I love starting a new season with new makeup, especially make up in pretty colors! So I was excited to receive a nice big box from Jesse’s Girl a couple of weeks ago. Let’s get into it!

Dream Girl Eyeshadow Palette

I have Jesse’s Girl “The Eyes Have It” eyeshadow palette that I picked up at RiteAid in Atlanta a while back on a business trip, and I wrote about it here. It’s the shadow palette that I go to when I need a change of pace because it has a couple of gorgeous shades of green and aqua in the mix along with some pretty neutrals. They still sell “The Eyes Have It”, and it’s definitely worth checking it out if you’d like to try a different look.

For spring, Jesse’s Girl sent me their “Dream Girl” palette to try. It’s a cool-toned palette with shades of plum and neutrals. It’s made up of mattes and shimmers. Contrasting the “Dream Girl” palette with my beloved “The Eyes Have It” palette, I would have to say that “Dream Girl” is less pigmented, and a couple of the shades are so close to my skin tone that they don’t show up on me at all. Even on top of eye primer, these shades do not shout. Nevertheless, there are a few shades that I really like, and I find myself using them most often as singles in combination with other shadows I own.

They are buttery shadows, and I had no powdery fallout in spite of the fact that talc is the first ingredient. The color of the shades in the photo below are quite accurate.

Let’s take a look at the shades and swatches. In fact, I’m going to show you two different swatch photos in different daylight situations because some shades show up better in one than in another. I tried doing finger swatches but when I photographed them, all of the lighter shades photographed white, so we’ll skip that. In fact, the first five shades look very similar to each other when they’re swatched although when they’re worn, you can see the subtle shade variations.

  • white matte: Although not overly pigmented, I actually prefer this subtle white for using in the inner corner or under my brow because it doesn’t scream WHITE
  • pale rose gold shimmer: This is one of my favorites in the palette. No surprise, right? It has a golden rose gold glow to it that I love. Nice and buttery.
  • pale taupe shimmer: Another nice pale neutral shade. Also nice and buttery.
  • pale raisin shimmer: Same as above!
  • pale pink matte: Pretty to use under the brow bone or on the lid. Again, it’s pale and can look white on.
  • plum matte: This is the shade I use most often as a crease or V shade. I often reach for the palette just to use this shade with other shadows I own.
  • light plum shimmer: Another pretty, light shimmery shade that I use on my lids.
  • medium taupe/grey matte: A versatile shade that I use in my crease or occasionally on my lid to set off my blue eyes. I like this cool-toned neutral.
  • deep purple with tiny bronze glitter: This shade is both beautiful and unusual. It would make a great smokey eye. I tried it, but at my age, it was too much as the star of the show, better for me as an accent. It’s a shame it didn’t show up well in the swatches.

In addition to “Dream Girl” and “The Eyes Have It”, there are 3 other palettes. At $3.99 for a 9 pan palette, these shadow palettes are a bargain.

Fluid Shadow

Jesse’s Girl introduced a new line of liquid shadows called Fluid Shadow. I’ve seen the full line on other bloggers’ websites, and there are 12 shades that range from pastels to jewel tones. They look so pretty in their tubes. I received Snowflake, a cool white shimmer, and Purple Haze, a deep plum matte.

I was very excited to get them, but in all honesty, I haven’t been able to figure out a way that I can use them effectively. On my eyelid, they are a little messy and patchy even over primer. I tried applying with my finger or with a brush, and neither method worked well for me. Also, with my dry eyelids, these are too drying.

Not to be outdone by eyeshadow, I thought they might make nice eyeliner. The small brush that comes with them is just a bit too thick IMO to apply eyeliner, so I tried a real eyeliner brush. Unfortunately, that didn’t do much better. The formula didn’t stay put or show up well enough.

I give up. These Fluid Shadows are not for me which is too bad because the shades are so pretty. $4.99

Liquid Eyeliner

I’m a long time fan of Jesse’s Girl liquid eyeliner. In fact, I already own JG liquid eyeliner in black and brown. I love the easy to use pin-point tips that are either tiny brush tips or felt tips. Jesse’s Girl Liquid Eyeliner is one of the few liquid eyeliners that I can use successfully.

It was time to replace the black liner I’ve had for a while, so I was happy to get a new one. It has the brush tip. And the white liner was intriguing. I decided to try the white felt tip eyeliner on top of a dark eyeshadow so it would show up. It did but unfortunately the eye shadow discolored the felt tip, though it doesn’t seem to alter the color when I use it. I tried the white liquid liner on my waterline which was a dumb idea. It burns!

The liquid eyeliners come in seven shades including navy, blue Hawaii, violet, olive. They’re great! I need the navy and olive next.  $6.99

    1. The first palette I bought, The Eyes Have It, has fantastic pigmentation. Dream Girls is definitely decent but not as good as the first one. Nevertheless, some of the shades are so useful that I use it quite often. The eyeliners are fantastic especially for the price but in general they’re the easiest liquids to use

    1. Dream Girls is a pretty palette with nice cool-toned neutrals in time for spring. But The Eyes Have It is still one of my all-time favorite palettes coz I love the shades and the pigmentation is fab!

    1. I’m glad I’m not the only one, Kristina! The Eyes Have It, however, remains one of my favorite palettes because the pigmentation is great!

  1. Morning……🙋🏻 It’s Monday ☕☕🍩🍩 I really like the look of these eye shadows and the price range is really good. Going to look for them. 👁👁. I’m going to try Maybellines Rewind Concealer too. Read some reviews that it’s a good one. 😱 Enjoy your day. ☀️🌻😍

  2. Those fluid shadows interest me. I wonder what would be the best way to apply it since you’ve been having trouble. hmmmm. I’ve been wanting to try the Liquid Liners from Jesse’s Girl and your thoughts just convinced me to finally try it!

  3. I really like having light shadows in a palette but then I want more contrast too. The Anastasia palette I like has nothing light so this Jesse’s Girl would be great to use with it. $3.99 is such a bargain.

  4. I got the Jesse’s Girl eyeliner a few months back but haven’t actually tried it yet. I’ve heard such good things about it though, especially in comparison to higher end eyeliners that this just reminds me to actually test it out

  5. I’ve not found any Jesses Girl products locally, but I have tried the Eyes have It palette since someone sent it to me awhile back. I’m sorry to hear the liquid eyeshadows didn’t work well for you.

    1. I always forget about RiteAid because there aren’t as many of them near me, but I need to go and seek out the navy and olive liquid liners coz they are the best! I initially bought them online via Groupon Goods!

    1. I need to get in the habit of shopping RiteAid but they’re harder to find near me too. I initially tried the liquid liners via Groupon Goods. It was a great deal!

  6. Great reviews! I’m not huge on green shades or shadows but I can see what you mean about some of the shades on the other palate being WAY to close to your skin tone to be much use..

    1. I know that green isn’t everyone’s thing, but I find it looks very nice with blue eyes and red hair. Yes, I was surprised that the purples palette just didn’t have quite the oomph I expected after using the green/earth tones palette.
