Five Faves from Too Faced!

5 favorite makeup products from Too Faced Cosmetics neversaydiebeauty.com

Beauty Spotlight Team’s new feature for the next couple of months is “Five Favorites from…” our favorite brands. Each of the BST members will share their 5 top products from their favorite brand. This week it’s my turn.

It was difficult for me to choose a brand because I have a number of favorites. In fact, I almost went with my favorite skincare brand, StriVectin. But I thought that everyone gets more excited about makeup than skincare so I chose Too Faced, an innovative cruelty-free brand.

Limiting the number of products to five was almost impossible. I have so many favorites from Too Faced. But one of the key things that makes Too Faced my favorite is that they share my love of heart-shapes. In fact, their original heart-shaped blush (reviewed here) was the first item I ever bought from the brand, and one of my early blog reviews.

Here are five of my favorites. I love them all, but I might have swapped one out for the long wearing Love Flush if I could find it in my stash.

La Creme Lipstick

La Creme is my favorite lipstick formula hands-down because it is so darn creamy and comfortable to wear. It’s not long-lasting, but I don’t care. It comes in such a pretty gold metal tube that I don’t mind reapplying. If I could, I’d own it in every shade.

So far I own it in three shades, two nudes and the third is a berry: Cinnamon Kiss, Honey Bear and Bumbleberry. Actually, I have a fourth shade, I Want Candy, the first one I bought that is hiding somewhere.

If you have dry lips, you must try La Creme. $22

Lip Insurance

When I wear La Creme or any other lipstick that isn’t long-wearing and when I need it to stay put, I turn to Lip Insurance. This stuff definitely does the trick. It smooths my lips, prevent lipstick from straying or feathering, and makes it last longer. I reviewed it (here) back when I first started my blog. It’s a lightweight gel that’s applied with a doe-foot applicator. Something every woman should have in her stash. $20

LashGASM Mascara

Everyone has her own favorite mascara or type of mascara. Probably because of the shape of my eyes and the way my lashes grow, I prefer mascara wands that have plastic teeth and often short plastic teeth. LashGasm has that kind of applicator. I’ve been using this product for a couple of years, but somehow I have never done a formal review. My bad because this is a good one!

I find the slim wand easier to use than a big, fluffy wand.

In fact, I know many women adore Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara, but I found that it just clumped and made a mess for me. I guess I need a wand that pulls my lashes out and coats them smoothly. Some might say that this is more of a lengthening mascara than a volumizing one, but LashGASM gives me enough volume while adding to the length to my already pretty long lashes with no clumping whatsoever. $21

Chocolate Bon Bons Shadow Palette

Truth be told, it was the heart-shaped pans that made Chocolate Bon Bons Shadow Palette (reviewed and swatched here) a must-have for me. And the chocolate scent didn’t hurt either.

Turns out Chocolate Bon Bons Shadow Palette was a good purchase for me. The cool tones suit me. Plus some of the shades like the raspberry “Totally Fetch” that also serves as a blush and the deep blue/grey “Earl Grey”, are unlike other shades that I own.

The Chocolate Bon Bons Palette contains 14 shadows, a mix of shimmer and mattes, plus two highlighters. $49

Sweet Peach Shadow Palette

Too Faced wasn’t kidding when they announced that the Sweet Peach Shadow Palette that came out in early spring was a limited edition. I stayed up till 3am to order it online, and it sold out very quickly. I’m glad I got it! I thought they’d release it, but they haven’t. I heard that Too Faced is coming out with a Sweet Peach blush palette, and I’m sure that’ll be lovely too. Act fast when it launches if you plan to try to pick it up!

Sweet Peach is a gorgeous palette that I need to start using. I’ve only used it once or twice so far. Not sure what I’m waiting for because it’s so flattering. Peach really is a great shade to set off blue eyes.

The 18 shadows are a mix of warm and cool tones. My favorite shades are the peachy-pink “Just Peachy”, peach “Caramelized”, and the green-gold “Bless Her Heart”. In addition to the peachy and a few light shades, there are quite a few deep browns and purple tones that will be great for fall and winter or for smokey eyes.

Plus the peach scent that this palette exudes is heavenly. Let’s hope that the blush palette is just as terrific!

So these are some of my favorites from Too Faced. What would you add to the list?

