Ageless Derma Daily Mineral Guard SPF 25

The other day, my brother sent me an email with an intriguing subject: If you can guess who this is, I’ll give you a dollar. I looked at the photo of a thin, older woman with sort of yellow hair and a very wrinkled face. I had no clue. He emailed back that it was Joni Mitchell, the acclaimed singer songwriter. You would think I would recognize her from her lovely high cheekbones, but I did not. I’d post the photo, but I’m never sure what the copyright rules are. So you’ll just have to look it up yourself, if you’re interested.

Now, Joni Mitchell who will be 70 in November always struck me as a natural-type gal. That said, she looked like she never saw a bottle of moisturizer or sunscreen in her life. And that’s fine. It’s her decision. But it gave me additional proof that using moisturizer and sunscreen can actually make a difference.

It’s almost the beginning of summer here in New England, though most days we’d hardly know it from the rain and cool temps. Nevertheless, I know I’ll be jogging outside and relaxing at Good Harbor Beach very soon. As much as I can use the vitamin D, I need to protect my skin.

A couple of weeks ago, I received a tube of Ageless Derma Daily Mineral Guard SPF 25 to try.

Ageless Derma is a California-based company that is associated with the Focus Medical Spa. They are a research-oriented organization that incorporates leading edge ingredients into their products. I recently reviewed their intriguing product, Ageless Derma Stem Cell & Peptide Anti-Wrinkle Cream with PhytoCell, rejuvenating stem cells derived from Swiss apples, and I am still using the product.

The Daily Mineral Guard provides broad-spectrum protection against UVA/UVB via a physical barrier: titanium dioxide. When I have the choice, I prefer a physical barrier sunscreen that (I think) sits on top of my skin to a chemical sunscreen that may be absorbed. But physical barrier sunscreens are thicker than chemical, and that’s OK with me. You can see the thickness in this photo of a blob of Daily Mineral Guard.

In spite of the thick formula, it’s non-greasy so it can be used by any skin type. And it’s good for sensitive skin, including for people like me with rosacea. I spread it on my face, and the white color disappears. As the name says, it has SPF 25. Frankly, I wish I could use Daily Mineral Guard everywhere, but I think I’ll save it for my face…and maybe a little bit on the back of my hands that have so much sun damage already.

Here are some of the other skin benefits listed online about the product:

  • Helps prevent sunburn and provide high broad spectrum protection
  • Can be used for post treatment and for sensitive or inflamed skin
  • Helps to repair the skin; High water-binding properties
  • Oil Free formula, non-greasy, contains antioxidants
  • Reduces the signs of aging, smooths and firms your skin

In addition to the sunscreen, Ageless Derma Daily Mineral Guard contains a number of plant-based ingredients that help nourish skin and improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles:

  • squalene to keep skin soft and healthy. It has antioxidant capabilities help to protect skin from environmental effects
  • thyme extract whose antioxidant properties offer further protection and help skin replenish itself etc.
  • soybean oil to soothe and nourish skin
  • edelweiss extract (Now, are you breaking into song?) that fights free radicals, reduces inflammation and reduces puffiness.

The product also contains sodium hyaluronate to help keep moisture in your skin. What it doesn’t have is parabens, and that’s a good thing.

Ageless Derma Daily Mineral Guard SPF 25 is $32.00 for 4 oz. It’s a good-sized tube that will definitely last me a while. It can be purchased on the company website, www.agelessderma.com, and I noticed they’re offering 20% off if you use the code: AGELESS. They provide free shipping within the U.S. As I mentioned in my review of Ageless Derma Stem Cell and Peptide Anti-Wrinkle Cream, I find their website very informative, so it’s worth it to take a look around.

In addition to the product’s titanium dioxide, here’s a list of the other ingredients:

If you gluten-free, check into whether some of the ingredients are OK for you. It has soybean oil that may be a no-no, and you’ll need to discover the original of the tocopherol and tocopherol acetate.

So although Joni Mitchell is a distinctive, talented but older woman who looks her age, I’m hoping that Ageless Derma Daily Mineral Guard can help me keep away the serious wrinkles for a number of years to come.

The product was provided for consideration, but the opinions are my own.
