The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream

Years ago, I discovered The Body Shop when I was on a business trip to London. I was amazed by the store, and I loaded up on skincare and makeup to bring home to the U.S. At the time, we didn’t have anything like The Body Shop. I mention that bit of nostalgia just to let you know that I’ve been shopping at The Body Shop for a long, long time. And the brand has certainly changed a lot over the years.

Just before we left on our trip, I received a big package from The Body Shop. They sent me a jar of The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream.

Along with the moisturizer, they enclosed the cutest throw pillow that was the perfect accompaniment to their sleeping cream. The meme made me chuckle. And how did they know it would go so well with the pillow collection on my bed?

Since we returned from Arizona, I’ve mentioned repeatedly that I’ve been on a quest to rehydrate my dried out skin. The Body Shop Oils of Life Sleeping Cream arrived at the right time. I wasn’t familiar with TBS’ Oils of Life so I read a little bit about it:

“Introducing our Oils of Life™ skin care range: Infuse life back into your skin with four revitalizing products created to nourish and bring back radiance to tired, lifeless looking skin. The power of encapsulating three precious natural seed oils into each product offers your skin true radiance. Skin feels revitalized, nourished, and radiant.”

Exactly what I needed! No surprise that I’ve been using Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream a lot. Some nights I use it after applying the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence and another serum, and other nights I go whole hog, and I apply it after the essence, serum, and then on top of StriVectin Multi-Action Restorative Cream. I want as much anti-aging and hydration as I can get!

The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream contains three precious seed oils:

  • Black cumin oil from Egypt, known for its concentration in antioxidants
  • Rosehip oil from Chile, rich in repairing Omega 3 and 6
  • Camellia oil from China, naturally rich in nutritive oleic acid.

I’m already a big fan of both rosehip and camellia oils, but I had never heard of black cumin oil. I often use cumin as a spice in cooking but I didn’t know that a skincare oil comes from cumin too.

The seed oils are combined with 7 essential oils:

  • Lavender Oil from France known for calming and sedative properties
  • Rosemary Leaf Oil from Tunisia helps prevent free radical damage and improves skin tone
  • Geranium Oil from South Africa promotes radiant skin
  • Roman Camomile Oil from Central Europe is a calming agent
  • Marjoram Leaf Oil from Mediterranean countries is used to fragrance the product
  • Orange Peel Oil from Southeast Asia revitalizes the skin
  • Lavandin Oil from Provence stimulates the fusion of elastin and collagen.

This cream is an oil-lovers dream!

It comes in an elegant looking white box and the cream is in an amber glass jar. I know some of you don’t like skincare in jars, but I’m OK with them. I use a clean scoop, and I don’t keep the jar open for long periods of time.

The Sleeping Cream is actually a butter-colored gel-cream, and I love the consistency of gel-cream.

It feels both hydrating and lightweight on my skin. When I first apply it in an upward motion on my face, neck and décolleté, it feels “wet” on my skin. You don’t need to apply a lot, and it sinks in quite quickly. It has a relatively strong but pleasant floral scent (some women described it as “earthy, spicy” but to me, it smells floral). The scent goes away once you apply it. In fact, it reminded me of French skincare products that often have a floral scent. So I was not entirely surprised when I looked at the box and saw that the product is made in France. Yet, I think you have to like fragrance, as I do, in order to enjoy this cream.

I’ve been using the Sleeping Cream several nights a week for almost a month, and it has definitely helped rehydrate and revitalize my skin. It truly does feel more hydrated in the morning! Plus I just love the consistency of the gel-cream itself. It’s especially nice to apply right after using a mask.

The Oils of Life Anti-Aging skincare line is a welcome addition to the TBS skincare lineup. Perhaps because I discovered TBS in London when I was quite young, I associate the brand with skincare for younger women. Truth be told, I hadn’t purchased any facial skincare products from TBS for years. The new Oils of Life products have changed my perception of facial skincare at TBS.

Oils of Life Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream is priced at $39 and contains 2.7 oz. (They also sell samples of the Sleeping Cream on the website for $1.) Because my skin is so dry, I read a lot of reviews online from other women with different skin types who have used the product. Women with oily and combination skin reported good reactions to the Sleeping Cream. None of the reviewers reported that the Sleeping Cream made their skin breakout. Good news!

If you weren’t familiar with The Body Shop’s Oils of Life Anti-Aging line, take a look either online or next time you stop into the store. I know I was happy to find more serious, anti-aging skincare from The Body Shop.

Lastly, purchases from the Oils of Life product line support the planting of one million seeds in Cerro Blanco, Ecuador, in association with World Land Trust to help protect biodiversity.

  17. I didn’t get this one and had hoped I would be able to try it. My skin is going through that weird eczema transition it always does as the seasons change and its going into summer here so my skin could use something like this. Oh – well, I guess I’ll have to order it online. 😉 I know if you like it, I’ll like it.
