My First Memebox: CutiePieMarzia2

Back in the late fall, I entered a giveaway on fabulous blogger and subscription box addict, Renu’s blog, My Beauty Junction. And to my surprise, I was one of the winners. I won points to use on Memebox, a leading Korean beauty retailer that sells curated skincare and makeup boxes. Korea is known for high quality, cutting-edge skincare products and cutesy packaging. So if either great skincare or adorable packaging is your thing, you’ve come to the right place.  😉

Memebox’s concept is different from monthly subscription boxes. There is no monthly box. Instead, they come out with new boxes all the time. You can sign up for email alerts or just go to their website and check ’em out. There’s no subscription; each box is sold on its own. Each box has a theme. There are an average of 5 products per box, though there are smaller boxes with fewer products and larger boxes with more. Most of the products are full size, though there may be some deluxe samples. The prices vary from box to box. You can buy a box from Memebox whenever you want, as many or as few as you want. The only issue is that if you see a box you like, you have to act fast because the boxes often sell out.

Memeboxes now ship from the U.S. which makes for quick arrival, less than a week for US residents. Memebox also ships to China and Korea (and I think those boxes ship from Korea).

In addition to selling boxes, Memebox sells full size products. So if you find a product you really like in a box, you can repurchase the product individually. Awesome.

I stalked the Memebox website for a few months trying to decide which box to buy. Many were tempting. I was looking for the perfect combination of skincare and makeup products. Finally, I found the box I was waiting for: CutiePieMazia2.

Marzia from the YouTube channel, CutiePieMarzia, curated the box. I had no idea who she was. I am not a big YouTube fan because I don’t have the patience to sit through most videos. I find them way too long. But that’s neither here nor there. I think Marzia did a great job putting together this box. Since this is Marzia2, she must have curated a box previously.

I ordered the box on the Memebox website, and this one came with shipping included. Not all do. The price of the CutiePieMarzia2 box was $26.99. I had $10 in Memebox points to use, so the box cost me $16.99. To my shock, the box arrived in less than a week. Wow. Much better than ipsy’s delivery time.

I could hardly wait to open it. And I was not disappointed. My first Memebox in my favorite retro 1950s color combination: peach, green and red. How cute is this box?

CutiePieMarzia-Memebox

When I opened the box, I took out the product card. It talked about Marzia and who she is, and inside it gave the run-down on each product in the box (all the stuff that I wish ipsy included!):

  • product description
  • how to use the product
  • size
  • price.

CutiePieMarzia

I really did well. I received 6 full size products in this Memebox for $26.99 including shipping!

CutiePieMarzia-Memebox-open

So exciting! And here they are.

Memebox

Although the packaging looks childish or child-like, the products are definitely good or great quality products. Here’s the lowdown on the products I received:

  • Tony Moly Red Appletox Honey Cream, 80 ml, $12
  • Cheek Room Lip Balm Clover, 05 Cherry Clover, 12 g, $12
  • Shara Shara Petit Friend Matte Lip Crayon, 3 g, $11
  • Shara Shara Triple Shine Color, 2 g, Pink Violet 02 $15
  • TheYeon Jeju Hallabong Energy Mild All-in-one Serum, 100 ml, $20
  • Revecen Face Control Foundation, #002 Violet, 17 g, $22

Wow, the items in the box total up to $92!

Here are my initial thoughts on the products.

Shara Shara Triple Shine Color Shadow: very cute, very portable, decent color payoff, haven’t tried it yet to determine longevity

Tony Moly Appletox Honey Cream: Wow, this is a keeper! The apple scent of this gel moisturizer is just incredible! And as you may know, I adore gels. I love this product, and the packaging is just too adorable. It comes with a scoop so you can keep your fingers out of the jar. At $12, buy this moisturizer for yourself for a treat!

Appletox Honey Cream, gel moisturizerCheek Room Lip Balm Clover, 05 Cherry: Another major win! I love the texture of this thick lip balm. It really lasts, and the cherry taste is great. It contains olive oil, shea butter and jojoba oil so it does the job. This is one of my favorite products from the box!

natural lip balm Shara Shara Petit Friend Matte Lip Crayon, RD01 Real Red: Another one of my favorites in the box, and now one of my favorite lip crayons, period. It is matte, but it’s not the least bit drying. And the shade, OMG, so pigmented, so red, so long-lasting!

