Ipsy Plus for August 2019 “Bare Yourself”

the contents of my Ipsy Plus subscription box for August 2019

As usual, I am delighted with my “Bare Yourself” Ipsy Plus box for August. I just think they really get me, and I am seldom disappointed with my monthly full size cosmetics subscription.

The “Bare Yourself” theme does seem to fit with August. But the products don’t necessarily fit with the theme, though I can’t say that I care. 😉

Here’s what came in my box:

the contents of the cosmetics in my August 2019 Ipsy Glam Bag Plus out of their outer packaging and open to show how they look

  • Purlisse Blue Lotus Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30: I received another Purlisse Blue Lotus Moisturizer without sunscreen in the past, and I liked that. Although I have 2 ultra lightweight sunscreens that I love, I was happy to get a moisturizer with sunscreen that’s created for normal/dry/sensitive skin. I’ve worn it for the past couple of days, and I like it a lot. Not heavy or greasy in the least! I really like Purlisse skincare. 1.7 fl. oz./50 ml $45
  • Hey Honey Take It Off Exfoliating Honey Peel Off Mask: I wrote about a Hey Honey Serum Primer a few months ago that I love, so again I was pleased to get to try something else from Hey Honey. I haven’t had a chance to use this yet, but I think peel off masks are fun, and I love honey everything. One thing that seems a bit unusual is the instructions say to apply a light moisturizer after cleansing and before applying the mask. I never heard of that before. Worth trying! 1.7 fl. oz./50 ml $38
  • Smith & Cult Nail Lacquer, shade Forever Fades Fast: I adore Smith & Cult products because they are so gorgeously packaged, and the stuff inside never disappoints either. Plus, it’s 8-free. The shade Forever Fades Fast is my perfect shade: a pink-mauve-nude combination. And the bottle and cap are stunning. Unfortunately for me, I jammed my thumb in a folding chair by accident back in June. My nail turned black due to the pooled blood under my nail, and two months later, my nail is beginning to grow out and peel off. I am afraid to wear nail polish over it since it is a 2-level nail at this point. I hate waiting to wear this gorgeous polish. 0.5 fl. oz./14 ml $18

  • F.A.R.A.H. Show Me Magic Eye Brush Set: I can always use more eye makeup brushes, and this set of 5 is a good one. Very soft, densely packed synthetic bristles with attractive clear to aqua ombre faceted plastic handles. I’ll get a lot of use out of these. 5 brushes for $50
  • theBalm In the Balm of Your Hand Greatest Hits Volume 2: I have never owned a shadow palette from theBalm so I was excited to see this palette in the box. When I opened the palette, I discovered that it contains 4 neutral eyeshadows in a range of finishes, an ivory shimmer (Mary-Lou Manizer that I don’t already own) that can be used as shadow or highlighter, 3 blushes, and a milk chocolate shade that can be used as a shadow, bronzer or contour shade. Very versatile! It’s got a nice big mirror under the lid. $32

In addition to my monthly box, I used some of my Ipsy points before they expired to buy Berry + Juice Vegan Lip Gel. I forgot that I ordered this so it was a surprise. It’s a slippery lipgloss/balm made with shea butter, seed oils, and blackberry and raspberry extracts. Maybe because of the fruit extracts, it smells/tastes like natural berries. It’s a pretty sparkly rose that enhances lips. It feels like an oil. Although I don’t like it as much as I like the ultra thick Clarins Lip Oil, it’s pretty to look at, and I think I may like it over lipstick for shine and hydration.

So, that’s Ipsy Plus for August. The value of the items in the box is $183, worth much more than the $25 I paid for it. As usual, if you should want to subscribe, re-up or move up to the value-oriented full size box, please consider using my referral code.

If you subscribe already, what did you get in your box for August?

  1. Interesting products for the theme!! Hope you enjoy them. Was visiting Kim last week and came home with a ton of products. She always shares the things that don’t work for her…..gotta love my beautiful daughter.

  2. I’m surprised that I don’t have my box yet. I did add an a $3 extra (Thrive mini mascara) so maybe that held it up. I hope I get the palette.

    1. How did I miss that $3 Thrive mascara mini?? Hope you’ve gotten your box by now. Did you see the email this morning with changes to the program?

      1. I received my box on Monday but just have two of the same items (The Balm and the brushes. I’m not sure what the new program will entail. It didn’t quite make sense to me.
