I wanted to make sure I got my review of the Mally Beauty Evercolor Poreless Face Defender up ASAP because it’s one of the featured products today, March 22, on Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty. Regularly priced at $40, for today only, Mally Face Defender is priced at $25!! Act fast on this one 🙂
Mally Face Defender has a clear, light, waxy (?) balm consistency (not sure which word would really capture it) that softens on contact and covers pores and skin imperfections leaving a poreless, flawless complexion. It is very lightweight, and I don’t feel it once it’s on. It not only minimizes pores, but it also helps minimize the look of fine lines. In addition, it sets makeup so that it lasts all day. Plus it leaves a natural-looking, invisible, smooth, matte finish that is much lighter than setting powder.
It comes with a triangular sponge applicator that you use as a blending sponge to apply the Face Defender. You bounce or lightly dab the sponge to cover. The triangular shape lets you apply easily around the nose and eyes. Here’s a link to a product demo on the Mally website that shows how to apply it.
Mally Face Defender is very similar to Yves St. Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Perfector that I received a few months ago.
Both are dimethicone-based, and that’s why they leave such a soft, smooth finish on the skin. While the YSL compact is so girly and pretty, the YSL compact comes with a fabric applicator pad that’s impossible to clean, and a couple of months later, the pad is really ratty looking. Furthermore, the YSL compact contains much less product for a much higher price: YSL $55 for 0.33 oz. vs Mally’s 0.46 oz. for $40 or $25 today only. IMHO, both products work exactly the same.
If you are looking for a product to minimize pores and fine lines as well as to set your makeup, look no further. Take advantage of the Ulta sale and buy practical but pretty Mally Beauty Face Defender today! This is a great deal! (There’s nothing in it for me, but if this awesome product interests you, Ulta’s sale price can’t be beat!)

Mally makes such great products! I don’t usually use things to blur pores, but if I did I would definitely want to try this one.

This one got the Norah Salazar seal of approval so I’m even more impressed! Frankly, this one works just as well as the pricier one from YSL.

I’m sorry, Shireen, I’ve never heard of Indeed Labs or their product. Not sure we have it here in the US? The Mally Beauty and YSL Touche Eclat products are both dimethicone-based hardened gels in compact form that are applied either to bare skin or over foundation to minimize flaws and set makeup. Is that what Nanoblur does? In the past I used L’Oreal’s Miracle Blur that’s a similar product but it comes in a tube and is more difficult to apply over makeup IMHO.
Yep, definitely similar then. Nanoblur is to be softly tapped onto skin or on top of foundation to blurs out imperfections. I thought of purchasing the YSL one but I already have NanoBlur which works amazingly on me so I decided to skip YSL.

Yes! Sounds very similar. So glad that you have good results with it! I was happy to get the YSL version from Influenster because it’s so pricey…but pretty!

I have one of these, and found it tricky to apply. My makeup would just cake over it. I think I was using too much, though. I want to try it again, because I love Mally products on the whole.

I got the YSL version last summer, and I agree that it has quite a learning curve. I think that the Mally sponge triangular applicator makes it easier to bounce it on your skin. With the fabric pad with the YSL compact is much easier to smear it and get my makeup all over the applicator.

The packaging may not be as chic as the YSL but it looks like it does a lot and at a reasonable price too.

I really liked the pretty Blur Perfector I received from YSL last summer, but the Mally Face Defender is so similar and a much better value. A number of our blogger colleagues including Norah love it too!
I haven’t tried a lot from Mally, but their eyeshadow sticks are among my all time favorites.
This is my first product from Mally, so thank you for the tip about the eyeshadow sticks. They sound right up my alley!

Yes, the Mally perfecter is a great deal vs the YSL especially yesterday during the Ulta sale.
I haven’t used either of these, but have used similar from another brand and was quite impressed by the effect. I’m surprised there aren’t more brands with “smoothers” like this.
Is the brand, Indeed Labs, Bailey? Another Canadian blogger mentioned that brand to me, and she’s a big fan.
I am a huge Mally fan and this is quite possibly one of my all time favorite products. I have brought it twice and always keep it handy for that time when I need it. It’s such a great buy.
