Full Coverage and No Kidding: Exuviance CoverBlend Concealing Treatment Makeup SPF 30

For most of my life, I wore no foundation makeup at all. I was lucky, I had great skin. I remember buying a bottle of liquid foundation once in the ’80s, but I didn’t really use it much.

But 30+ years later, my great skin isn’t quite as great. The years of sunbathing without sunscreen when I was young was a mistake my mom warned me about but that I ignored. I also have spent quite a bit of time jogging, gardening or hanging out at the beach wearing sunscreen, but even that has its risks. So now I have dark spots that I’ve been working on fading and fine lines and wrinkles from the passage of time. Foundation has become my friend.

I am always on the hunt for the perfect foundation. Although I have several that I like a lot, I never turn down an opportunity to try something new.

Exuviance, a skincare brand that I love, recently sent me a tube of Exuviance CoverBlend Concealing Treatment Makeup with sunscreen broad spectrum SPF 30. It was instant love. In fact, this review just about wrote itself.

Exuviance CoverBlend Concealing Treatment Makeup is a foundation and concealer in one. Full coverage as promised. It was designed to cover acne, birthmarks, dark spots, tattoos, redness/rosacea, dark circles under eyes, and scars. In fact, Exuviance lists the foundation as “medical makeup” which I first thought was a little weird. Truth be told, this makeup covers everything, but it doesn’t feel heavy at all or look cakey or seem like “medical makeup”. It provides a flawless, natural finish.

For those who want more detail, I would describe the foundation as medium weight and creamy. A little goes a long way. On occasion, I’ll put an extra dab on my darkest dark spot, but most times I don’t need to. It doesn’t settle into my lines. You’ll laugh – when I first received it, I thought I was supposed to use a lot (I don’t know why I thought that!) I actually applied too much foundation, and after wearing it for about 10 hours, it had settled into my pores which surprised me. Applying less, I have had no problems at all. I usually wear it for 8-12 hours and the wear is terrific. It feels lightweight, and I forget I’m wearing it.

Exuviance CoverBlend Concealing Makeup comes in an airless tube that helps maintain freshness and efficacy. I squeeze out a small amount, and most of the time I apply it with a blending sponge. A foundation brush, either a flat foundation brush or kabuki, work well too. I tried applying it with my fingers once, but that did not work out as well IMHO. I love the natural-looking finish I get with the sponge. Also, I don’t bother with a primer because it has dimethicone in it, and it doesn’t seem to need one. I have tried it with and without primer, and I like it better without.

Because CoverBlend Concealing Treatment Makeup comes from skincare leader, Exuviance, it contains anti-aging benefits including antioxidant-rich Polyhydroxy Acid Gluconolacctone, an ingredient that Exuviance often uses in their skincare products to soften lines and wrinkles. I also like the fact that the foundation contains physical sunscreen from Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide at the SPF 30 level.

I was so impressed with this full coverage foundation that I wondered if it was just me. I honestly loved it so much, I wanted to review it after the first wear, but I made myself use it for a few weeks before writing this review. Just for a reality check, I read just about all 239 reviews on Ulta’s website. Exuviance CoverBlend Concealing Treatment Makeup is rated 4.2 out of 5 on Ulta, and the vast majority of reviews gave it 5 stars because of the great coverage and lightweight feel on the skin. Yay!

Here’s me wearing Exuviance CoverBlend with just one thin application. No special makeup today. Just heading out to do errands. When I take off my glasses, you can definitely see where they pinched my nose. Oh well.

Exuviance CoverBlend Concealing Treatment Makeup SPF 30 that covers, treats and protects comes in 9 shades ranging from light to deep. My shade is Bisque, a light shade with pink undertones, and I think it’s a perfect match for me. The foundation is water-based, wax-free, non-comedogenic, and good for all skin types. The tube contains 1 oz. and is priced at $40. It is a little pricey though in line with other upscale foundations. Plus a little goes a long way. Available on the parent brand, NeoStrata website, and at Ulta Beauty where you can take also advantage of the following offer Free Body Tone and Triple Microdermabrasion with any Exuviance purchase (offer valid 1/8/17-1/28/17 or while supplies last) (I have the Triple Microdermabrasion and it’s an amazing exfoliator!).

If you have something to hide, definitely check out this terrific full coverage foundation. Have you tried it yet?

    1. I know what you mean, Shireen. This isn’t mask like at all. The coverage is very natural. But I love that it covers most of my dark spots with one application, and only when necessary do I need to dab more on my two harder to cover dark spots. And I got a great color match. Win win for me!

  1. Waving Hi ?? I am adding this to my “List of things” to check out at Ulta & Sephora. The list is getting long. ? But oh so fun. ? This Exuviance Make-up sounds like Dermablend. At the moment I am using Laura Gellers powder make-up Balance & Brighten. I also use It Cosmetics powder make-up. Enjoy your day……..?

    1. Absolutely right, DiEtta! I was going to mention it vs. Dermablend in my review but I decided to leave it. The Dermablend that I was sent wasn’t as good a color match for me so I don’t wear it as often. I really hit the nail on the head with this one. I haven’t tried enough Laura Geller, but I should. I was just looking at my IT Cosmetics powder foundation today as a matter of fact. In winter, though, it’s a bit too dry for my dry skin. Congrats on the GreenBay win last night. What an exciting game!

  2. I love full coverage foundations because of my rosacea and eczema. I also love a natural look. This sounds awesome, I’ll have to look it up in my shade. Thanks for the review. Also, that’s amazing you didn’t “need” Foundation – I envy woman who have such beautiful skin (as you still do!!)

  3. I still haven’t tried this brand, but this does sound like an exceptional product. There are times when I would like a more full cover, but usually hate how they feel on skin., so this sounds like the perfect balance.

    1. I was surprised too, Marcia. It turns out they have an entire CoverBlend line, and it appears that this product was repackaged into a tube and perhaps the formula changed a bit, though I’m not sure. They also make a concealer, but honestly you don’t need a separate concealer when using this. It’s a keeper!

    1. I think it would do a good job of covering her redness, and it feels so lightweight you forget you’re wearing it. Worth a trip to Ulta to give it a try!

    1. Yes, Exuviance is the sister brand to NeoStrata. Frankly, I’m not sure why they have two brands, but they’re both terrific. This foundation and concealer in one is just amazing. Wow.
