Friday Finds: Nourish Organic Body Lotion

skincare, organic skincare

Going through one of my bags of beauty products that I’m waiting to use, I found a tube of Nourish Organic Body Lotion that I bought a few months ago in the clearance section of Ulta.

I have tried several Nourish Organics products in sample sizes that I got in various ipsy bags and I like them. I also like the fact that they’re made with natural and organic ingredients. So when I saw the Body Lotion marked down to $4.99 from $9.99, I pounced.

When I squeeze some out of the tube, this is what it looks like. Thick and rich, you’d say, right?

I’ve been using it for several days now, and it is the strangest consistency. It feels thick and rich at first, but when you rub it in, it sort of turns to a light, almost watery consistency. It’s easy to rub in. And it has a pleasant, floral-ish scent. But it is a LIGHTWEIGHT moisturizer. If your skin isn’t dry, I think this would be a perfect body lotion because it absorbs quickly and is not the least bit greasy. If that is you, you’d like this lotion a lot.

But for me, with my desert-dry skin, this product is a failure. Not nearly enough hydration for me. I’m glad I paid $5 for it instead of $10.

So the final word on Nourish Organic  Body Lotion is that it’s a good lotion for those with normal skin who need some but not a lot of hydration and are looking for a lightweight, natural lotion.

For the heck of it, I went to the Nourish Organic website to check out their product line, and they have both body butter and raw shea butter, both better choices for my dry skin. I’ll check those out instead!

Have you tried any skincare from Nourish Organic? What did you think?

  1. That sounds really interesting. It looks like it would be super hydrating but then when you explain working it in – it changes…weird! I’ve never heard of this line – where did you find it? I don’t have dry skin but this might be nice for my office desk where I want a little lotion but can’t be greasy and work with paperwork.

    1. Bought it at Ulta in the Clearance section, but it may be sold at Walgreen’s coz that’s what Shopsense shows at the bottom of my post

    1. Yes, that’s why I like the brand, but boy was this a disappointment. It was like applying water to my skin. Have you tried the Nourish Body Butter or Raw Shea Butter?

    1. This was Almond Vanilla scent, I think, but the scent was very very mild. I didn’t even realize that their products had a fragrance! I’ll look at that next time, too. I also love their natural/organic ingredients, but the products I’ve tried so far (face moisturizer & eye cream samples that I carry in my purse for emergencies) seem to be primarily for people without dry skin. I’ve gotta try the “hard stuff”: body butter and shea butter – and see if they work better for me.

  2. The consistency sounds really interesting. It’s very curious that it starts out like a heavier cream, but then morphs into a watery lightweight consistency. It sounds perfect if one is actually looking for a lightweight lotion, but less so if the expectation is getting a rich heavy cream. The scent sounds lovely! Given your dry skin (coupled with your region of the country) I can certainly understand why it isn’t the best choice for you! <3

    1. It was very strange that it seemed like such a heavy cream but it turned almost to a liquid as it was rubbed in. It would be perfect for someone with normal skin who was looking for light hydration, especially during the warm weather seasons. I definitely need to try their body butter or salves!

    1. I guess I’ve graduated from “lotion” to “body butter” from now one 😉 I’m going to try their heavier, more hydrating products because I think the brand is wonderful

    1. Definitely pass on this one, but I’m going to try the body butter and the Skin Solve and hopefully I’ll have better things to report for dry-skinned gals 🙂

  3. I know I have a Nourish serum just waiting to be used from my sub box stockpile. You have me interested in this lotion, since we’re moving into summer I could use something more lightweight. I may need to give it a try.

    1. Me, too. I generally like what I’ve tried from Nourish Organic. I saw the argan oil serum on the website, and it sound intriguing. I’m going to try the body butter and Skin Solve, and I’m sure I’ll have better results for my dry skin.

    1. That’s exactly it, Chelsea. It weirds me out, plus it doesn’t work for me. I know I’ll have better luck with their body butter.

    1. I learned about Nourish Organic from a couple of samples I got in some past ipsy bags. If you don’t need heavy hydration, you might like it, Carleen! I think it may also be sold at Walgreens in addition to Ulta.

  4. What a bummer about the consistency! I hate when lotions turn into a watery thin, useless mess. The First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream is fabulous for dry skin, and it’s free of lots of harsh chemicals. But, you know me, I had to mention a FAB product since I’m obsessed 😉 lol

    1. I have the Ultra Repair Cream, Julie, and I love it, too. But I couldn’t afford to use that on my body! It would be gone in a few days 😉 I’m going to try the Nourish Organic Body Butter, and I think it’ll suit my dry skin better.

    1. I should have and usually do post an ingredient list, Kathryne, but I’m trying to make my Friday posts shorter, instead of my usual long tome. Here they are: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Organic SDA 38B (Alcohol Denat), Organic Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Organic Theobroma Grandiflorum (Cupuaçu) Butter, Glycerin, Organic Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil, Organic Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Organic Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Organic Fragrance*, Xanthun Gum, Organic Euterpe Oleracea (Açai) Fruit Oil, Organic Soy Lecithin, Organic Lepidium Meyenii (Maca) Root Extract, Organic Symphytum Officinale (Comfrey) Root Extract, Tocopherol (Vitamin E)

    1. That’s what I think it would be good for, Nidia. I do like Nourish Organic products, just this is too lightweight for anyone with actual dry skin!

    1. I’m glad to know that you like the body butter, Amber, ‘coz I’m going to try that one next and give someone else my lotion 😉

    1. Oh, my arms and legs are pretty darn dry and Nourish Organic Body Lotion must be for people who don’t really need lotion! I’m gonna try their body butter 😉

    1. I’m going to try Nourish Organic Body Butter and their new Skin Solve and I’ll post about them. Hopefully, they’ll be better for actual dry skin!

    1. I’m glad you like him. Ducky is so cute! To be honest, I don’t think this would be good for many people unless they actually don’t need lotion at all 😉

  5. I have several skincare products from this line and sadly I haven’t used them yet. This post has reminded me that I need to jump in and get it going because I may like it.
