Recently I was sent four shades of Burt’s Bees Liquid Lipsticks to try out.

Burt's Bees Liquid Lipstick tubes: Lavender Lake, Flushing Petal, Garnet Glacier, Coral Cove, neversaydiebeauty.com

I freaked out when I opened the box, and not in a good way. As I’ve said a million times, I can’t really wear liquid lipstick on my super dry lips. I actually sent the PR person an email asking why they sent me liquid lipstick when I had asked for another lipstick.

Then I tried Burt’s Bees Liquid Lipsticks, and I did a complete 180.

First, I have no idea why these pretties are called “Liquid Lipstick”. They’re not. They’re not liquid. They’re a velvety cream. Frankly, using terms that we all know, I would say they are lip glosses. They don’t dry down. They are not matte. They are not long-wearing (they’ll come off on your coffee cup).

But they are gorgeous. They provide rich, opaque color. They have a beautiful glossy shine. They are beyond friendly to dry lips because they are loaded with oils. And the hydration that they provide lasts and lasts, like all day even if the color doesn’t. They’re not sticky, but they are juicy. If you’re a fan of lip gloss, then these are for you. They’re definitely for me!

The applicator is a bent, tapered wand that makes application a breeze. The Burt’s Bees Liquid Lipsticks cover in one or two swipes depending on the shade. If you don’t eat or drink, the color lasts for about 2 or 3 hours, but the hydration goes on and on, like all day.

I don’t detect a fragrance or flavor.

Burt’s Bees Liquid Lipsticks are 100% natural.  They contain conditioning Apricot and Babassu Oil, Shea Butter and essential fatty acids.  They are formulated without parabens, phthalates, petrolatum or SLS.

Ingredients: ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, oleic/linoleic/linolenic polyglycerides, lanolin, polyhydroxystearic acid, mica, silica, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, cera alba [beeswax], C12-18 acid triglyceride, sorbitan sesquioleate, hydrogenated apricot kernel oil, hydrogenated apricot oil unsaponifiables, prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil unsaponifiables, orbignya oleifera seed oil, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, glycine soja (soybean) oil, tocopherol, citric acid, aroma [flavor]*, ammonium glycyrrhizate, benzyl alcohol, limonene, linalool, may contain [+/-]: CI 75470 [carmine], CI 77491 •CI 77492•CI 77499 [iron oxides], CI 77891 [titanium dioxide] *aroma naturel / natural flavor

They come in 12 shades, and they are priced around $10. I received 4 beautiful shades:

  • Coral Cove 820: A pink mauve shade with a slight golden shimmer that for me is a MLBB color

  • Peony Puddle 804: On me, it’s more like a caramel shade with a slight golden shimmer. Love it!

  • Garnet Glacier 822: This garnet red is a deeply pigmented stunner. Not surprisingly, it’s my favorite.

  • Lavender Lake 831: To me, this is a browned lavender. Before I tried it, I thought  could never wear it. I was wrong. This will be a great autumn shade.

  1. I would definitely wear the Garnet Glacier shade on date night with hubby. This is a lovely color.

    1. Garnet Glacier is even more beautiful in person, Donna. I think it’s a perfect red. Thank you for being the first one to enter, and good luck 🙂

  2. Allison that Garnet Glacier looks so good on you. You must add it to your daily regimen. So so nice. My favorite would be Lavender Lake. I could wear it while “doing dishes” in my “robe.” 😱😂 Have a great day. I’m on crochet pattern #5 with Crocheting for a Cause. Keeping me busy.

    1. I wish I could wear red lipstick like this everyday, DiEtta, lol. But I did wear Coral Cove and my lips are so soft! I wish I had been sent extras of all four shades, but it’s just the red. I think you’d look fabulous in Lavender Lake xo

  3. They look very nice and I like that they are hydrating too!! I would wear it out on a date with my husband!! Thank you so much for the giveaway!!

    1. If you’re a red lover, this is a great almost anytime lipstick. The red is stunning, and it keeps your lips so soft. Thank you for entering, Tracy, and good luck!

