Orly Nail Lacquer in Tiara: Holiday and Winter Sparkle!

Yesterday, one of my friends asked me which nail polish I was wearing in the video I made of my December Celebration ipsy bag. It’s Orly Nail Lacquer, and the shade is Tiara.

While Tiara looks really silver in the bottle, it reads sparkly white on the nails. In fact, it’s a colorless formula with rounded silver glitter. My Aunt Flo has worn white pearlescent nail polish since the 1960s, so this reminds me of her look, just updated a bit! When light shines on the Orly Tiara, it’s intensely sparkly white, like glittering snow in the sun. When light isn’t shining on it directly, it’s actually rather subtle.

I am so taken with this shade, I’ve been wearing it for two weeks on my nails. One coat gives you a sheer look with sparkle. With two coats, you get the full effect.

I haven’t tried it yet, but I think it would be a lovely topcoat of sparkle on color nail polish, especially grey. I may try it tonight on top of my new NOKAK K New York brown/taupe nail polish from my December ipsy bag.

The formula dries quickly. Last week, I got a full week with little/no chipping, but this week, it chipped after day 5. I still consider that long-lasting. I applied it over Revlon Brilliance Basecoat and followed up with essence gel look topcoat and Orly Sec Vite.

Orly is 3 free: free of toluene, DBP and formaldehyde. And it has a rubbery “gripper” top that makes it easy to open. To me, it’s a big bottle: 0.6 fl. oz., 18 mL. I bought it at Ulta, using one of their coupons, and I think it cost about $8 or so there. It’s also available at Amazon for $6.61 so if you’re buying other things or have Amazon Prime, that’s the way to go. I’ve seen Orly polishes at CVS, but not this shade.

So for the holidays and especially New Year’s Eve, Orly Tiara will be my go to polish. What’s your holiday favorite?

Hope you have a Merry Christmas!

    1. It sounds so pretty, Monica. Post some pix, if you do. I haven’t bought any more Sally Hansen glitter polishes since the pink one I bought in the summer that’s so hard to get off 😉
