Recently I was given the opportunity to choose a couple of products from Chicago-based MojoSpa. In addition to having a fun-to-shop website with over 350 products, MojoSpa is a family owned store located in the trendy Wicker Park area of Chicago. I wish I had known that when I used to go to Chicago on business.
MojoSpa was started by Amanda who developed makeup, not only to cover her cystic acne, but to heal it as well. From there, she added skincare, body care, perfume, and home products to the line. Her holistic, natural products are made in small batches using fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs. The MojoSpa product line includes loads of fun and innovative products like one of the ones I received.
You may still have time for Mother’s Day and certainly for upcoming graduations to either visit the store in Chicago to shop or to order online. There are so many memorable gift ideas to choose from: makeup, skincare, bath and body products, perfume, candles. Or take a look for yourself. You’ll love these fabulous and good-for-you makeup and skin treats!
Let me show you what I got.
Mineral Lipstick: Strawberry Cream
MojoSpa mineral lipsticks are made with natural ingredients to heal as well as moisturize and soothe lips. Since I have such dry lips, the MojoSpa lipstick got my attention immediately when I visited the website. Each mineral lipstick includes that following that provide lip benefits:
- Shea Butter: Acts as a skin conditioner to moisturize dry, cracked lips. Provides sun & wind protection & absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue.
- Carnauba Wax: Locks in color & protects the lips from the sun & other harmful environment factors.
- Lavender Essential Oil: Contains antiseptic and anti-fungal properties, and helps treat inflammations. Improves blood circulation, which provides oxygenation for lip & skin tissue to heal faster.
- Vitamin E: Is a natural preservative that protects and heals your lips from environmental factors.
Strawberry Cream (0.15ml/4.2g for $17) is a medium pink-red that really does look like the color of a fresh strawberry. It takes me a couple of passes to apply the color to my lips, most likely because of the carnauba wax and shea butter that give the bullet a somewhat stiff texture.
Even though the bullet is stiff, the lipstick on my lips isn’t dry, it’s moisturizing. Go figure!
I like Strawberry Cream very much as an everyday red lipstick. I find myself reaching for it often. It’s a natural-looking, medium pinked red rather than a sexy night-time red. And I also feel good about wearing it everyday because it’s a better-for-you lipstick. So if I ingest some of it while wearing it, I don’t have to worry.
MojoSpa lipsticks come in a range of shades and finishes: cream, satin, matte.
There’s also a new MojoSpa lip line called Lip Jam Pop that heals like a balm, has the pigmentation of lipstick and the shine of a gloss. I think I’ll try one of those next time! They’re also very cute!
MojoSpa Soy Cream Candle
Have you ever heard of a clean-burning soy scented candle that melts into a body cream? Well, now you have! MojoSpa sent me an amazing Vintage Rose scented candle that melts and becomes a body cream. OMG, it is incredible. The rose scent is lovely. I could easily use this just as a candle. But the cream is fabulous for very dry skin areas like my feet and elbows. In fact, here’s what MojoSpa says about the soy cream:
“Soy: Evens out the skin tone and texture, reduces the appearance of a wide variety of skin discolorations, such as age or sun spots; diminishes the appearance of redness caused by acne and sun exposure, and is gentle enough to use every day.”
When I used this the first time, I lit the candle and it took a while to start melting the candle, probably took a good 5 or so minutes. (Subsequently, I light the candle up to 15 minutes before I want to use the cream.)
The scent is so enjoyable, I didn’t mind waiting. Once the candle started melting, I let it burn a while and then blew out the flame. I was afraid that the “cream” would be too hot to use, but surprisingly it wasn’t! I scooped some up onto my fingers and I rubbed it into my heels and elbows. (Sorry for the blurry shot. My iPhone camera focused on the distance rather than my finger. My bad!)
The body cream was very hydrating! Very cool product indeed! $15 for 2.25 wide x 2 inch deep candle. It’s lasting me a while!
So take a look at all the good-for-you goodies you can find at MojoSpa. Great gift ideas, great treats for yourself. I hope I get to visit Chicago again because I really want to go to the MojoSpa store to see everything they have to offer in person. But in the meantime, the website is a lot of fun to shop!

The Vintage Rose scent is beautiful. Very authentic, I think. I love that it’s clean burning soy so it doesn’t bother my eyes or my asthma 🙂