TheYeon, Jeju Hallabong Energy Mild All-in-one Serum: I am the serum queen so I was happy to get this product in my box. Plus, it’s huge and will last for ages…except that it smells so fantastic, like grapefruit, that I use it every chance I get!

This is a case where the product description really comes in handy since I have no idea what the words in the title mean. Here’s what it says in the product description: TheYeon’s Jeju Hallabong boosts its organic formula made from the Hallabong which is a special type of orange cultivated only in the Jeju Island and best loved for bursting with vitamin C and super sweet & tasty juiciness. Infused with other Jeju-born organic ingredients such as kiwi, broccoli and aloe vera, this Energy Mild Serum works to replenish, soften and protect skin.” I adore this stuff. I could drink it. It’s a quick-absorbing gel. Just terrific! At $20, a real bargain.

REVECEN Face Control Foundation #002 Violet: To be honest, I haven’t tried this color balancing product yet. It’s function is to cover up skin imperfections and balance out yellow skin tone. You apply with a sponge or fingers, pat it in, and then apply your foundation over it. I must play with this. Although I don’t have yellow skin tone, I’ll definitely give it a go.

  1. Cute box. Happy for you that you like everything. I love that apple container. It is adorable. Gels are my favorite too. And I bet that red lip crayon looks great on you. Red lip shades are so you.
Last year I ordered a Meme skin care box. There was a great coupon code so I got the box very cheap but I am too chicken to ever do it again because of my super reactive skin. Every product that I tried caused my face to break out in huge red hives. I know it could have happened with any subscription box but I am too afraid to try again. Maybe Korean skin care is just too potent for my skin. lol
P.S. I loved your post yesterday. We share an affinity for good maple syrup.

    1. Laura, I lucked out and I am enjoying everything in this box. The star products are the Tony Moly skincare gel, the red crayon that – you’re right – I do love, and the vitamin C serum that smells like grapefruit. Yay! I’m sorry the skincare products you received in the past didn’t agree with your skin. That can happen 🙁 And thanks for reading yesterday’s post. We made salmon with maple mustard glaze last night from the syrup! it was delish! I’m glad your a real maple syrup fan too. Are there maple syrup shacks in OH too?

  2. I love MEMEBOX! I have several of them, and I am always impressed by the number of full size products that they give in each box. This looks like a really fun box! I hope that you enjoy all of the products!

  3. This is so cute! I’ve heard of Membox, but I have honestly never really looked into it. I have only heard of one of the products and that would be the Tony Moly product. I am addicted to their lip balm that comes in those cute lip packaging that they have at Sephora. It’s so good! I pretty much quit most of my box subscriptions or buying any special like this, but this seems really interesting! I’ll have to take a look!

    1. I’ll have to look for the TonyMoly lip balm at Sephora. I have never noticed it, but now I’m very interested. I lucked out on this box. I am so happy to use everything in it! And I love that it’s not a regular subscription. 🙂

    1. Jessica, I looked at a million boxes over a few months before I saw this one. And when I found it, I knew it was “the one”! I do love everything in it. However, I hope it won’t be so difficult for me to find another to try. The stuff in this box smells like heaven and the packaging is so darn cute!

  4. Such a fun box!! I’ve been meaning to get a Memebox, but haven’t jumped on it. I don’t know which box I want, because I want to buy them all! lol Mostly the reason why.. I also like that they carry Tony Moly, such a great brand with great products. 🙂

    1. Isn’t it the cutest?! I haven’t been to UO in a while so I was so happy to get the TM gel moisturizer in my box. That apple is adorable and the scent of the moisturizer is like apple heaven. And then the grapefruit scent vit C serum, wow. Love this box!

    1. Hope you do check it out one of these days, Sammi. Korean skincare is the best. And the makeup is adorable. The red lip crayon is so fabulous and saturated and not at all drying, I love it!

