I forgot how much I love pressed powder mineral makeup. It is so quick and easy to apply. It acts as both foundation and concealer. And it feels like silk on my skin.
How wonderful to receive a surprise package from PUR Cosmetics today with two compacts of their 4-in-1 Pressed Powder Mineral Makeup in two different shades, Light and Blush Medium! To celebrate their 10th anniversary partnership with Ulta Beauty, PUR Cosmetics has launched the Limited Anniversary Edition of their 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup and Chisel Brush.
Right off the bat, I was mesmerized by the stunning silver, bling-worthy limited edition compacts. Wow, just wow. The compacts look like a celebration all by themselves. And the soft, densely packed chisel brush makes application a breeze. Frankly, I couldn’t wait to dig in. So I snapped a few quick photos and got right to work.
Here are closer looks at the two shades: Blush Medium on the left and Light on the right:
At this age, I must wear powder foundation over primer. In fact, these days I wear all foundations over primer. So I first applied Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer. Then, I used the PUR Cosmetics Chisel Brush to apply the 4-in-1 Pressed Powder Mineral Makeup in Light, a neutral shade.
The silky powder foundation is all the things that I listed above that I look for in a powder foundation. It provided medium coverage for me because I didn’t build it up too much. I took out my concealer brush and applied more foundation where I needed it to cover my dark spots. That’s one of the things I love most about powder foundation – not needing a separate concealer! And my skin feels sooooooo soft – I have to force myself not to keep feeling my face 🙄
I think powder foundation is so perfect for hot, sticky weather like we’re still having. But because any powder foundation can emphasize my lines and wrinkles, next time I will use my heavy duty anti-aging primer from Hourglass No. 28 Primer Serum.
The PUR Cosmetics 10th Anniversary Limited Edition 4-in-1 Pressed Powder Mineral Makeup compacts are available at Ulta Beauty where they’re priced at $34 and the Chisel Brush is $25. The gorgeous silver pressed powder compacts come in 6 shades: Porcelain, Light, Blush Medium, Golden Medium, Light Tan, and Golden Dark. Check out the shades on the Ulta website to see which would best suit you. I must mention that it has SPF 15 so you may need to be sure you’re using sunscreen in your moisturizer or a separate sunscreen for more protection. The powder foundation has a very light, sweet scent that I enjoy though it fades after a few minutes of wearing it. BTW, I noticed that there was an expiration date on the box – May 2020. I thought it was useful info! PUR Cosmetics is made in the U.S., and it is a cruelty-free brand.
Since I applied my foundation, I figured I should keep going in spite of the fact that I should’ve taken a shower before I started all this. I desperately need to wash my hair. And I had just finished running a couple of miles in 83 degree weather. But who cares, right? I couldn’t wait to try this new foundation makeup! So I soldiered on and applied the rest of my makeup for a quick, casual look.

I bought BareMinerals pressed powder foundation when it first came out about 6 years ago, but I wasn’t in love with it coz I couldn’t find a good shade match. I usually don’t have time to get myself ready in the morning because I deal with getting 3 kids off to school, but would love to have a powder press, would be much easier than the liquid I am using right now. Perfect color too, cause I am more of a medium.

That is such a gorgeous compact. One year for their anniversary they did a pink blingy brush but I think the compact is even better. I’ve used this for years.

I haven’t used a pressed powder in a while. I like that the PUR powder provided good coverage for your spots – that’s my biggest concern with foundation coverage!

That compact is so pretty! I like that they offer a lighter shade than Light, I find it to be just a bit too dark on me in their other products.
Yes, sadly their fabulous Water Serum Foundation is still a bit too dark for me in Light, but this 4-in-1 powder foundation is fine. Go figure. But it’s great that it comes in Porcelain.
Unless I’m going out for an event, or doing a full on FOTD, I always wear powder. So, I was really happy to get this package from PUR. This is seriously the prettiest packaging!!

Because I’ve tried PUR Cosmetics products in the past and liked them, so I’d like to try more of their products.
I’ve also liked what I’ve tried from PUR, Colleen. Have you tried the Water Serum Foundation? Although the color wasn’t my shade exactly, I love the lightweight formula. I would Love to win this product because of my oily skin. I really have liked using them in the past once. I have been really wanting to try a powder foundation and don’t know where to lean towards. I have a very small budget since my husband left right before r 30 th Anni. He hasn’t worked in a yr and a half. Made things very hard and he bailed. It’s just my teen son and I. I am Cancer fighter/ survivor treatable not curable they say. I have been thru a lot the last almost 14 yrs. makeup has become my hobby and distraction and have so much fun meeting new ppl also. Allison, How do you manage to be pure perfection after running? The foundation suits you as always you are very lovely. Even though I have always heard that older women should stay away from powders and powder foundations because they are heavy looking and settle into lines I have been experimenting and I have to say that the powder foundations today are a far cry from our mothers. This foundation makes your skin look youthful and radiant. I would love to try it. I think it would be a good shade match for me..and if it’s not I would gift it to my sister who is a bit lighter than I am. The packaging reminds me of something that you would see in an old 1920’s movie. How cool is that?!

The day I shot these pix was humid and I think that helped me be able to wear a powder foundation. Since then, I have worn the Pur Pressed Powder Foundation over Hourglass No. 28 Primer which is a rather heavy silicone primer and that definitely makes a difference for me. I love how easy it is to apply this foundation. In fact, in spite of the glamorous 1920s “evening” compact, I like this for everyday because it’s so quick to apply.
