Chella Good Drama Mascara

Usually a couple of times a year, I sing the praises of a new mascara that I’ve fallen in love with. And today’s post is no different.

Chella Good Drama Mascara

When I showed you what I got in my last Ipsy Plus Bag a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned that I had a hard time trying to choose the last item in my bag. I went with Chella Good Drama Mascara, not because I needed mascara, but because, well, you never know when you’ll find a good one. And that’s the story with Chella Good Drama Mascara.

I was introduced to Chella years ago via Ipsy. It’s a brand that I associate with eye makeup, especially brow products and eye brightener. To be honest, I didn’t know they made mascara. But worth a try, right?

The Wand

The first thing I look at when I try a new mascara is the wand. And lucky me, Good Drama Mascara’s wand has the plastic teeth that I prefer. They work best for me to separate my lashes.

Wand heads that flex must be having a moment. I noticed that Totally Tubular The Ultimate’s wand head moves back and forth at the junction of the head and the stick. And Good Drama’s wand does the same thing. I find that the slight flexibility of the head helps me get the wand a little closer to the root of my lashes and makes the mascara easier to apply.

The Formula

Good Drama Mascara’s formula is both lengthening and volumizing. I love that it visibly lengthens and has a buildable formula that can be reapplied to get the length and thickness I want. It reminds me of one of my other favorite mascaras, Milk Makeup Mascara.

The formula doesn’t smudge or flake off no matter how long I wear it. It doesn’t clump. However, I have a few wonky lashes at the outer lashline of my left eye that are always a challenge,  no matter which mascara I use. They require me to use the plastic teeth on the wand to separate them.

Good Drama Mascara keeps my lashes feeling rather soft instead of crispy like some other mascaras.

The formula is described as water resistant. At first, I was afraid that the mascara might be difficult to remove like some waterproof mascaras can be. Good Drama is very easy to remove with micellar water, makeup remover or cleansing oil. I haven’t actually figured out what water resistant means because I haven’t worn it swimming. Perhaps I will wear it to my hair appointment at Vidal Sassoon this week, and see what happens to it when my hair is washed a million times!

Other Important Info

Chella Good Drama Mascara is cruelty-free, vegan, gluten-free, and paraben-free. It is supposedly recyclable, but I think you would have to take it to a special place to recycle it.

The color is black, and I believe that it’s the only shade this mascara comes in.

Chella says that it doesn’t have any harsh ingredients. And in flag what they call the “care ingredients”:

Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C) , Cannabis Sativa Seed Extract (Hemp), Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil (Argan), Mangifera Indica Seed Oil (Mango), Bambusa Vulgaris Leaf/Stem Extract (Bamboo)

No wonder my lashes feel soft rather than hard and crispy!

Size, Price and Where to Buy Chella Good Drama Mascara

Today, when I went to the Chella website to find the ingredient list and the price, I noticed that Good Drama Mascara comes in a 5 ml mini/travel size as well as the 10 ml full size tube. The mini is $13, and the full size is $25. Regardless of the price, I prefer to buy the mini size because I almost never finish up a full size mascara in the three months before you’re supposed to discard the mascara. So, yay!

Chella Good Drama Mascara is sold on the Chella website, on Amazon where it’s currently on sale for $21.22, and I noticed that you can buy it at Macy’s where the full size is on sale right now for $21.25 with the code OWNIT. You can also get 20% off your purchases on the Chella website by signing up for emails.

Thank you, Ipsy, for another great discovery!

  1. Looks like a good mascara. I’m always impressed that you use the products in your Ipsy bag and don’t put them aside for later (which becomes much later). This was a good choice.

  2. Please don’t recommend ordering from city beauty! I used your link and regret it. Over a month, and I never received my lip glosses! I called and had a rude consultant. I guess they are out of everything? They took money for 4 glosses and zero notice it was not coming. I trusted your site! Julie Fischer
