IGK Good Behavior Spray for Smoother, Less Frizzy Hair

Lately, I have been trying haircare products from IGK. Today, I thought I would tell you about one of them, Good Behavior Smoothing Spray.

I needed to buy an affordable product in order to qualify for free shipping at Ulta. So what else is new, you’re thinking! That’s often how I discover new products.

IGK Good Behavior Spirulina Protein Smoothing Spray is just one of IGK’s many products that promise to smooth frizzy hair. I decided to try this one because it’s a heat-protective formula that’s good up to 450 degrees. I was looking for something that would provide heat-protection from my gd Flat Iron that works at 360 degrees and sometimes also from my TYCO Straightening Brush that goes up to 450.

Another important reason I chose Good Behavior Smoothing Spray is that it promises “keratin-like results”. I’ve never had a keratin treatment, but I would love straight, shiny, silky hair without having to go through another hair treatment.

I bought the travel size, in case it didn’t work for me. Ulta was having a sale, $10 off $50 so this product in the travel size was enough to put me over the top.

At this point, I have used IGK Good Behavior Smoothing Spray three times. I have to laugh at myself because after I received the product, I read that it is not for thick, coarse hair which is what mine is especially at the back of my head. Oh well, I already bought it, I thought, so I may as well try it out.

Its key ingredients are:

• Spirulina Protein: Strengthens and nourishes hair
• Innovative Bonding Polymers: Mimics the frizz-free, high-shine coating of a keratin treatment when activated by heat

I have had great to acceptable results using Good Behavior Smoothing Spray. After washing and conditioning my hair and letting it dry somewhat in my Aquis turban wrap, I spray my hair with It’s A 10 Miracle Leave-In before I blow dry my hair. I use It’s A 10 Leave-In primarily as a heat protectant from my dryer. It doesn’t do anything to prevent coarseness or frizziness for me. Next, I spray a section of my hair with IGK Good Behavior Smoothing Spray and then flat iron it. I repeat the Smoothing Spray for each section of my hair and then flat iron it.

My hair has come out softer, silkier and definitely smoother after using IGK Good Behavior Spirulina Protein Smoothing Spray two out of the three times I have used the product to flat iron my hair. The one time it didn’t do as much, I sprayed my entire head first before blow drying rather than after blow drying spraying a section of hair at a time and then flat ironing. A mistake that I rectified in my next usage occasions.

I used Good Behavior Smoothing Spray again when I washed my hair before going out to dinner with Jeff for Valentine’s Day. Here’s how my hair came out. I was happy with it!

Good Behavior Smoothing Spray is supposed to last for 24 hours. For me, it lasts up to 3 days, and again, I have thick coarse hair and it’s not supposed to work on that type of hair. Good news.

BTW, Good Behavior Smoothing Spray is cruelty-free/Leaping Bunny Certified, gluten-free and vegan.

A couple of things about Good Behavior Smoothing Spray that may be controversial for some are:

• it has what I would describe as a light vanilla scent that fades after a few minutes
• the formula has alcohol which some people try to avoid.

I actually like the vanilla scent, which probably doesn’t surprise you after my review of the Erbario Toscana Spicy Vanilla Reed Diffuser. But in checking the consumer reviews on the IGK, Ulta and Amazon websites, there are a small minority of users who don’t like the fragrance.

I was concerned about using a product with alcohol on my dry, color-treated hair, but so far I haven’t had any negative effects. I’ll see what happens going forward.
