I finished up my second tube of Paula’s Choice Resist Skin Restoring Moisturizer SPF 50 a few weeks ago. I love it because it’s lightweight, doesn’t leave a white cast, it has a dewy finish that I like, and it is rated SPF 50. It’s perfect for warm weather and the outdoor seasons. But rather than reorder now, I decided I needed a slightly heavier daytime moisturizer. And because I’m not outdoors nearly as much, I thought that SPF 30 would suffice.

Enter PCA Skin Hydrator Plus Broad Spectrum SPF 30. I received this daytime moisturizer quite a while ago, but it fell through the cracks. October seemed like the perfect time to get it into the rotation!

First, I like the pump and I like that the cream doesn’t get crusty when it comes out of the pump like some others do. It is a white, medium weight moisturizer. It has no or an almost imperceptible scent – in other words, it smells like nothing.

The cream contains dimethicone so it goes on smoothly and dries almost instantaneously to a semi-matte or matte finish. It doesn’t ball up or interfere with primer or foundation.

My skin feels hydrated and protected when I wear it. It contains sodium hyaluronate for hydration along with panthenol and antioxidant vitamin E to nourish skin and help protect from free radicals.

PCA Skin Hydrator Plus Broad Spectrum SPF 30 contains both chemical and physical sunscreens, and it doesn’t leave a white cast on my skin.

The bottle contains 1.7 oz./48 g and is priced at $36, though the price varied somewhat according to where it is sold. It’s sold on the PCA Skin website, Dermstore.com, Lovelyskin.com, Skincare Market, and Jet.com. My favorite skincare retailers Dermstore.com and Lovelyskin.com both have frequent 20% off sales and always have free shipping. PCA Skin is cruelty-free and is free of synthetic dyes and fragrances.

If you’re looking for a daytime moisturizer that hydrates and protects for fall/winter, I recommend PCA Skin Hydrator Plus Broad Spectrum SPF 30.

    1. I have really loved almost every PCA Skin product I’ve tried! I tried a serum this past summer, and I loved it. Their eye gel is one of my all-time favorites. Great stuff!

  1. I break out w/ chemical sunscreens, unfortunately. By 2021, all chemical sunscreens will be banned here in Hawaii so all retailers are starting to carry only physical ones

    1. I have heard that Hawaii has begun to ban chemical sunscreens to protect the reefs. Definitely a good move. I wonder if the skincare companies are going to wait till the last minute to change their formulas?

  2. Sunscreen all day every day! I don’t think I ever tried anything from PCA Skin but I heard nothing but good things about their products, especially the famous peel.

  3. This sounds great and I am super impressed that it doesn’t go crusty in the pump. That little hard thing is one of the worst things ever (they seriously bother me 😄)

  4. I rarely use anything other than a BB creme with sun screen since none behave well with my skin. But I’m interested as to what will happen with what KATHRYNE mentioned! I love that they are doing that!

    1. Not getting crusty in the pump is such a big deal. I recently reviewed another brand, and though I loved the cream inside, it does get crusty in the pump, grrrrr!
