Shine Brightening Oil

A few months ago, I wrote about Wink Lash Serum from Amalie Beauty (review here). I love the serum and the easy to use applicator with the built-in brush. I was also sent a face oil which I immediately misplaced. Three months later, it turned up in my bathroom closet.

I’ve been using Shine Brightening Oil for a few weeks. It is “crafted with pomegranate oil, licorice, bearberry and argan oil”. Also according to the label, the benefits include:

  • fade blemishes
  • moisturize dry skin
  • brighten dark spots.

I’ve been using it primarily to moisturize my dry skin, and it works very well in that capacity. I’ve been applying it after belif Hungarian Water Essence and before my night cream. It is a relatively lightweight oil that takes about 5 minutes or so to sink in. Sometimes I wait the 5 minutes to apply my night cream, and other times, I just go for it. Sometimes I skip the night cream altogether when I’m using Shine because it’s so hydrating on its own. It definitely adds a heck of a lot of moisture. My skin feels much more supple and much less dry in the morning when I wake up than if I don’t use it.

For me, the only small drawback is the rather strong jasmine scent. I love scented everything, but unfortunately, jasmine is one of the few scents that I dislike. However, the moisturizing benefit outweighs the scent and I’m keeping at it.

Shine in a dark apothecary style bottle with glass dropper contains 0.34 fl. oz./10 ml. Made in the US. Available on the Amalie Beauty website. $60

Actually Organic 100% Moroccan Argan Oil

This Argan Oil is just that: Actually Organic 100% Moroccan Argan Oil. It’s USDA certified organic.

Actually Organic 100% Argan Oil, neversaydiebeauty.com

As you may know, argan oil comes from nuts grown on trees in Morocco. Unlike some other brands of argan oil that claim to be 100% pure but have been diluted, altered, or artificially changed, Actually Organic truly is 100% Pure Moroccan Argan Oil. “No Rancid Smell. No other oils mixed in. No Fragrances to cover up poor quality. This is not synthetic Argan Oil. No preservatives and No Chemicals. No Heat – Cold Pressed. Only Pure Argan Oil.” In sourcing their argan oil, Actually Organic lab tested over a 100 different sources in order to bring consumers the purest and highest quality product.

Rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins A and E, argan oil is a multitasker that can be used on hair, skin and nails. It is anti-aging: it restores elasticity, nourishes and moisturizes, restores nutrients to skin cells, and treats skin conditions. Argan oil is good for the scalp and it eliminates dandruff. It also makes my hair shiny and manageable. I apply it about 15 minutes before I shampoo. I also love it for softening and strengthening my nails. I use it almost every night, and I love how fast it gets absorbed.

Actually Organic 100% Pure Argan Oil comes in an amber apothecary bottle with a pump top. It’s available in three sizes: 1, 2 and 4 fl. oz., ranging from $11.99-23.99. It’s sold on the Actually Organic website. 100% Pure Moroccan Argan oil is Actually Organic’s first product, but they will soon be launching an entire line of food and plant-based beauty products. Can’t wait to see what’s next!

Have you tried either of these two oils?

  1. These sound absolutely amazing to me! I love Jasmine, and wonder if this is too strong for me! It is very hard for me to resist a good beauty oil, and Argan is such a fantastic nourishing oil!

    1. If you love jasmine, you would love this, Helen. It isn’t too strong, it’s just that I strongly dislike that scent. But I love the Shine oil! The argan oil from Actually Organic is quite terrific. I’m eager to see what they do next!

  2. What a great idea to use the Argan Oil prior to shampoo. I’ve noticed a drier scalp this winter and I bet that would help. With Shine I’m surprised that I don’t mind the fragrance too much. I find it heavier than I can use during the day but I’ll use it as a nighttime moisturizer if I start getting ready early.

    1. That’s so funny, Marcia. I was sure you’d find it too strong. I am not a jasmine fan at all, but I really like the oil so I power through it! About the argan oil, I love it pre shampoo and it instantly sinks in to hydrate my nails – no gloves necessary!

    1. Yes, I do wish that Shine had a different scent but I really love the weight of the oil and how great my skin feels when I use it so I’m shouldering through!
