Beauty Products I’m Thankful For

favorite beauty products, beauty products I'm thankful for

It’s almost Thanksgiving, and I’ve joined together with some of the members of The Beauty Council to put together a list of the beauty products that we’re thankful for. So after you take a look at my list, check out the other gals’ posts listed below!

Now, it may sound a little frivolous to be thankful for beauty products, when we should be thankful for good health, our families and friends, having a roof over our heads etc. But this is a beauty blog, so I am thankful for a number of beauty products that make me feel better, more confident, or just make my life in makeup a little easier.  😆

This could have been a huge list, but I tried to whittle it down. Some of the products on the list I have reviewed, and others I have either meant to review or I recently got them and plan to review. I bought six of the seven products myself. Here are the 7 products I’m most thankful for right now.

beauty products I'm thankful for

  1. Beauty Blender: I picked this up at Sephora a few weeks ago, after thinking about it for a long time. I heard all the hype about the Beauty Blender, but I thought I didn’t need it. Hey, I’m a relatively recent convert to using a foundation brush instead of my fingers to apply my foundation. Why did I need something else, I thought? Well, I’m glad I succumbed. Using this little pink cutie to apply my CC cream or foundation is even easier than using a foundation brush. No streaks. Goes on smoothly. Covers well. Looks almost airbrushed. Uses surprisingly less foundation than a brush. Price about $20
  2. NYC New York Color Grand Central Station Quick Dry Top Coat: I’ve used spray which dries fast but takes the gloss down a bit. I’ve used expensive quick drying topcoats. But nothing beats NYC Grand Central Station. It dries super-fast, seems to last just as long as the expensive brands, and it costs between 99 cents and $1.99. End of discussion.
  3. L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara: This is the mascara I’ve been searching for my whole life (review here). It lengthens and volumizes. It adds fibers that stay put and don’t end up in my eyes or give me spider lashes. It has a perfect wand that’s winged all around that makes application easy. The mascara stays put, but is not hard to remove. Plus it costs less than $10.
  4. Viseart Neutral Matte Eye Shadow Palette: In spite of the fact that it’s tough to find this perfect, professional-level palette in stock even at $80, it is my favorite and it makes eye shadow application easier for me. Plus I get compliments on my makeup almost every time I wear it – and believe me, I am not highly skilled. It is very blendable, velvety, and it stays on without budging for hours and hours. If you’re a neutral and a matte shadow lover, this palette is the one you should own! And for those of you who like color and/or shimmer, Viseart has colorful, even bright palettes as well as palettes with satins and shimmers.
  5. Shiseido Lash Curler: I liked the Tarte Lash Curler that I bought back in February. It did a good job curling my straight lashes. But I used the two or three pads that it came with, and lately it stopped curling as well as it had when I first bought it. Trying to buy replacement pads is a fool’s errand. I had been hearing all the talk about the Shiseido curler (not the weird one), and I decided to give it a go during the Sephora VIB sale. Although it’s generally the same size as the Tarte curler, it is not as curved, and as a result, it seems much wider and easier to get my lashes between the top and the pad. It does a shockingly good job curling my lashes! Usually if I curl both eyes one after another and then apply mascara, the second eye’s lashes uncurl by the time I get to them with the mascara. Not so with Shiseido. Price $19, well worth it.
  6. InstaNatural Moroccan Rosewater: This product was an absolute surprise (review here). I was offered the opportunity to select another product to try out from a brand whose anti-aging serum I was using for a review. I chose the rosewater on a whim, for something different to try. I was blown away by this rosewater. The scent is heaven! It makes my skin feel like velvet. It prepares my skin for the serum I put on next. InstaNatural Moroccan Rosewater is such a treat, not only for your skin but for your psyche. Buy some. Give it as a gift. It’s the bomb. Price around $13.75.
  7. Briogeo Be Gentle. Be Kind. Sulfate-Free Shampoo: I read about this color-safe shampoo on another blogger’s blog, and I immediately purchased it. My long-time HG shampoo was discontinued, and I was looking for a new brand to try. Often color-safe shampoos disappoint me because my hair doesn’t feel clean. Briogeo Be Gentle. Be Kind. Shampoo is fabulous (review here). It leaves my hair feeling almost squeaky clean without being stripped. It has a light scent, makes plenty of lather, and is easy to rinse out. My new HG shampoo! Price $19.

So this is my list. What are the beauty products you’re thankful for? And to all my friends who celebrate, Happy Thanksgiving!!

    1. Thank you, Erika! There were about a million more that could have been on my list. I’m new to the beauty blender, and I wonder now why I waited so long.

  1. Great picks! I recently started using a Real techniques sponge, which is supposed to be like a beauty blender. I don’t know if it’s worse than the original but I absolutely love it! And that Viseart palette is definitely on my wishlist!

    1. I haven’t tried the RT sponge yet, but I’m glad to hear that it’s working well for you. Is the price point friendlier than the bb? Hope the Viseart palette is in stock so you can pick it up one of these days 🙂

    1. Yes, Lola, you should be thankful for those gorgeous Tom Ford lipsticks! But I am also thankful for the Bite duo lipsticks and mini-crayons that I picked up during my Sephora haul 🙂

  2. Well this is such a great list! I want to try all of these!! Thank you! I most definitely have to try that nail polish now too!
I also took a long time to get the Beauty Blender. I stippled on my foundation and had no reason to change. I thought that was perfect enough. But, on a total whim, I bought it in a kit, and whoa! Mind blown!! Now I use it for everything (foundation, concealer, highlight, contour). It is the bombdiggity!! 😀

    1. I misplaced my beauty blender over the weekend visiting, and I was so relieved to find it this afternoon. What a difference it makes! The the affordable NYC Grand Central Station quick dry topcoat is the best less than two bucks I ever spent! Thanks for commenting!
