Dermal Reset Exfoliating Concentrate!
I got a “sneak peek” at new Dermal Reset Exfoliating Concentrate, and I’ve been trying it out for the past month. Dermal Reset helps resurface the skin for a younger, smoother look and feel. It’s great for addressing:
- rough patches
- fine lines and wrinkles
- dullness
- discoloration.
The formula for Dermal Reset contains 7 key anti-aging ingredients, some of which are already my faves and others are new to me:
- Evodia Rutaecarpa Fruit Extract: This is one of the new-to-me ingredients. The concentrated extract is derived from the fruit of a Southeast Asian tree, and has been used in as an ingredient in Chinese medicine for more than 2000 years. It is anti-inflammatory and skin-soothing, while it combats dullness, discoloration and lines and wrinkles. It also leaves skin with a radiant, rosy glow.
- White Lupin Extract and Sunflower Blend: I have grown lupins in my garden, but I didn’t know their extract could be used in skincare. Blended with sunflower extract, this duo helps restore elasticity and firmness, two of my key concerns.
- Lactic Acid Complex (AHCare L65): Lactic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid. While one of or the gentlest of the AHAs, it smooths skin by clearing away dead cells on the skin’s surface.
- Kakadu Plum Extract: I have been using vitamin C skincare products with Kakadu Plum extract for a couple of years at least. Kakadu Plum has much, much more vitamin C than citrus fruits like lemons, limes and oranges. It’s an antioxidant that defends against environmental damage while helping to support healthy collagen levels that are known to slump as we age.
- Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid: This well-known ingredient that holds up to 1000 times its weight in water plumps skin from the inside out making fine lines and wrinkles less apparent.
- Niacinamide: This ingredient protects against environmental stressors while promoting elasticity and firmness. One of the ingredients that I look for in the skincare products that I favor.
- Squalane: A natural ingredient that mimics skin’s own oils to hydrate skin and help strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier. It helps skin look and feel softer, smoother and younger.
City Beauty Dermal Reset Exfoliating Concentrate is an off-white, lightweight gel-cream that comes in a 1 fl. oz./30 ml pump bottle in the familiar black and gold colors that City Beauty uses in its packaging.
It can be used twice a day, morning and before bed. If applied during the day, it should be followed up with a broad spectrum sunscreen, something I am sure you’re doing already. I find that one pump of the Concentrate covers my entire face, and sometimes I apply an additional pump to my neck.
Instantly, my face feels incredibly smooth, soft and plumped. I love touching my face (I know I shouldn’t!) because it feels so darn good. It also imparts an instant radiance without that greasy look that some radiance-enhancing products can give. I have also found that it helps make my fine lines less visible, yay, and I think it looks more supple. I have also found that it is an effective daily exfoliator because when I use the exfoliating masks that I would typically use once or twice a week, there is much less that comes off my face.
As a reminder, City Beauty skincare products are:
- cruelty-free/not tested on animals
- no animal derived ingredients including dairy
- no caffeine, wheat, peanuts, or tree nuts
- no sulfates, phthalates, silicones, denatured alcohol, formaldehyde, triclosan, mineral oil, DEA, or TEA
- no synthetic dyes.
I don’t know if Dermal Reset Exfoliating Concentrate has any added fragrance. To me, it has a medicinal scent that is either the natural scent of the ingredients or a masking fragrance to cover the scent of the ingredients. At any rate, I only smell it when I pump it out of the bottle. The scent does not linger.

Oh Allison this product sounds fabulous. I wish this wasn’t ipsy flash sale day,I’m gonna have to make sure none of my favorites are on deep discount there. I have to say last month I wasn’t very impressed with their options so this very well may be the product that gets me. Thanks for the head’s up on Ipsy Flash sale day, Laura! I definitely was not impressed with my Ipsy choices for January, and November-December weren’t all that exciting for me either, boo hoo. But I do love to check their sale skincare because there are amazing deals sometimes. There are products from City Beauty that I buy over and over again (when they are on sale!), City Lips, Multi-Action Lifting Cream, UpLift Serum, and I also love Microbiome Night Mask but I haven’t used it up yet because I don’t use it every night. I think Dermal Reset will join the list, but I use one pump full every night (I use an essence during the day instead), so it will hopefully last me a long time till I have to make that decision!
Laura, thank you for reminding me of Ipsy Flash Sale day. They used to let me know but I haven’t gotten a reminder recently. My last bag, and maybe the last 3 bags, were lackluster compared to the plus bags over the past couple of years. I really looked forward to getting high end skincare products like Sunday Riley, 111Skin etc. I want to see what the Valentine’s month bag is like, and if it’s another dud, I will either cancel for a while or go to the every other month subscription. On the other topic, City Beauty has a lot of products that I love and buy for myself when they are on sale. I’ve been using Dermal Reset Exfoliating Concentrate for almost a month. I use it once a day, at bedtime, because I have so many other skincare products I need to use. I looooove the velvety feeling that it gives my skin. Even at $59, it is not inexpensive, but one pump covers my face so I hope it will last me a while. Like a number of other City Beauty products, it is a multitasker so it can take the place of anti-aging serum, radiance serum, and an exfoliating mask. Since I have 3 different exfoliating masks (the gels that when you massage your face ball up with dead skin cells) as well as a slew of anti-aging serums and radiance/vitamin C serums, I may not repurchase Dermal Reset right away. But as I use up the masks when it goes on sale in the future, I definitely would consider repurchasing. Glad you’re doing well xo
