Sephora Play Bag March 2018 “Festival of Beauty”

The March 2018 Sephora Play bag is themed “Festival of Beauty” in concert (pardon the pun) with Coachella and other spring festivals. This month’s goodies came in a blue cottony bag with “Beauty Is My Spirit Animal” on it.

Let’s see what I got.

Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 30: I wrote about this terrific sunscreen in my Best Skincare of 2017 post. I haven’t really noticed any significant blurring, but I really like this super lightweight clear sunscreen serum for sun protection. This sample will be perfect to bring to the beach this summer.

Buxom Plumpline Lip Liner, shade Hush Hush: I usually avoid Buxom lip products because some of them – I thought all of them – have peppermint oil in them. But I was happy to discover that the Plumpline Lip Liner does not. Yay! The neutral shade described as warm cinnamon pink is good for everyday, and I’m enjoying wearing it. It’s smooth, easy to apply and very pigmented. The lip liner has a brush on the other end. Nice lip crayon!

Sephora Matte Perfection Powder Foundation: I wasn’t paying attention because I completely missed the “Foundation” part of this travel size sample. Matte powder foundation really isn’t good for my super dry skin. I thought it was a regular finishing powder. Too bad I stuck my finger on it to swatch the shade. It seems very silky. Since I can’t give it away now, I’ll try it anyway.

Lancôme Miel-En-Mousse Foaming Cleansing Makeup Remover with Acacia Honey: At first glance, I thought this was a serum or moisturizer, but I’m happy to see that it’s a makeup remover. I’m hoping it doesn’t have a strong scent like many Lancôme products. I also hope that it’s a good makeup remover so I can bring it with me to Amsterdam.

Verb Ghost Oil: I got this hair oil in a Sephora Play bag about a year ago, but I still hadn’t tried it. This time I will. Because I wash my color-treated hair only every 4 days, I do not like to put oil on it. But the instructions say you can apply 2-3 drop to damp hair for anti-frizz and color protection benefits. I’ll give it a try next time I shampoo.

Ouai Anti-Frizz Sheets: Anti-frizz must be a thing this month. You apply this anti-frizz sheet to dry hair to tame frizz, and it’s supposed to smell really nice. Again, not really my thing, but I’ll try the single sample sheet just for the fun of it.

My favorite products this month are the Murad Invisiblur Sunscreen that I already love and the Buxom Lip Liner. I’d say it was a decent bag especially since the Murad Invisiblur is so expensive – I’m happy to have this travel size to carry with me.

If you subscribe to Sephora Play, did you get the same stuff or something different? Do tell.

  1. Great products in your bag! I opened mine last week and don’t even remember what’s in it. LOL!!! I think I may have had the same, but one difference. Now I can’t wait to go look.

    1. If you can’t remember, I’d say not that memorable, right? I liked trying the Buxom lip crayon, and I was happy to get the Murad. The other 4 were just OK. Hope you enjoy the surprise when you go back to look again 😉

  2. I first thought anti-frizz sheets were actually bedsheets that would prevent frizz magically! You got some intriguingly-named products this month! I need to give the Murad sunscreen a try. My favourite sunscreen is La Roche Posay Optical Blur, so anything with the word blur is good in my oily skin’s book.

  3. I like those Buxom lip crayons so I’d be happy with that and especially the Murad. I used up a full one so it would be great to have a sample of it. This month gets a thumbs up from me!

    1. I was happy to discover that the Buxom lip crayon doesn’t have peppermint oil in it! That alone was good, but I was so happy to get the sample of the Murad sunscreen blur. So handy! I hope you got a good one if you’re still subscribing

  4. Mine was completely different this month, we didn’t have a single product in common. I like yours a lot better – I would have loved to try the Buxom pencil and the Miel en Mousse from Lancome. What I got was either repeats from past boxes or mini products from the Sephora store brand… Honestly it made me want to cancel my subscription. I hope I get a better box next time.

    1. I hope you get a better bag next month too. I will try the Miel en Mousse tonight. It’s quite floral, but I’m hoping the scent won’t irritate my eyes.
