GIVEAWAY: Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair Deep Conditioning Mask

Don't Despair. Repair! deep conditioning hair mask

After years of haircare monogamy, I’ve been having all kinds of new relationships with haircare products, and my hair is thanking me for it!

Be Gentle. Be Kind.

When Sebastian discontinued the shampoo I used for years, I tried a new shampoo based on a glowing review from another blogger I follow. Briogeo. Be Gentle. Be Kind. (my review here) I’ve been using Be Gentle. Be Kind. Shampoo for about 10 months now, and I’ve just started my second bottle. I can truthfully report that I adore this shampoo, and I no longer need Sebastian to finish reformulating my former shampoo. Briogeo is sulfate-free, but it cleans my hair so well, I’d never know it was safe for color-treated hair. Seriously. It’s priced at $19.00.

Don’t Despair. Repair!

Since I like Briogeo Be Gentle. Be Kind. shampoo so much, I was happy to have an opportunity to try the hair mask, Don’t Despair. Repair! I just love the names of the Briogeo products. They are so witty!

The holidays are just a few weeks away, and I’m eager to make sure my hair is in good shape. I’m adding more products to my usually spartan routine of shampoo and conditioner. But I’m impatient sometimes, and one of the things that I love about Briogeo. Don’t Despair. Repair! is that you can apply it to your hair in the shower for about 3-5 minutes and get a much deeper conditioning than using a regular conditioner. When your hair is more stressed out, you can apply it, put on a shower cap or wrap your hair in plastic wrap and, if you can, sit under a drier or use a hand held hair dryer for about 10 minutes for even deeper conditioning.

Don’t Despair. Repair! comes in a clear plastic tub with cheery, modern designs. Just stick a couple of fingers in and scoop out as much as you think you need.

Don't Despair. Repair! hair mask

I have thick, coarse hair, but I only need a small blob to coat my color-treated hair. I also like the fact that the mask isn’t as thick and difficult to apply as some deep-conditioners can be. I do the 10 minute treatment when my hair needs more attention, like at the end of the summer. I’ll also do the 10 minute under-the-heat treatment right before the holidays. Once a week, I use Don’t Despair. Repair! for 3 minutes instead of my regular conditioner to get the extra benefits of the mask.

The mask works by increasing the hair’s elasticity as well as its moisture level.

I love the results I get. The packaging says that it “intensely repairs and nourishes weak hair”, and I can attest to that! My hair feels super silky, and it’s more manageable. I have no split ends. My thick hair feels lighter, and it looks smoother. And Briogeo. Don’t Despair. Repair. doesn’t weigh my hair down like other deep conditioners have in the past.

Processed with Rookie

Don’t Despair. Repair! is safe for all hair types, and it’s particularly helpful to those with dry, damaged or chemically-treated hair due to processing, weather or heat-based styling tools. I think that means just about all of us!

The mask comes in a 5.25 fl. oz/155 ml plastic tub so it’s perfect to leave in the shower or tub. It contains 95% natural ingredients (which is amazing in a haircare product!) like rosehips, avocado, sweet almond oil, and argan oil. It does NOT contain parabens, silicones, mineral oil, artificial fragrances, or phthalates. It’s both cruelty-free and gluten-free. It’s made in the U.S., and the price is $26.00.

I love this product, and I love the brand. I strongly recommend both the Be Gentle. Be Kind. shampoo and the deep-conditioning mask, Don’t Despair. 1. You should give it a try! You can apply it instead of your regular conditioner, and just leave it on for 3-5 minutes while you’re showering. Easy peasy!

  1. I have been dying to try products from this line! This mask sounds especially divine — I’m always looking for ways to make my hair feel more nourished and healthy.

    1. Good luck in the giveaway, Lisa! It’s a great mask that’s so easy to use and really nourishes my hair. And with your color-treated hair, you must try the Be Gentle. Be Kind shampoo — it is my holy grail shampoo!

    1. Thanks, Brooke! Yes, I think it was in an ipsy bag recently, but I received the other brand that I didn’t like nearly as much as I like Briogeo, lol!

    1. That’s funny, Lola. I’m pretty lucky that products don’t seem to lose their effectiveness with me. But it is fun to try other things and see what else is out there that might be even better!