    1. I am having so much fun with this box, Brooke. I adore the whole thing. I just put the purple color balancing powder on my face this afternoon and put my Dior BB Cream over it, and my face looked white, so I guess I either used too much or I need to rub it in?? But it sure was fun doing it!

  5. I have a friend in Singapore and she and I would do exchanges all the time. The packaging of Asian cosmetics is always cute so even if it first looks childish, it’s really just fun.
I’m fascinated with Memebox and one day I’ll give into it. I’ll be sure to come back to use your links.

    1. Oh, how lucky you are, Marcia, to have a friend in the Far East to swap with! I adore both the products themselves and the whimsical approach to packaging. And thank you for thinking of me if you decide to give it a go, so nice of you 🙂

    1. I’m on a no-buy hiatus as well! But because I had the points sitting around since November, I allowed this purchase to slip through under my own radar 😉

  6. I’ve never gotten a Memebox, but I know people go crazy for them! I kind of like that you can get them at any time and pick which ones you want to buy. That apple lotion tub is probably the cutest thing ever! Sounds like you got a really great box and I’d be interested to know how that color corrector works out for you.

    1. I like the fact that it’s just a curated, themed box, and you can order as many or as few as you want! The Tony Moly Appletox Honey Cream is so adorable, and it smells like apples. It’s a facial moisturizer, a gel that feels lightweight on my skin. I love it. Yesterday, I tried the color corrector, and I think I didn’t do it right. I applied it all over my face and put my Dior BB Cream in Fair over it, and my face looked white!! I think I should have applied it with a brush, applied less of it and rubbed it in more. I’ve gotta see if I can get more info on it. It’s supposed to balance out yellow undertones, and I am quite pink!

    1. The Tony Moly Appletox Honey Cream apple is soooo adorable. I love seeing it in my bathroom, and I love using it because it smells like apples and the gel cream is great! What I love about Memebox is that it’s not a subscription. I don’t have to order ever again if I don’t want to. They are just curated, themed boxes. Love ’em!!

  7. I have always been curious w/ Memebox. Tried to place order last year but totally forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me. Btw, that Tony Molly is now available at Sephora.

    1. Unfortunately, my Sephora has a limited number of brands and I haven’t seen Tony Moly or Besame in the stores yet, but there’s always online ordering

  8. Ooh, great selection and so cute! I usually get my Asian beauty fix via a few sellers on Ebay, but I do regret not trying MeMebox before they stopped shipping here (Canada).

  9. This box looks awesome and I’m loving the packaging. I’m always impressed with posts I see from Meme and what they offer… I need to dive in and try them out.

    1. The Tony Moly Appletox Honey Cream packaging is absolutely the cutest, and the product inside is just divine. It smells like apples. And it’s a gel cream that feels so good to wear. Just love the whole box 🙂

  10. I am SOOOOOOO freaking jealous. I wanted this box badly but it had sold out. I’m a HUGE kpop fan, I’d love try these products. Especially the tonymolly one.

    1. Oh, Ashley, I’m so sorry you missed this box! In case that adorable Tony Moly Appletox Honey Cream is something you must have, I just looked it up and it’s available on Amazon for $9.99. I also think Urban Outfitters and maybe even Sephora carries Tony Moly. The apple scent of this gel cream is scrumptious. I love using it!!!

    1. The Tony Moly Appletox Honey Cream is just amazing. Not only is the packaging so adorable, but the cream itself is wonderful. It smells like apples and it’s a gel. Just live it!

  11. So I was deleting my inbox and saw your replies to all my comments except for this post and I wondered why – my comment never showed up! I’m so sorry. I’m so glad you liked your first venture into Memebox. Warning: They are addicting LOL. I got CutiepieMarzie box 1 and loved it. Very good choice! Thankfully for my wallet, they stopped shipping worldwide. Thanks for the shoutout!

    1. Thank you, Renu!! I’m sorry you haven’t been getting my comments. I absolutely love the Memebox I got. I was disappointed to learn that they stopped international shipping, and now I think the US company is not related to the Korean company and that the boxes and brands are different. I haven’t seen any boxes I had to have since then, but I hope they will bring some more brands on board for the US boxes.
