Tarte Drink of H2O

In addition to getting the Pacifica Wake Me Beautiful Retinoid Eye Cream that I wrote about yesterday, I also received Tarte Drink of H2O Hydrating Boost as one of my regular Ipsy products. Lately I have been trying to use some skincare products by putting them on the right side of my face, my forehead, and parts of my left side where the swelling and soreness is receding. So I have gotten to use Tarte Drink of H2O.

plain jar style from Ipsy

I’m not sure if the version of Tarte Drink of H2O is new or older because the look of the jar I got is different (plainer) from others I’ve seen on the internet, though I checked the ingredients and they are the same. The product is part of their Rainforest of the Sea collection.

To me, Tarte Drink of H2O is very similar, if not a dupe, for Clinique’s Moisture Surge that’s been around for decades. But I checked the ingredients on both products, and they are not the same though they have similar benefits.

Tarte Drink of H2O is a milky lightweight gel-cream whose purpose is to deeply moisturize and seal in other skincare products applied in earlier skincare steps. It’s the last product that you apply. The moisturizer sinks in immediately and is non-greasy. It works well under foundation.

Tarte Drink of H2O is designed for all skin types. It’s particularly good for:

  • Hydration thats great for dehydrated skin
  • Loss of firmness
  • Dryness

There is a very light, sweet scent to Tarte Drink of H2O that fades on contact.

What’s In It

The product contains two of Tarte’s unique ingredient blends:

  • Rainforest of the Sea Complex
  • Electrolyte Balancing Complex.

They work together to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and to restore the skin’s moisture barrier.

Tarte Drink of H2O is formulated with humectants and emollients to deeply moisturize skin but without the heaviness that some moisturizers provide. It doesn’t clog pores. Although my skin is dry, I have always been a fan of lightweight gel-creams like this one. It contains a mix of water, butylene glycol, dimethicone, glycerin, hydroxyethyl acrylate, and squalane. Water, butylene glycol and glycerin are familiar humectants that draw in water and plump the skin. Dimethicone and vegan squalane are well-known skin conditioners.

In addition, Tarte Drink contains active ingredients and extracts including hyaluronic acid, coconut oil, algae extract, and lavender essential oil. Since those ingredients don’t agree with everyone, it is worth testing out the product first.

Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, butylene glycol, dimethicone, glycerin, hydroxyethyl acrylate/sodium acryloyldimethyl taurate copolymer, squalene, phenoxyethanol, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP copolymer, caprylyl glycol, polysorbate 60, enteromorpha compressa (linnaeus) extract, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) peel oil, limonene, disodium EDTA, hexylene glycol, sorbitan isostearate, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil, linalool, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, hyaluronic acid, silanetriol, citric acid, sorbic acid, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, butyrospermum parkii (shea) seedcake extract, sargassum pacificum thallus extract, gardenia taitensis flower extract, tocopherol, blue 1 (CI 42090).

Additional Info

Like all Tarte products, Tarte Drink of H2O is cruelty-free, vegan, and a clean beauty product that leaves out potentially harmful ingredients (though you must always check the ingredient list to see if there’s an ingredient that your skin is sensitive toward).

Tarte Drink of H2O comes in a recyclable jar containing 1.7 fl. oz./50 ml. It’s priced at $39, but right now, it is available at Sephora on sale for $19 in the other style jar that I mentioned earlier. It also comes in a 0.5 fl. oz. travel size jar, also on sale at Sephora for $7. Tarte Drink of H2O is widely available including on the Tarte website, and at Kohls. Hmm, I’m wondering if it is going to be discontinued?

I’m glad I got this in my Ipsy bag! I like it!

  1. Allison, it’s so good to see you on the mend! I have been thinking about you. Your comments on this moisturizer are very interesting, I like the idea of using a gel based moisturizer to seal in all the other good things I put on my face! Take good care of yourself!

    1. Thank you so much, Denise! I am making slow progress, but it’s progress nonetheless! The Tarte Drink of H2O was a nice surprise for me since I was such a big fan of Clinique Moisture Surge when I was younger. I agree with you about a gel sealing everything in. Also, when my skin feels dry, it’s lovely to slather this on. Hope all is well with you and you’re having a lovely early spring!

    1. Thank you, Angie! I am not doing every day as yet, but getting a few days in is a good thing. I hope you’re doing well on your recovery, too!
