Ulta Mini-Haul Summer 2015

Too Faced Love Flush blush, Becca Ultimate Coverage Concealer, Tweezerman tweezers

I got the most recent coupon from Ulta in the mail a couple of weeks ago: 10% off most prestige and 20% off on everything else. Although I didn’t neeeeeeed anything – well maybe, just one thing, I couldn’t let the discount go to waste. It was a good opportunity to pick up an item on my Wish List. Also, I ended up buying something that was a spur of the moment purchase.

So here’s what I went home with:

Too Faced Love Flush Blush

Because of my heart obsession, I had to have one of the new heart-shaped blushes from Too Faced. I chose Love Hangover, a peachy pink that I often seem to prefer. When I got it home, I saw that it is very similar to my Tarina Tarantino Blush in Feather. It comes in 6 shades, and it was a tough choice because I would have been happy with several of the shades. I’m wondering if I should exchange it for a different shade? Too Faced Love Flush Blush is very pigmented and very long-lasting. I apply it with a fan brush, otherwise it’s too bright on me. And it definitely lasts on my dry skin until I take it off.

Too Faced Love Flush Blush contains 6 g and is priced at $26 (so I was happy to get 10% off). Too Faced is cruelty-free and made in the US.

Becca Ultimate Coverage Concealer

I am always on the hunt for a better concealer. I must have at least 5 different concealers that I use for different concealing issues.

The name “Ultimate Coverage” got me. I’m always looking for a long-lasting concealer that stays put to cover my dark spots. And Becca Ultimate Coverage Concealer doesn’t disappoint. It is a heavy concealer, and it stays on for a long time. I can’t give you an exact number of hours at this point especially since I’ve been wearing it on high humidity days. It’s easy to apply and blend.

It comes in 12 shades! Because I was shopping at Ulta at night, it was difficult to choose the right shade. I started out with a shade that the MUA told me was too dark. She picked another one for me – Tahini, and it too might be a tad too dark/yellow. Maybe Butterscotch with the pink undertones would’ve been better, but it’s probably fine. What do you think?

Becca Ultimate Coverage Concealer comes in a little glass jar. It can be applied with fingers or a concealer brush. The jar contains 4.5 g/0.16 oz. and is priced at $32. Again, I was glad to get the discount. Made in the U.S.

Tweezerman Mini Tweezers

I love Tweezerman tweezers. They are so darn sharp and work so well. I have a full size pair of hot pink Tweezerman tweezers that I’ve had for about 4 years. At this point, they need to be sharpened. Supposedly, you can mail the tweezers back to Tweezerman and they’ll sharpen them. I bought this pair of mini slant tweezers so I’ll have tweezers while my regular size tweezers are being sharpened. I like the minis just as much as the full size.

For any of you who think tweezers are tweezers, they are not. I received a pair of tweezers in a recent ipsy bag, and I was so excited about getting them, but they didn’t work at all. In fact, they cut the hair in half. I threw them away. Thank goodness for Tweezerman. Worth the kinda pricey price. The mini slant tweezers were $14.

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation Early Impressions

While I was there, I tried out new Too Faced Born This Way Foundation. In fact, the MUA color matched me (I think her choice might be a tad too dark!) and applied the foundation. I went home with a sample in 3 shades, at least 2 of which are way too dark for me, because I purchased something from Too Faced.

She applied it with a foundation brush. It provided good almost complete coverage and it felt very lightweight. I liked the natural looking finish. I probably should have bought it with the discount but there are a number of new foundations I’d like to try. Too Faced Born This Way Foundation is priced at $39. Maybe I’ll wait till the next discount!

It comes in 8 shades, and I hear that more will be coming soon. Here’s what Too Faced says about it:

  • Full, undetectable coverage
  • Oil-free
  • Coconut Water helps delicately replenish skin’s moisture levels without over hydrating
  • Infused with the resilient Alpine Rose to brighten the skin’s appearance and promote elasticity
  • Hyaluronic Acid provides long-lasting, skin-balancing hydration for a smoother, more youthful appearance
  • Sulfate free, paraben free, and cruelty free.

So did you take advantage of the Ulta discount? What did you buy?

  1. I am so interested in that new Too Faced foundation. Maybe I will sample this winter. And I so agree with you on quality tweezers. I have several pairs of Tweezermans. They are the equivalent to reading glasses for me. I have them everywhere.
Love Hangover looks pinker than Feather but since our skin tones are different maybe that is why. I know you are very fair. I am somewhere between light/medium leaning more towards medium. I can use light but I look better when I mix shades. Makes foundation shopping expensive for me.
Tahini looks like when it is blended that it will be a good match for you.
    What a fun shopping trip!

    1. I wore the Born This Way Foundation sample in Vanilla yesterday, Laura, and though the shade wasn’t right for me (I should have mixed it with the next darker sample), I liked it. It was very lightweight but provided almost complete coverage over my sun damage. It’s very natural looking & I like it a lot. There will be a photo of me wearing it in tomorrow’s post. I also wore the TF Love Flush Blush and I have to put the shade right next to the TT Feather. In the pan, the Too Faced Love Hangover shade looks nothing like TT Feather which is why I bought it, but on my skin, they look pretty similar to me. However, I don’t think Ulta will let me return it just coz I picked the wrong shade, lol. Tahini is OK when it’s blended in. It pulls a bit yellow for me. I’m somewhere between fair and light, more toward light now that it’s summer, but my skin tone is decidedly pink not yellow. But under the white store lights when it was dark outside, it’s so hard to see shades as they really are! Hope you are doing OK?!

