I’ve begun measuring time in ipsy bags. And now another month has gone by, and we’re up to the June 2015 ipsy bag: Swim Into Beauty.

It is a dreary day today, and I had some time on my hands so I decided to do an unboxing video. I haven’t done one in a few months, so why not.

For those of you who prefer to skip the video (hey, it’s less than 5 minutes) and just want to see what was in my bag, here are the goods.

First, the bag itself. Black, soft, flexible, unidentifiable fabric with “ipsy” embossed on the front of the bag. Bright red zipper with ipsy logo pull tab. Cute!

monthly beauty subscription

  • 3 sheet face masks from BioRepublic: aloe, cucumber and green tea – $14.95
  • JCat Liptitude Hydrating Lipgloss in Blow Your Mind, a mauve shade – full size, $5.99
  • The Healthy Body Butter from LaVanila in Pure Vanilla – deluxe sample, maybe $2.50 or so since the full size is $19
  • treStique Mini Shadow Crayon in Marimoto Pink Pearl – deluxe sample (full size is $26)
  • Smashbox PhotoFinish Primer – 0.25 oz. sample estimated at $8.00 (based on 0.5 oz travel size is $16)

I’m having a hard time estimating the cost of this bag because one of the items appears to be a new product that isn’t available yet – treStique Shadow Crayon and others are samples. Nevertheless, the 3 sheet masks alone take me way over the $10 that I paid for the bag plus adding in the JCat lippie brings the total to $21 for the two items.

For me, this was another really good month. I like everything I received, and I definitely will use it all. The shades of both the lipgloss and the eye crayon are good for me. In the video, I thought the Shadow Crayon was a milk chocolate color, but it’s a light pink pearl shade that will work as a highlighter as well as an eye shadow. I love the opaque, highly pigmented JCat lipgloss. Great bag!

I’ve had quite a few good months in a row from ipsy. I absolutely think that $10 delivered is still a steal for what you get! If you’re not a subscriber and would like to be, I hope you’ll use my referral code (here) to sign up.

If you are a subscriber, what did you get in your ipsy bag? And what did you think?

Oh, and today is the last day to enter my Coui Skincare UV Facial Sunscreen GIVEAWAY! If you haven’t entered and you want to, here’s the link to the giveaway post. Ends tonight at midnight. Good luck to all who entered!

    1. So you looked at what you’re getting? I haven’t done that coz I like to be surprised, lol. For $5 a piece, these better be great sheet masks!! I will use the primer, it’ll go into my beach bag to take to the beach club. I hope you get your bag soon!!

  1. My bag is different but it’s still a nice one. I got the eye crayon in a green/graphite shade. I also received a nail polish like the one on the card. I think the value was down this month but I’m happy with my new toys.

    1. Oh wow, the green/graphite shade sounds wonderful. I’m surprised they didn’t give the redhead that shade instead of pink! $15 for the masks alone sort of amazed me 🙂

  2. I got repeat items that I got last year from them, so I am in the constant struggle of do I cancel or do I keep it hehe You got some fun masks!

    1. That’s such a shame, Heather. I have never had that happen. I like everything I got this month. The eye shadow pencil and the lipgloss are fab so far!

  3. Hi Allison, I really enjoyed the video! We received pretty much the same bag this month. The only differences are my eye crayon is a deep brown & I got the IT Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil. I’m loving everything except the body butter. Fortunately, the eyebrow pencil is a really good match for me so am super excited about it. The color of the lip product is probably not for everyone but, wow, I really like it. I’ll gift the body butter to a girlfriend of mine who will love it. Thanks for sharing & making the video. 🙂

    1. Thank you sooooo much, Natalie! I am always self-conscious making these videos especially the unboxing ones where I can’t always see to read the packaging, lol. But it was fun. Thank you again for subscribing to my YT channel 🙂 I think we had similar bags last month too. I love lipgloss, and I’m so glad I got it. I heard someone else got a green/gray eye crayon & truth be told I wish I got that shade now, but the pink is pretty. I haven’t used the body butter yet, but I’m good with the scent. I’m eager to try the mask, especially at $5 a pop!!

  4. I got the same items with the exception of the body butter and face mask. Instead I got some under eye thing and a brow pencil. I’m actually really happy with this month’s selection

    1. I have some under eye pads from another brand, and I really like them! The IT brow pencil looked good but the shade wouldn’t have worked on my red brows so I’m happy with what I got too 🙂

    1. That’s so funny, Ashlyn. I’m sometimes afraid to see what others got coz I know I’ll be jealous but I like what I got this month.

  5. Love your Ipsy review esp all those face mask!! I love eye and face masks…definitely can’t go wrong with cucumber!!

  6. I really like this month’s bag and your post review. I have the same primer, eye crayon and the sheet mask like yours, Allison. It’s a real nice bag after all. I’m excited to try out the cucumber mask. First impression review will be up this weekend. xo

    1. Eager to read what you think about the mask, Sharon. At the $5 each price, I have pretty high expectations! Do you like the eye crayon so far? I wish I had gotten a deeper color because the pink isn’t showing up as well as I hoped, but I love mini-eye crayons, so I’m using it for a punch of shine over matte crayons.

  7. Ooh I love that you got a few masks in here. Thats always something that I appreciate in boxes like this because I tend to find that skincare samples are either aimed at dry or oily skin but face masks can usually be for different skin types xxx

    1. That’s true, Laura, masks can be more universal. I still haven’t tried them yet, but maybe tonight I’ll do it. I’m really curious because these masks are quite pricey, $5 each for a sheet mask! I’ve got great expectations 🙂