  1. I might have to try that Lip Insurance. I thought that when you reviewed it too. Whether I wear makeup or not the one thing I usually always wear is lipstick. I grew up with my mother always telling me to “put on some lipstick.” 😉

    1. I like it, Laura. Before this, I was using Sealed With A Kiss, but it was so drying to my lips. Lip Insurance is better, though definitely pricier. I’m with you and your mom, I always wear lipstick – otherwise I look like a corpse 😉 Have a good weekend xoxo

  2. Great review Allison.I just started using Too Faced products after coming across a few great samples and then finding some amazing sales.I am so happy you recommend La Creme lipsticks as I just ordered one in the shade Sugar Daddy and can’t wait to get it and try it out.I always considered this a younger womans brand(not sure why)but I’m so glad I gave it a try.In the past month I’ve bought 3 products from them and am seriously loving them.My all time favorite product so far is their smoothing powder, one of the few that doesn’t dry me out and actually softens some of my wrinkles.I’m really liking the eye palettes, too bad the peach isn’t available.I’ll have to check out their blush,I’m looking for a peachy coral that’s not too bright and has a natural look but Too Faced seems so bright so I’m not sure they would be soft enough.Always nice to discover new products. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Laura! I know what you mean about being targeted to a younger woman – I think you’re right, but the heart-shaped makeup got me anyway! I haven’t used the foundations yet coz I haven’t been able to get a good shade match with Born This Way, but all the other products are fine on my skin. Next time I need powder, I’ll try the Smoothing Powder you recommended!!

  3. Please do more of this type of post, Allison, I seriously enjoyed reading it! I’ve only tried a few stuff from Too Faced (HangoverRx Primer, Chocolate Soliel Bronzer) and I have the eye primer waiting to be used but never tried any of these listed here. I like the results of the mascara on your lashes, I’m going to give it a go when I finish at least a couple of my mascaras.

    1. Thank you, Shireen! I’ll do some more, for sure. I’ve heard good things about Hangover Primer but I haven’t tried it yet. The Lemon Drop Eyey Insurance migrated into my eyes, but I know loads of women love the TF eye primers and I’m sure you’ll have good luck with it. Let me know when you use it. The blushes, especially the Love Flush line, are incredibly long wearing. I would like to try the Born This Way foundation and concealer but I’m having a hard time finding a color match…but I hear the formula is terrific.

        1. If you mean the Milani foundation/concealer that came out in Late March, I think, yes I have tried it in two different shades and neither one suited me – way too yellow. However, the foundation/concealer itself was very nice – I think I reviewed it along with some other spring products from the brand. I ended up giving them away because the shades just didn’t work for me. If I remember correctly, it is full coverage and at least medium weight. I have only swatched TF BTW so I can’t make a comparison, but BTW has a separate foundation and separate concealer. I’m not sure, but I thought that BTW was supposed to be a water serum type foundation but I could be wrong on that

  4. Great choices! I love Too Faced, although I’m allergic to their mascaras. I’d add the two Chocolate bar palettes, the Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette, the Hangover Replenishing Face Primer, and the Love Flushed blushes (especially Baby Love).

    1. Those are great additions to the list, Rachel! I would have added Love Flush but I can’t find mine. I know it’s around someplace! I’ll have to take a look at Baby Love next time. Mine is one of the deeper shades. The chocolate bar palettes look great, and I think PJB would suit me. Wish I could get them all!

      1. PB & J looks great with red hair. I forgot to mention Shadow Insurance. It’s my HG primer for my oily eyelids.

        1. The shades in PB&J definitely look like redhead shades. I’m glad to hear that you have good luck with Shadow Insurance! I tried the lemon version and unfortunately, it migrated on me so I’ve been sticking with UD Anti-aging Eye Primer. But I have heard that lots of women love Shadow Insurance.

  5. Great picks. I always forget about Lip Insurance but I really should use it more. It helps so much with keeping lipstick on longer. I love the heart shapes that TF uses too. I have a few that aren’t my favorites but they have hearts so what could I do?

  6. I loved seeing your favourites. All of these are on my list as well, except for the elusive Sweet Peach palette, which I missed out on. I heard they would launch it again in December, so hopefully I can get it then.

  7. I have a bit of TF in my collection, but none of these products. I still need to pick up the Bon Bons palette but I’m thinking the lip primer might have to join it. It sounds really useful.

  8. Ooh – Honey Bear is such a gorgeous shade. I love my Bon Bons palette… especially the highlight shades, they are my fave. I didn’t get the sweet peach, but I think the colors are definitely pretty.