  4. I would wear this shade for a party. Although I’ve been rethinking when I can wear bolder shades.

    1. I hear ya, Lynne. As much as I wish I could wear bold shades like red or purple often, I just can’t here in the ‘burbs. But when I go out, I love me a good red like this gorgeous shade! Thanks for entering and good luck!

  5. That is a pretty dark color for me, but I would wear it if I were to go to a holiday gathering.

  6. This deep red probably wouldn’t work well with my coloring, so I’d gift it to one of my daughters-in-law.

    1. I was so surprised by them, Stacie. They really don’t seem like “liquid lipstick” to me, but they’re terrific hydrating glosses!

  7. I would wear it for date night with the boyfriend. Or for a night out with the girls. I think it can be worn anytime you feel like it. It looks great on you.

    1. Thank you, Christy! I love me a red lipstick! You’re right, any shade of lipstick can be worn whenever…although since I moved to the ‘burbs, I don’t wear red lipstick as often during the day as I did when I lived in NYC – I guess I’m a sheep after all 😉

  8. These sound amazing. I’d probably wear this for an event that I know isn’t going to be super long, or that I could touch up during, and that I won’t have to eat through. If I don’t win I’ll probably pick one up for when I graduate with Bachelor’s degree in a year or so!

    1. That sounds about right, Cassie! Glad you entered the giveaway, and good luck! On another topic, are you in both college and cosmetology school? You’re a busy lady!

      1. I got an Associate’s Degree in General Education in 2012 but couldn’t get anyone to hire me because it’s to general. I started blogging in the meantime as a way to make a little bit of money here and there through Adsense and Sponsored posts (as a blogger you can probably guess how well that worked out) and I fell into beauty blogging and fell in love with it. I decided to go back to school in 2015 and get a degree in Cosmetology because South Carolina is a no touch state which means you have to have the degree and take the boards to get certified (even though a TON of people don’t do that). I finished Cosmetology school in December 2016 but the boards lost my paperwork so I couldn’t immediately sit for the boards. I had learned that the Small Business Association likes to give small business loans to those who have “back up plans” when the time comes for them to open their own salon so while the State Board was trying to get the paperwork issue worked out I decided to get another Associate’s Degree in Computer Programming which I LOVE…actually more than Cosmetology which is a good thing because my Cosmetology hours run out in two months and they still haven’t worked out all the issues. I graduated this past may with my second Associate’s and was trying to transfer to a 4-year school for a Bachelor’s in Computer Science (working towards a Masters in Education so I can teach computers at the college level one day) that is supposed to have a matriculation agreement with the 2-year I went to with full rides to those from STEM programs going into STEM programs (plus I have a 4.0) BUT the two schools I was talking to don’t want to honor it for me…Talk to me next week to see how that’s playing out.

I am so sorry for the super long detailed response. Feel free to delete if you want!

        1. Wow, Cassie, I admire you for hanging in there through all of this confusion! I hope you are able to transfer to a 4 year program and get your B.S. in programming. Fingers crossed that the two schools get their act together!

    1. Thanks for entering the Burt’s Bees Liquid Lipstick giveaway, Nickie. Just want to make sure that you know the giveaway is for the red Garnet Glacier. But Coral Cover is so pretty too – hope you pick it up at some point.

    1. No, it doesn’t feather coz it’s a cream. It stays put and I don’t bother with a lipliner. The bent applicator makes it so easy to apply.

  9. I love a red lip any day and don’t need a special occasion. Garnet Glacier is really pretty and my favorite of these four too!

  10. I would wear Burt’s Bees Liquid Lipstick in Garnet Glacier when I go out to dinner or to a concert.

  11. All of these are absolutely stunning. I would wear coral cove for my office. I love coral peach shades in lipsticks. Red looks so pretty on you Allison.

    1. Uma, I’m wearing Coral Cove from Burt’s Bees right now, and it is such a great work shade or anytime shade. Love it too though reds are always my faves.