    1. I wish I could’ve swapped with you, Erika, ‘coz I got the other hair mask in my ipsy bag and it was a no-go for me, lol. At least ipsy is good for letting us know what we don’t need to buy!

  2. I have thin, color treated hair and it could really use some help. That hair masque sounds great, and your hair looks really nice.

    1. Thank you, Galliesallie! This mask is great, and coz you can use it in the shower instead of regular conditioner, it’s so easy to use. Thanks for entering and good luck in the giveaway 🙂

  3. I love deep conditioning my hair and I am still on the search for that one, good conditioner. This deep conditioner sounds perfect. I like the ingredient statement and would love to see how my hair responds to this product.

    1. Glad you entered, LaTanya! The ingredient list of what’s included and what isn’t is great. I just used it again a few minutes ago when I shampooed my hair. So manageable. Good luck in the giveaway 🙂

    2. Glad you entered, LaTanya! I’ve been very pleased with this Briogeo deep conditioning mask. I have a hair oil from another brand that I like, too, but it has to be applied a half hour before shampooing so it’s not always convenient. What I love about the Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! is that I can use it in the shower for 3+ minutes and it gives me a deeper conditioning than my regular conditioner. And when I have time, I apply it after shower, wrap my hair in plastic wrap and heat it up with my dryer. It’s great! Good luck in the giveaway 🙂

  4. This hair mask sounds lovely. I have always colored my hair at home but recently began highlighting it too. While I like the look it is sucking all the moisture from my hair. Sounds like this stuff would greatly benefit my hair.

    1. Oh, highlights on top of color! I would love that, Laura. I asked my colorist to add golden highlights to my hair, and she refused, lol. Now I can’t afford it anyway, but I love the look. So happy you entered the giveaway, and good luck!

    1. It’s a relatively new brand, Kim, that is now at Sephora. The mask was one of the selections in the September ipsy bag, too. I adore the shampoo, and I was so happy to get to try out the mask. Hope you entered!

  5. Oooh! I’ve always wanted to try hair masks but have been at a crosroads on which one to try. This looks like it produces excellent results so I will have to give it a try! Thank you so much for the giveaway!

    1. You’re welcome, Kimberly. Briogeo is a relatively new brand, but it is now available at Sephora and it was one of the product selections in the September ipsy bag. A wonderful up-and-coming natural haircare brand!

    1. You should check it out, Bailey. It just started selling at Sepora, and it was one of the products in the September ipsy bag. A real up and coming brand. I love the mask and I adore the shampoo 🙂

    1. I’m sorry to hear about your illness, but I’m glad you are entering the giveaway. Are you able to take biotin or would it interfere with your medications? If you can, it does wonders for hair and nails. Best to you

  6. Heed the advice of the professional. 🙂 It took me many years to trust myself on this. Most of my closest friends were always in the cosmetic/hair industry. I learned a lot from watching them.

    1. I know you’re right, Laura! I could never do it myself. I don’t have a clue. I wanted some golden highlights in my red/copper hair, but my colorist, named Laurel, refused. She told me it would look “cheap”, but I just thought it would give my hair some interesting dimension. It’s a moot point now. I can hardly afford the single process at Vidal Sassoon salon 😉 What color(s) is your hair??

  7. Mine is an auburn brown. I just did some halo highlights because I did not trust myself highlighting what I could not see. I used Blonde Brilliance from Sally’s. I sat under the dryer and kept checking it until it was the color blonde that I wanted for highlights. The lady who cuts my hair said i did a good job. She said before I told her that I had done it she thought I was cheating on her. ha ha
My best friend who was a salon owner died 7 years ago so I have been coloring it for awhile now. I think she watches over me while I do it because *fingers crossed* I have not messed my hair up yet. I miss her for so many other reasons though. She was a gem.

