Holiday Makeup Beauties from Lancôme: Rose Highlighter, L’absolu Rouge Crystal Lipsticks & Friends/Family Sale!

Sparkling and glowing makeup are my obsession, and I have some limited edition holiday makeup to share with you from Lancôme! They are so beautiful that I have been wearing them almost daily, in spite of the fact that no one sees them other than Jeff and me.

Lancôme La Rose Highlighter

If you’re a Lancôme user, you know that the rose is the key icon in Lancôme’s logo. And this holiday season, Lancôme has launched a limited edition La Rose Highlighter in a bling-y crystal holiday compact.

The compact is made from heavy plastic with a silvery rose design. I had the compact on my bathroom vanity, and while the sun was shining through the window onto the vanity,  the packaging became holographic! It was all lit up!

But it doesn’t stop with the festive packaging. Open the compact and you will find a gorgeous 3D rose embossed on the crystal pressed powder highlighter. Gorgeous!

But truth be told, for me the highlighter itself is the real star. I don’t wear highlighter all that often because I often feel like a disco ball because many highlighters are just too bright and glittery for me. La Rose Highlighter is a multidimensional/duochrome neutral peachy-pink shade that is so flattering. In fact, I tried to swatch it, and the shade suits my skin tone so well that it’s hard to see in the photo. See what I mean?

So here it is on my finger where you can see it better.

But on my skin, it gives me a lovely glow rather than a bright disco ball sparkle. As a result, I have been using it often. I apply it right from the compact with a fan brush or a blush brush, and it is easy to blend. If you want a more intense radiance, apply it damp using a blending sponge.

Right now, Lancôme is having their Friends & Family Sale with 25% off everything, so now is the time to check out this stunning holiday or any day highlighter on the Lancôme website. Though you probably wouldn’t want to give it up since it is so beautiful, it would make an impressive holiday gift.

The La Rose Highlighter compact contains 0.22 oz., and the regular price is $49.50. But with the FF 25% off, the current price is $37.12.

Lancôme L’absolu Rouge Crystal Lipstick

I have totally fallen in love with the two limited edition L’absolu Rouge Crystal Lipsticks that I received from Lancôme. The sparkling silvery tubes look like festive wintry ice or snow. You release the lipstick by pushing down on the golden rose at the top. Very cool.

The two limited edition shades for 2020 are:

  • 196 Crystal Flame: a fabulous orange-red with gold flecks
  • 525 Crystal Sunset: a classic true red with gold flecks.

The lipstick bullets are gorgeous: they shimmer and glow with gold flecks and an embossed rose.

Both shades are so beautiful! They have the most subtle glittery gold bits that you can really only see very close up. The gold flecks seem to create a multidimensional glow on the lips that enhances the highly pigmented shades.

Lancôme L’absolu Rouge Crystal Lipstick glides effortlessly across my lips, and the formula is buildable. For me, the lipstick is opaque in two passes. I would say the finish is velvety. I don’t need a lip liner when I wear these lipsticks, though you certainly can use one if you like. It doesn’t bleed or end up in my lip lines. The formula is hydrating with ingredients Pro-Xylane and vitamin E, but it isn’t the least bit greasy. In fact, it feels weightless on my lips. I love these lipsticks so much (especially Flame because the orange-red is MY shade!) that I wear them every day. (Those strange blotches on my face are from sunlight coming through my lace curtains!)

Today, I wore Sunset as I raked the lawn for two and a half hours. When I came in to the house, I looked in the mirror and was surprised that the lipstick was still there on my lips after all that physical work.

L’absolu Rouge Crystal Lipstick does have the traditional Lancôme lipstick scent. It is very faint, and I only smell it when I first apply it.

Now for the sad part. Both Crystal Flame and Crystal Sunset are sold out on the Lancôme website, and they will not be replaced this season. Oh, I wish I had known because I would have gotten my post up sooner. But I am not surprised because these are absolutely fabulous lipsticks, and so perfect for the upcoming holidays.

I don’t know if you will be able to find these beauties at other retailers, but it is certainly worth a look. I checked Macys.com and Belk.com, and I found the 2019 L’absolu Crystal Lipsticks still available in Caprice, cranberry red, and Rose Nu, rosy nude, shades. They look lovely, and you should check them out if the L’absolu formula and the holiday packaging appeal to you.

Even though the packaging and the glittering gold flecks on the bullets are real eye-catchers, the winner here is the L’absolu formula, and that formula is available all year round. In fact, my favorite shade 196 Crystal Flame is 196 Orange Sanguine, part of the permanent collection!

I have more products from Lancôme coming up very soon, including a giveaway! Stay tuned. And in the meantime, visit the Lancôme website and get going on your holiday shopping or pick up your favorites during the Friends and Family 25% off Sale!

  1. That rose highlighter packaging is GORGEOUS! It would be one of the things I’d be too sad to use since it is so pretty. Also, Sunset is my kind of Fall shade – that orange red is stunning on you! I bet you were the most glamorous leaf raker on the block! 🙂

    1. I agree! though I am not surprised that they are both sold out. Luckily, 196 Flame is 196 Orange-Sanguine, part of Lancome’s permanent collection though not with the fancy silver case 😉

  2. I almost bought the highlighter but I have a BECCA one that is very, very close to that shade. OMG the lipstick is gorgeous in the tube and on your lips! Seriously, it’s made for YOU!

  3. You look great! I really like how the highlighter is glowy instead of shimmery. I can’t do highlight either because I don’t want to shimmer at work.
