Friday Find: L’Oreal Infallible Gel Eyeliner

L'Oreal Infallible Lacquer 24 Hour Waterproof Liner, gel eyeliner in charcoal gray Graphite neversaydiebeauty.com @redAllison

A few months ago, I reviewed Rimmel ScandalEyes Gel Eyeliner (here) that I picked up when I was in the mood to try a gel eyeliner. It was relatively easy to apply, but my wing disappeared not long after I applied the liner.

A number of readers suggested that I try L’Oreal Infallible Lacquer Liner 24 Hour Gel Eyeliner because it stayed put. I bought the eyeliner at CVS during a recent sale, and I chose the charcoal gray shade, Graphite. I think the charcoal shade is a good choice for this well over 40 gal. It’s a little less harsh, and I think it works with my blue eyes. And it’s great for everyday in my suburban neighborhood.

This is going to be a quick review because what I have to say is pretty simple. What a great recommendation! This stuff is great!

Although it comes with a little brush that is definitely usable if necessary, I used my own Sonia Kashuk bent neck eyeliner brush that allows me to make a skinny line next to my lashline. It goes on like a dream. I may still be a little wing challenged, but with this easy to apply gel and the skinny SK brush, it’s about the easiest eyeliner I’ve ever applied. To be on the safe side, I usually remember to put a little eyeliner primer where the wing goes, but regardless the wing stays till I take it off. Because my eyes are downturned, a subtle wing helps my eyes look more lifted, I think.

If you’re looking for an affordable, easy to apply, long lasting gel eyeliner, give L’Oreal Infallible Gel Eyeliner a try. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. It comes in a variety of shades including a couple of blacks, navy, brown, Graphite the gray that I bought. It’s priced somewhere around $7-9 depending on where you buy it.

Thanks again to all of you who recommended this eyeliner to me!

    1. Yes, Laura! I’m having such good luck with the L’Oreal gel liner. Several commenters on my Rimmel gel liner review a few months ago recommended the L’Oreal, and you might have been one of them?? Have a lovely holiday weekend xoxo

  1. It’s strange that Rimmel gel liner didn’t last as long for you, I have that and it lasts forever on me but makeup/skincare is tricky in that sense, what works for me doesn’t mean it will work for others. 🙂

I haven’t use gel liner since yonk and I really need to get back to it. I am one of them who loves gel liners better than others.

    1. The Rimmel gel eyeliner was great on my eyelids, but the wing would disappear completely on me. I think the reason why you don’t experience that problem, Shireen, is that you are younger than I am and you don’t have wrinkles at the outer corner of your eyes! Those wrinkles are a pain in more ways than one, lol

    1. That’s a good point, Miranda! This one, at 6 weeks, is too new to comment on. But the Rimmel gel that’s about 4 months old is still fine. Also, the gel brow color I bought from MAC is still fine about a year and a half later. I’ve been lucky. What dries out for me are the Maybelline Color Tattoo pots.

    1. Thank you, Helen! I think the gray shade works well for me, and fortunately, my crow’s feet don’t make it disappear like the Rimmel did 😉

    1. I usually use Lancome Drama Liqui-Pencil for my upper waterline, but I’ll follow your lead and give the L’Oreal gel liner a try there as well if I’m not too klutzy to use a brush in that harder to reach area. Glad to know that it doesn’t dry out!

    1. Thank you, Aleya. I think the gray shade is less harsh than black for me, and more appropriate during the day. I still like pencils, but for my older eyes with less firm skin, a wing put on with a pencil doesn’t last at all where this gel really does.

        1. I see. I’ll put those two on my to try list. Lately, I’ve been doing pretty well with Eyeko Fat Liquid Liner, but it’s easier for me to do the wing with gel. Gotta practice more!

  2. I LOVE this eye liner and think it’s quite comparable to Mac Fluidline. Like any gel liner, it will dry out before you use it all – once it starts to drag it’s time for a new one, but since it’s not too expensive, I don’t mind picking up a fresh product 🙂

I need to pick up the gray .. looks lovely on your eyes.

    Monica.

    1. I think maybe you were one of those who recommended the L’Oreal gel liner to me, Monica! I like it a lot. And the gray is a good shade for me! It’s nice for a change.

    1. I still have problems using many liquids though I’m doing pretty well with the felt-tipped Eyeko Fat Liner and with the skinny brush tips of Jordana’s great color liquid liners. This gel is good for me because it’s fast but I still have a little wiggle room if I screw up the wing

  3. Gel liner was always my go-to for a long time…. but I noticed that many of my favorite HG brands have changed up their formulation and they dry so much quicker than they used to. I’m not a fan of remoistening them again… after years in the makeup industry – I just know that it harbors bacteria way more that way so I don’t. But this sounds like a good one – I’ll check it out.

  4. It sounds like an excellent, affordable gel liner. I switch back and forth between the types of liners I use, but I mostly like felt and gel.

    1. The brush is good for a freebie. But I have better luck with either the bent neck eyeliner brush or a slant tip brush. The brush that came with it has a rounded tip which is kind of odd.