    1. Your hair sounds gorgeous, Laura! I’m sorry to hear that you’re coloring it yourself because you lost your best friend. But I love that she watches over and guides you as you color. Lovely

  8. Well Allison I have seen your hair and it is gorgeous!!!! Getting regular trims and keeping it “moist” is key when you chemically play with it. I just do not always feel up to doing the deep heat conditioning treatments. I hate admitting that I am that lazy anymore. 😉 But all this “talk” of hair has me thinking I am overdue for pampering my hair. I am off to redeem myself. lol Have a good night’s rest. 🙂

    1. It was in the September ipsy bag, but I didn’t get it, lol. I got the other hair mask brand, and I didn’t like it as much as Briogeo’s mask. 🙂

    1. Let me know what you think, if you do try it, Mercedes. I know a few of the bloggers including Honey use it and like it a lot. Another idea is the Darshana Indian Oil, but you have to apply that a half hour before shampooing.

    1. It’s a good one, Melissa. New brand started by a young woman entrepreneur, just got in to Sephora, but I’m not sure whether it’s sold internationally yet.

    1. Too funny, Kim! I was concerned also about another woman who tweeted about the giveaway but I don’t have comment from her either…but then she never responded to my message to her. Have a great day, Kim 🙂

    1. I hear ya, Brooke. Nothing like a deep conditioning hair mask to repair it before the holidays! Thank you for entering the giveaway and good luck 🙂

    1. Wow, you must definitely be doing something right, Cynthia, to only just be beginning to see wrinkles! But Cynthia, I want to point out that this is a HAIR mask to help repair dry, damaged, color-treated, or just stressed out hair!! Go back and take a look at the blogpost 😉 Do you still want to enter? Hope so!

  9. I got a tiny sample of the dont despair repair hair mask in my Ipsy bag last month !! A tiny sample it was , I absolutely would love a big tub so I can reap the entire benefits of it !! I would love to enjoy it !

    1. Thanks so much for getting the comment in, Brandi! I didn’t get the Briogeo sample in my ipsy bag. Instead, I got the other brand, and I didn’t like it because it made my hair get dirty a lot faster. Good luck and thanks for entering 🙂

    1. Hopefully, it would, Julie 🙂 I have shoulder-length hair, and no split ends. I find this stuff really easy to use, and it has made a difference for me. Thanks for entering the giveaway, and good luck 🙂

  10. I want to win Briogeo Don’t Despair. Repair! deep conditioning mask because it “intensely repairs and nourishes weak hair” and my hair could use more hydration.

    1. Samantha, you’re right: the cold weather really can do a number on your hair. Briogeo DDR is great at adding back moisture to dry hair. Thanks for entering the giveaway and good luck!

  11. I want to try this product because I’m always looking for something to help my hair to be more healthy. Also, I have some natural curl that turns into frizz in the winter weather.

  12. Id love to try it because my skin gets ultra dry spots in the winter, even though overall Im generally oily everywhere else

  13. Wow I totally am overtired. I browsed the product and ingredients and thought it was for skin… Yes, I could still use a deep mask for my scalp/hair, mostly scalp

  14. Would love to try this, my hair is suffering from color treatment and heat styling and could use some TLC.

  15. Why I would like to win the don’t despair repair because I have chemically straighten hair and anytime you put it chemical on your hair here comes the damage and I’m trying to grow out my hair and I have yet to find a product that can moisturize and repair my hair

  16. Hey, my name is Monique and I really hope I win the Briogeo product !!! I have tried a sample of it and it’s amazing!!! So I’m crossing my fingers for this opportunity !! Thank you☺️

    1. Trish, I’d love to have you enter the giveaway, but I just want to make sure you’re interested. The Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! is a deep conditioning mask for dry, damaged, color-treated or stressed out HAIR. Still interested?

  17. I have dry hair and like to try new products — right now I need something to hydrate and this sounds perfect.

    1. Thanks for entering, Laura. For thin hair that breaks, you may want to try taking Biotin (vitamin K capsules) that is great for hair and also nails, and inexpensive. But I know you’d like the Briogeo DDR. Good luck in the giveaway 🙂

  18. I dye my hair. I also blow dry it and flat iron it everyday. It needs some extra care and this mask would do that!

  19. I think my hair has a diva complex. “Regular” conditioner is scoffed at and tangles ensue. This sounds like something that might make it behave for a bit. 😛

  20. My hair could really use a little TLC. Between the frizz from being a curly head to the stress from hair color, it isn’t in the best condition and could benefit from a hair mask.
