Riki Loves Riki Riki Cutie, Small Illuminated Mirror

I Bought This, Affiliate Links

Although I don’t have any complaints about the inexpensive Conair illuminated magnifying mirror that I bought earlier this year at CVS except that maybe it magnifies too much, I was on the lookout for a mirror from the brand Riki Loves Riki.

I had heard good things about the Riki Cutie mirror collaboration with Ipsy that was one of the products included for some subscribers in Ipsy’s quarterly mega box. When I noticed it was on sale in the $35 range, I think it was, I bought it. I didn’t spend much time thinking about it, and that was the problem.

While it is an excellent quality mirror, the key thing that I missed is that it isn’t a magnifying mirror.

Especially since I had cataract surgery and now have trouble seeing close, it is rare that I don’t use a magnifying mirror to apply makeup. Oh well.

But it’s a cute mirror with a pink pattern on the back.

Features

The features of the Riki Cutie are great. The adjustable illumination via a button on the back comes in bright, brighter, and brightest. The photo below is “bright”, the lowest.

In fact, the “brightest “setting is so bright that it hurts my eyes. However, it will be great for the frequent power outages that we have in my neighborhood! And it is rechargeable via USB.

It’s pocket size (about the size of a regular cell phone), and weighs almost nothing. The mirror is supposed to be shatterproof. And I like the retractable finger holder on the side, though it’s sometimes tricky to pop out with my thumb.

It also has a retractable “leg” so you can prop up the mirror for hands-free use.

It also comes with a pouch that can double as a mirror cleaning cloth.

Lastly, the storage box is fabulous and protective.

Thoughts and Pricing

Now, I am wondering if it’s worth it to buy the either the round Super Fine 7x or the 5x magnification mirror called the Super Fine 5x for makeup application. Not sure if 5x is enough. The sale price is $43.50 for the Super Fine 7x in white and for $4 more, you can get colors on the back. It’s $36.50 for the 5x in white, matte black for a few dollars more, and there’s a yellow trimmed version of the 5x called Bright Faces for $2 more that donates to a children’s charity.

Riki Loves Riki currently is offering 27% off for its pre-Black Friday sale, but it doesn’t include sale merchandise even though it says 27% off sitewide. I guess the discount is built in to the sale merch.

I think the small Riki Loves Riki mirrors make great stocking stuffers or small gifts. Do you own a Riki Loves Riki mirror?

  1. I have this one because I got it in my Glam Bag X. I do rather like it, but I can see your point about the absence of magnification.
