Tatcha The Liquid Silk Canvas

I Bought This, Affiliate Links

Because the Black Friday sales are here, I wanted to talk to you about Tatcha The Liquid Silk Canvas Featherweight Protective Primer. I purchased this primer during the spring but because I haven’t been wearing foundation all that often, I never got around to reviewing it.

Here’s Tatcha’s description of The Liquid Silk Canvas:

A weightless oil-free liquid silk primer that protects skin from pollutants and makeup, minimizing clogged pores while helping your look go on better and last longer.

Because it’s oil-free, The Liquid Silk Canvas works for all skin types. Plus it’s non-comedogenic.

The Liquid Silk Canvas is a multitasking primer:

  • prepares the skin
  • blurs imperfections, pores and fine lines
  • forms a protective barrier between skin and makeup
  • protects from environmental stressors and pollutants
  • contains pink and gold pearl to help even skin tone and give skin a healthy glow
  • contains Japanese superfoods, green tea, rice and algae, visibly restore radiance.

Meanwhile, The Liquid Silk Canvas is truly as light as a feather, but it creates a “silk canvas” on my skin. The silk extract ingredient is made up of two proteins, sericin and fibroin, that working together mimic the amino acid structure of human skin. They provide a protective “veil” of hydration almost like a second skin without feeling heavy or sticky. I honestly love this stuff because it feels great on my skin, and it does create a perfect canvas for my foundation. I think it does help minimize imperfections, too.

The Liquid Silk Canvas comes in a pump bottler. It is a pale peach gel-cream with a faint herbal scent that disappears on contact.

It’s formulated without parabens, synthetic fragrances, mineral oil, sulfate detergents, phthalates, urea, DEA or TEA. It does contain dimethicone, so if you are sensitive to that ingredient, you should pass on this one.

I bought the full size primer that contains 30 g/1 oz. and it priced at $52. Since I purchased it, Tatcha has introduced The Liquid Canvas in a travel size containing 10 g/0.35 oz. for $22.  Tatcha is just now announcing their Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales with slightly different offers for Friday and Monday. So if you are in the market for a new lightweight fabulous primer, do consider Tatcha The Liquid Canvas.

  1. I have a sample of this that I got from one of those “Purchase $35 worth of items and use this code” things that Sephora does, however, I have not used it yet. I am curious, have you used the non-liquid Silk Canvas? I have seen most people seem to prefer the liquid over the non-liquid but I trusty you more ;-).

    1. I think you might like it, Cassie. I have not tried the non-liquid Tatcha Silk Primer because I have a similar one from Tarte that I bought last year. It is supposed to be a blur cream. Although it works fairly well, the balm form is much harder to apply than the liquid. So I will pass on the solid version of this fab primer
