Nature Island Botanicals: Artisanal Skincare for Holiday Gifting or Pampering

I’ve mentioned Nature Island Botanicals a number of times on Never Say Die Beauty because it is my absolute favorite brand of artisanal skincare. Made by hand by Daphne Frampton, licensed aesthetician, in Rhode Island with natural and organic ingredients as well as with a lifetime of skincare and healthy living knowledge, Nature Island Botanicals skincare products are the perfect combination of efficacy, gentleness, purity, and fabulous scent.

Not only does Daphne make all her skincare products herself, but she travels around the northeast US every weekend from May through December selling her lovely wares at craft festivals and fairs in at least 6 states. I look forward to seeing her in person every July when she comes to the Waterfront Craft Festival in Gloucester Massachusetts. I can always find her at the fair because she has the perfect perch right by the ocean, and the scent of her bespoke skincare products draws me right to her booth.

Nature Island Botanicals products come in recyclable plastic or glass containers. They are simply packaged and labeled so Daphne can allocate more money to buying the absolutely best quality natural and organic ingredients. And I can vouch for the fact that that’s exactly what she does!

I Bought This

Here’s my haul from our July visit.

This time, I picked up two favorites – the Sweet & Blood Orange Soap and Caribbean Escapes Coconut Body Butter – and  three new products to try – Caribbean Escapes White Ginger Body Butter, Gourmet Caribbean Coconut Lotion and Chamomile Infused Whipped Body Butter.

Sweet & Blood Orange Cold Pressed Vegan Soap

I just mentioned this stunningly gorgeous, amazingly citrusy, fragrant soap in my Beauty Empties post last week, and I got so many comments about the soap from readers. The colors remind me of a spectacular sunset like the one I saw tonight. The scent is revitalizing and energizing. I adore anything citrus!

The soap is a big, fat bar. I divide it in half and it lasts a long time that way. It’s super hydrating, but it does a great job cleaning too. Check out the all natural ingredients:

I need more of this soap for myself and also to give as holiday hostess gifts to friends who are handmade soap lovers. $10 for a big bar

Nature Island Botanicals has a variety of other scents, colors and key ingredients in addition to the Sweet & Blood Orange Pink Grapefruit & Bergamot soap including gender neutral and more masculine scents.

Body Butters

I’ve been buying the Caribbean Escapes Coconut Body Butter for more than 5 years. I could drink this stuff I love it so much! It was the scent of this body butter that initially drew me to Daphne’s booth, and it keeps me coming back. The scent is beyond coconut – there is something else in there – mango? – that takes the coconut scent up a notch. It is truly intoxicating. I can’t get enough of it. It’s also available in Citrus Sunrise that I must try next time, but I’ll still be buying the coconut one as well ‘coz I can’t live without it. $21

This year, I tried Daphne’s special Exotic White Ginger Body Butter for the first time. The exotic white ginger scent is a tropical floral that is beyond amazing. It is ultra feminine. I see hibiscus flowers and bougainvillea in my mind when I sniff this body butter. It’s a must for floral scent lovers. $22

Both of these “body butters” have a light to medium-weight texture that I would describe as “mousse-like”. They absorb easily, hydrate beautifully and leave my skin very soft. Because they are called “body butter”, I expected them to be heavy but they are not. They are perfection! I recommend them for all skin types.

Here you can get an idea of the ingredients in the body butter:

Gourmet Caribbean Coconut Lotion

I had always skipped trying the Gourmet Caribbean Coconut Lotion because I erroneously thought it would be too lightweight for my very dry skin. Well, I guess Daphne has her own descriptors because the Gourmet Caribbean Coconut Lotion is heavier than the Caribbean Escapes Coconut Body Butter! What a surprise! In spite of the fact that it comes in a deep blue plastic pump bottle, it is a thick cream. Very hydrating and protective. The perfect emollient for dry skin or very dry skin like mine and especially great for the winter. Boy, am I glad I tried this! Plus it has the same fabulous scent as my favorite Caribbean Escapes Coconut Body Butter. I’m sold on this. It will be a new cold weather staple for me! $22

Chamomile Infused Whipped Body Butter

The Chamomile Infused Whipped Body Butter is a true cold weather, super dry skin body butter. It is very very thick, almost a solid. When I rub it in, it melts into my skin making it feel unbelievably soft. If you don’t mind the scent of lavender and shea on your face, you can also use it as a facial moisturizing balm for skin that weather-stressed. I know I’ll be using this on my face after snow-shoeing this winter.

