shade. Fits with the “brights” trend. I have to take a drive to the Korean hypermart in Burlington called HMart to see if they carry this brand in their store. Have you ever been there? A great place to visit if you’re looking for Asian ingredients. And they sell Korean makeup brands.

I love buying beauty products from Etude House, it is like a room full of quality make-ups! Ha Ha! By the way, I like the color of your lipstick, it looks good on you! Great choice, love it! I also love lippies from Loreal, have you tried one of those?

Oddly enough, I don’t seem to gravitate to L’Oreal lipsticks or glosses, but instead go with Maybelline or Revlon if I’m buying drugstore brands. Which L’Oreals do you like?
