Wearin’ O’ The Green: FOTD for St. Patrick’s Day!

Today is St. Patrick’s Day, a holiday that’s pretty big in the Boston area because we have so many people of Irish heritage. I even have a few friends who are actually from Ireland (and they won’t be the ones wearing green, most likely!).

I thought I’d break out the Celtics jacket that my dad gave me for my birthday years ago, and do a face of the day using green with some orange accents (for the orange in the Irish flag).

I looked through my shadow palette stash and came up with my Jesse’s Girl The Eyes Have It palette that has a number of different greens.

Why don’t I use that palette more often? It is one fabulous palette. So smooth and buttery, no powder dust-up at all, easy to blend. If you haven’t picked up a Jesse’s Girl shadow palette at RiteAid, you’re missing out. It think it cost $3.99. They have other color choices, so take a look!

I used four of the green shades from the palette

  • the yellow green for the inner corner (1st pan)
  • spring green on the lid (4th pan)
  • green/brown in the crease (6th pan)
  • forest green in the outer V (7th pan).

Now that’s green!

Here’s the rest of the makeup that I used for my look:

I love the peach nails, a new color from Barielle Shades Collection. It’s a breath of spring!

So are you wearing green today for St. Patrick’s Day? What do you think about green eyeshadow? Yea or nay?

  1. I think you look great with green eyeshadows, Allison, great job! I personally never try green on my eyes well, I did use green eye liner before but it didn’t look good on me so I stayed away from green makeup in general after that. Love the nail polish on you, what a gorgeous peach!

    1. Thank you so much, Shireen! I know green isn’t for everyone. I often feel self conscious wearing green eyeshadow, but I think it does suit me. I’ll try to force myself to go green more often than once a year on St. Patrick’s Day!

    1. I’m so glad you love this palette, too! It’s so surprisingly easy to use. I love it. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy some more JG palettes

    1. Thank you so much, Helen! I like the green for a change! I wore that look to the neighborhood annual meeting last night rather than wash it off. Altho I felt “overdressed” since the women in the ‘hood seldom wear makeup on a weekday, I’m still glad I kept it on. 🙂

  2. You are a veritable spring beauty! Definitely wear those greens more often!
Sad sorry me has been battling bronchitis, so the only green cosmetic I’m sporting today is the green polish (Burberry Cadet Green) I’ve been wearing for the last two weeks. I was so smitten with it that when I took off my worn manicure a week ago, I slapped the same colour right back on again. 😛

    1. Thank you sooooo much, Rach! I think the green is a hit too 🙂 You’ve been on my mind. I’m so sorry that you’ve been sick with bronchitis. It’s a tough one to get rid of. I had it a couple of times years ago, and one of the bouts took me 3 months to get rid of completely. Hope you’ll be on the mend soon!! Burberry Cadet is a truly handsome shade. I can understand why you went back to it for a second week! BTW, I’m trying hard to find someone to help me move my blog to a new mobile-friendly theme. Hopefully soon. Don’t give up on me completely 😉 Get well soon!

  3. I love your look! That palette looks great! My maiden name is Shannon, but I’m only 1/8 Irish. It’s still a good excuse to wear green! 😉

    1. Thank you, Rachel! I was happy to see your dramatic green EOTD on FB today. I loved the green shadow, and your wing was everything! I’m not Irish but I like to do a St. Patrick’s Day look anyway. Everyone’s Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, right?

      1. Thank you, that’s so sweet! Yep…everyone is honorary Irish on St. Patricks Day. That’s what makes it fun!

  4. A very pretty look! I am wearing a green shirt today, but my eye makeup is more of a gold / brown 🙂 I should pick this palette up as I don’t have any green eye shadow and it would be an inexpensive way to add green to my collection.

    Monica.

    1. I think you’d like The Eyes Have It palette from Jesse’s Girl. The green shades aren’t outrageous, but they’re very natural looking and pretty. Plus $3.99!

    1. We don’t have many RiteAid stores around here. I actually bought this palette when I was on a business trip in Atlanta. I had always wanted to try Jesse’s Girl. Every now and then, RiteAid has free shipping with no minimum, and it’s a good time to try an affordable brand like Jesse’s Girl. The liquid eyeliner is fabulous too!

    1. The pink palette is so pretty. I should pick it up too. Near me, RiteAid doesn’t always have Jesse’s Girl. I actually got this palette on a business trip to Atlanta.

    1. Thank you, Cindy! I like the green for a change. And the lipstick is an artisan-made mineral brand that I just received. I’ve gotta write it up soon

    1. Yes, redheads are always associated with green. Perhaps that’s why I don’t wear it that much, but it does look nice for a change! The nail polish, Blossom from Barielle Shades, is one of their new colors. It’s so spring-y!

  5. Allison you look Awesome in Green! I love the whole look. Unfortunately, I wasn’t feeling well today (cataract surgery yesterday) so I actually forgot it was St. Patrick’s Day until my Husband came home and asked why weren’t having Corned Beef for dinner. So I am running a day late!

    1. Thank you, Paula! But tell me, how are you feeling? I can’t believe you’re on the computer the day after cataract surgery! How did it go? In Boston, they celebrate St. Patrick’s Day through Sunday…so you’re all set. Hope you heal quickly! xoxo

      1. Thank you for asking- I am tired and my eye (they only did the left & will do the right in 4wks) is itchy and scratchy. Other than that I feel great. It really is amazing how much better I can see with just the 1 eye done! It’s so exciting that soon I will be better able to show off my green eyes! LOL! I bet you never ever heard of anyone being excited about cataract surgery. Oh yeah, I had to turn the brightness down on my screen. It’s pretty hard to keep me away from my computer-too much to read and learn and of course play!

        1. Itchy & Scratchy: they were 2 cute characters on kids TV back in the day, but no fun for your eyeballs. I hope you’re feeling better today. Also, it’s great that you’re excited about getting the surgery done so you can see well again! I hope everything goes according to plan! And how wonderful that you have green eyes – such a beautiful shade, Paula. Have a good weekend xoxo

    1. Thank you, Kristina! Altho red hair and green is a traditional look around these parts, I don’t wear it all that often. Nice for a change

    1. Thank you, Katie! Hunter green looks great on you. I think you did a St. Patrick’s Day EOTD with it, didn’t you? The nail color, Barielle Shades “Blossom”, was on my blog on Monday. I love it too!
