My post on the Estée Lauder Lilly Pulitzer Spring/Summer 2013 Promotion has driven the most traffic to my site of anything I’ve written. The promotion that consists of makeup bags in different shapes and Lilly Pulitzer historic fabric patterns with different Estée Lauder skincare and makeup products has clearly been a success for both brands. The lure of the colorful and fun Lilly Pulitzer bags encouraged me to try Estée Lauder products again after a hiatus of many years. And I’m so glad I did.
Lilly Pulitzer died on Sunday, April 7, and I am embarrassed to say that I thought she had already passed away. In spite of being a huge fan of her tropical patterns and brightly colored fashions, I knew remarkably little about this style pioneer. Her personal story is compelling. A bad girl, college drop-out, bored socialite housewife was desperate for something to do. Her road to creating contemporary fashions that reflected the change taking place in the 1960s began at a juice bar, selling juice from her husband’s orange groves, that she started with a friend in Palm Beach. OK, back to the makeup. During the March promotion at Macy’s, I purchased an Estée Lauder lipgloss and masacara, and I received the goodie-filled makeup bag in the Snapdragon pattern from 2003. I got to try samples of the mascara, lipstick, night repair serum, as well as Resilience Eye Creme and Resilience Moisturizer with SPF 15, and now I’m a fan of them all.