The scent is deep and lovely from the French Lavender  essential oil, French and German Chamomile, and the organic fair trade shea butter. This is lovely to put on at night before bed or before or after skiing or outdoor winter sports.

Where/How to Buy Nature Island Botanicals

Since we’re all thinking about holiday gifts right now as well as pampering ourselves to get ready for holiday parties, Nature Island Botanicals needs to be on your list. NIB natural and organic skincare would make great hostess gifts, stocking stuffers and perfect items to add to a spa gift basket.

Daphne is going to be at a holiday fair in Deep Wells, NY again this coming weekend. But most of us can’t get to Deep Wells to shop. An easier way to buy Nature Island Botanicals skincare is through the Nature Island Botanicals etsy shop. Also, you can message Daphne/Nature Island Botanicals via Facebook with your order. Or just pick up your phone and give her a call at (954) 646-4005 to order. That way she can tell you which of her fabulous soaps are in stock.

Nature Island Botanicals is offering FREE SHIPPING and FREE GIFT WRAP till December 15!

I love Nature Island Botanicals skincare. If you prefer natural and organic ingredients in your skincare and you like scented products (NIB has some unscented products too, but why would you want them when the scented ones are so divine?), Nature Island Botanicals will delight you and those you’re buying gifts for just like it does for me.

    1. The soap is divine! The whipped body butter has the consistency of shea butter since that’s one of the primary ingredients so yes, it would be a great bedtime or pre/post outdoor winter activities cream.

    1. I agree, Laura. Initially, it was the bright pink and orange colors that got me but then, I love all things citrus so the fabulous scent was next! This is a wonderful brand.

        1. Not exactly sure when you mean is it persistent. The scent is persistent in the bar itself over time. As the bar gets smaller, it doesn’t smell as strong as when it was big/first used. The one I’m using now that’s been in my shower stall about 3 weeks still smells like citrus. It doesn’t leave a scent on my skin, if that’s what you mean. The lotion/butters, on the other hand, do leave a light scent on my skin for a little while but not long enough to interfere with using perfume 🙂

    1. They really are great! I was lucky to sniff Daphne’s great scents that first time I discovered her booth at the craft fair. So enticing, so hydrating

    1. I can’t be without the coconut body lotion or butter, Elaine. I have a lot of body lotions and butters, but Nature Island Botanicals soaps and lotions are a must for me

  1. Next time you see Daphne tell her how gorgeous we all think that soap is. And the fragrance sounds terrific. It’s great to find a company like hers, makes buying a little less guilty.

    1. Marcia, I know you’re not a fragrance girl and Daphne’s soaps and lotions are highly fragranced (her facial skincare is unscented but I don’t know about the rest of the line). But what I think Daphne would love is some sales, lol! And she’s doing free shipping for another week 😉 She is definitely the hardest working woman in skincare I know because she does all phases of the business on her own. I’m in awe of her.

    1. Yes, Daphne is an aesthetician and she keeps up her licenses and takes continuing ed courses all the time. She has also studied abroad in Thailand or Indonesia (can’t remember which) and in Domenica. She’s a very interesting person, and her skincare products are so well made and wonderful! I recommend them highly!

  2. This sound like such a great brand, and it’s so nice to be able to support small/local makers. I’d be all over the coconut body butter too!

    1. The body butters are heaven! The soaps would make lovely bathroom decorations and deodorizers, but they’re so hydrating and great for skin. I don’t share a bathroom so I love using them on my skin.

    1. Handmade soaps are truly the best. I adore L’Occitane soaps but I like the Nature Island Botanicals soaps even more because of the scent and the gorgeous colors!

  3. I bet all of these smell fabulous! I’ve been using a lot more natural products and know that I should use even more. Thanks for telling us about this line!

    1. Nature Island Botanicals products really do smell absolutely incredible! I love this stuff, have been using it for years, and I thought I’d spread the word 🙂

  4. I am so in love with the Blood Orange soap. I am sure it smells divine. The presentation of this soap is good as well. It is such a beautiful blend of colors. I wish I could be a part of the energy when she comes to MA. I love festivles. Interesting post.
Tee recently posted…Stocking Fillers 2015My Profile

    1. Thank you, Tee! The Sweet & Blood Orange soap really is great, Tee. It looks and smells beyond amazing. I wish you lived in the northeast and could join us, but if you ever do want to try any of the Nature Island Botanicals soaps or skincare products, visit the etsy shop or just give Daphne a call – she’s really nice.

    1. Nature Island Botanicals Caribbean Escapes coconut body butter is ah-maaaaz-ing and I’ve been a loyal fan for years. But I just placed an order for the Citrus Sunrise to check it out too!
