Julie G’s Bohemian Nail Color Collection Summer/Fall 2017

The Summer of Love was 50 years ago, 1967. 50 years! Wow, I can’t believe it! The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston has a tribute exhibit that started this past summer of poster art from that era. I haven’t seen it yet, but Jeff and I may go to the MFA on Monday. Maybe I’ll get to see it before it closes in a couple of weeks. The poster art from that era was amazing and great fun.

So I thought it was groovy that Julie G came out with a tribute Bohemian collection this summer and it’s still available now.

I love the shades, though I think I would have added an orange and a yellow to the mix.

It’s a very wearable collection of cream polishes. There are three variations on pink which kind of surprised me,

as well as three other shades.

These are my descriptions of each of the colors next to the shade names:

  • Harmony: orchid
  • Faith: mauve
  • Aria: raspberry
  • Karma: teal
  • Eden: yellow green
  • Henna: prune/deep purple-brown.

I love the look of the square bottles with the faux wood brush handles that are perfect for the period.

I found the normal size and shaped brush easy to work with. For all of the shades, I found that two coats of the cream polishes to be very sufficient for complete coverage. They didn’t take very long to dry even when I forgot to apply a quick dry topcoat afterwards.

I didn’t have any problems with any of the shades in terms of application except Henna – I got bubbles or bumps, but it may have been my fault. The others were easy peasy to use and to remove.

I always have a hard time answering how long-wearing the polishes are. Almost nothing really lasts on me. Because of the way my nails are shaped as well as all the things I do with my hands – gardening, cleaning, washing dishes, washing up etc. – I seldom get more than a couple of days before I experience tip wear, and these polishes were no different. You may do much better than I.

Taken together, the shades are Bohemian-ish. Individually, they are just pretty, wearable shades to me. I think Eden (yellow green) and Henna (prune) are perfect shades for fall. The pinks and teal shades are anytime colors IMHO.

As you know, I am not a nail blogger. I marvel at how they do that thing where they get their hand to pose in the exact same position to show off their nails and the bottle. I can’t do that. So my nail swatches will be much more random, lol.

Henna looks brown in the photo, but it’s more of a deep purple-brown in person:

Each bottle contains 0.35 fl. oz./10 ml and is priced at $3.99. It’s sold on the Jesse’s Girl website and at select Rite Aid stores.

I really like this Julie G Nail Color formula! And I love Harmony  🙂

So what do you think about the Bohemian collection? Which of these shades would you choose?

    1. Faith is so pretty. It’s so similar to one of the Zoya Naturels that I own. So far so good with the teal shade, Karma: two days and no chips or tip wear yet 🙂