    1. Thank you, Laura! Just had a bone density test, and now I’m off to the beach to go jogging. I got a call yesterday about a market research project for the last week in August so I’ve got my fingers cross that it’ll come through!

    1. I didn’t realize how lousy a tweezer could be till I tried the one I got in my ipsy bag. It was awful! I used to use tweezers from Revlon and Maybelline and they were OK, but Tweezerman is a whole different ballgame!

    1. That’s funny, Renu! I got the green because my full size is pink. And I think I lost my pink full-size ones that I need to send to be sharpened. Why do they always go missing especially when I keep them in my mu bag??

  2. Not yet, but it’s on my list for payday. I just need to decide which color will be my first. They all look stunning.

    1. They really do, Rachel. In some ways, I wish I could go back and swap for another shade. There’s a mauve that is soooo pretty and different from the other blushes I own. I hope you find one that speaks to you!

  3. I am trying to be a good girl and not buy anything until all the Holiday sets come out 🙂 I saw on IG that they will start showing up in September so surely I can hold out that long heheh (famous last words). I love the Too Faced blush so pretty!

  4. Fun haul! I love the heart shape of this blush. So cute. If it’s quite similar to other blushes you have and there are other shades you’d like to try, I’d return it (or trade-in). It’s really pretty but also pricey so I’d want to have something fairly unique to my collection. This concealer is quite intriguing. I’m always on the look-out for a fuller-coverage concealer for dark circles. Thanks for sharing your new products!

    1. Hi Natalie! Do you think Ulta would let me exchange it for another shade? I did that with a lippie a couple of years ago, but that was a real fail. This is just a bit too similar to what I already own. What the heck, I’ll try it! It is a pretty shade. The Becca Ultimate Coverage Concealer is a really good concealer but it is heavy-duty. It may be a little too heavy for under eye, but if you’re near a store that sells Becca definitely check it out. It is full coverage and long-lasting!! Natalie, did you enter the StriVectin mask giveaway? Just checking 😉

      1. I just read their return policy and it states ” If you are not completely satisfied with a product for any reason” it can be returned. Also, it’s within 60 days. For a cash refund you must have the receipt or for store-credit without a receipt. Of course, it can be exchanged for another product/shade too. I’d give it a try. It’s not like it’s a $4-$8 product. 🙂

        1. Thank you so much, Natalie, for checking on that for me! I may take a drive over the morning, and I think I’ll go for the mauve shade instead that’ll look good with purples or maybe the nude??

  5. Isn’t BECCA packaging so sleek and pretty?! It is definitely tough to color match in store though. Thankfully my Sephora is in an outdoor mall, so I can go over the windows and color match myself, but my ULTA has an overhang and its not the same. I got a sample of the Born This Way foundation, and I’m excited to try it!

    1. Just a mini-haul, but it was fun. I am waiting on buying the Too Faced Born This Way coz there are so many new foundations out plus I need to lose my slight tan before getting a year round color match.

  6. I just got my Sephora order with one of the Too Faced heart blushes. I didn’t need it at all but I had to have the heart. I bought the pinkest shade. I have the Too Faced Born This Way in my cart but I really should go to Ulta and get it in person instead.

It’s strange but I can’t get a grip with the mini Tweezerman. But I have about 4 of the regulars since I’m always dropping or misplacing mine. I have 2 to send back. It takes a long time to get it returned but it’s an excellent service.

    1. The cute little heart would be difficult to pass up! I was surprised how long-wearing the blush is. I think you’re doing the right thing by going to Ulta to choose your shade. I heard that they’re going to be adding more shades to the lineup so I think I’ll wait and see what they are. Sorry the mini Tweezermans don’t work for you. I have little hands so I seem to be fine with it. And thanks for the warning about the time it takes to get the tweezers sharpened. Oh well. Once I find it, I’ll send it off and get the process going!

  7. Ulta has been sneaky with the coupons lately. I saw on Nouveau Cheap some other coupons that some people got and others didn’t. I wish I had gotten this one! I also want to try that Born This Way foundation – I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews! I love my Tweezerman tweezers, but I’ve also tried a brand called Effenfine that is a salon tweezer, and really liked it, too.

    1. Really? I can’t believe that Ulta is rewarding people selectively? Big mistake since word certainly travels. I haven’t heard of Effenfine probably because my salon doesn’t carry it. I’ll keep my eyes open coz I can always use another good pair of tweezers!

    1. The Too Faced blushes are extremely pigmented and last till you take them off. You’d like them, Kristina! And yes, I am going back with both to exchange the blush shade and the concealer shade!

  8. That’s my new goal ~ waiting for those discount coupons before buying. I also love Two Faced products .. I have my eye on the Natural Eyes palette, but haven’t purchased yet (still thinking about it).

    Monica.

    1. Absolutely, wait!! Or use ebates when there’s a double cash back going on. I think I have the TF Naturals palette. I haven’t reviewed it for some lame reason, and I always forget that I have it. But it is pretty!

  9. That blush shade is awesome. I hope that we get Ulta here… shipping is not free when you spend minimum to Hawaii – but it is to Puerto Rico… so I pay a lot and just rather not order sometimes.

    1. I can understand that, Honey. I hate paying shipping costs, and it is sad to be penalized for living in Hawaii. I just came back from Ulta, however, where I swapped out both the Too Faced Blush and the Becca Concealer for different shades! Now I can do another blogpost about it 😉
