Project Pan: September 2020 Beauty Empties

September was a good month for me in terms of finishing up quite a few beauty products. Hopefully, I’ll make 100 empties in 2020 after all, if I can keep this up!

Let’s take a look.

I Bought This, PR Samples, Affiliate Links

(BTW, some of the products ended up in the wrong photo, but they’re all there somewhere!)

Bath & Body

Bath and body products are probably my favorite category of beauty products. I just love them. I love variety of the scents and the forms. I never get tired of trying new ones or repurchasing my favorites.

  • Molton Brown Muddled Plum Bath & Shower Gel: You may remember I absolutely adore the Muddled Plum. The scent is so divine. I finally allowed myself to finish up this bottle, after rationing it for quite some time. Repurchase? I have another bottle of Muddled Plum Bath & Shower Gel waiting in my stash. I truly hope that Molton Brown will bring back the limited edition Muddled Plum again for the holidays this year so I can stockpile some more.
  • Molton Brown Ylang Ylang Bath & Shower Gel, travel size: I received this bottle of Molton Brown when I complained about how difficult the cute Christmas baubles were to use; I couldn’t get the bath & shower gel to come out of 2 of the 3 round plastic balls. Ylang Ylang was the first Molton Brown Bath & Shower Gel that I tried, and I liked it a lot. Over the years, I now have others that I prefer, but Ylang Ylang is still a good one. Repurchase? Not now.
  • Farmhouse Fresh Vanilla Bourbon Body Oil: If you are fan of vanilla scents, you owe it to yourself to try FHF Vanilla Bourbon Body Oil. If I could drink it, I would because it is such a delicious gourmand scent. I wish wish wish that FHF would come out with a fragrance in the vanilla bourbon scent. Because my skin is so incredibly dry, FHF Body Oil isn’t enough for the super-dry skin on my legs, but it is fine for the warmer months of the year. Nevertheless, I often use this body oil year round for the delectable scent, and then follow up with a fragrance-free body cream. Repurchase? Yes, I did.

Skincare

  • Georgette Klinger Coconut Facial Mist: The coconut scent of this facial mist is lovely. It’s straight up coconut. Delightful. The mist itself was excellent. I used to hate spraying anything in my face, but if the mist is fine enough, I can do it. And GK Facial Mist is tolerable for me. Before I tried the Coconut, I bought and used up the Lavender Facial Mist. I prefer Coconut. Repurchase? I will, though I am finishing up another facial mist from another brand first.
  • Perricone MD Cold Plasma Plus Sub-D Neck: I received this neck cream from Influenster, and I was glad to get it because it is a pricey one. It was an excellent medium-weight neck cream that helped moisturize and tighten my neck. Repurchase? Probably not. This is priced around $100, I think, and I have several other neck firming creams that are not as expensive and work as well.
  • Honestly Margo Lip Balm: I really liked this thin fruit-flavored, highly emollient lip balm. I think I had one in another flavor before this. Repurchase? Unfortunately, Honestly Margo doesn’t seem to make this particular lip balm any more. Possibly, I may try whatever she replaced it with. But I especially liked the thin bullet of this lip balm.
  • Shiseido IBUKI Multi-Solution Gel: I’ve written about how wonderful this miraculous gel is for getting rid of the occasional blemish overnight. Such cool stuff including how it resurfaces smoothly after I scoop some out. Repurchase? I don’t understand why, but Shiseido has discontinued not only this product but the entire IBUKI collection. They decided to target very young women, and they seem to have changed up their brand completely. Bye, Shiseido!
  • Glamglow Gravity Firming Treatment Masque, travel size: This silver firming, peel-off mask that makes me look like the Tin Man is fabulous. I have been rationing this for absolutely ages till there was a sale so I could buy another. Repurchase? Yes, I bought a full size when I got a coupon from Sephora. Yay!
  • Tony Moly Green Tea Watery Cream, travel size: I got this sample or travel size little jar of Green Tea Watery Cream as a bonus along with a couple of other Green Tea products when I bought a full size bottle of my favorite Tony Moly Green Tea Essence. This was a rich, green tea-scented gel-cream. It was very hydrating and soothing. Repurchase? If I ever catch up on all the moisturizers that I already own, I would love to buy a jar of this especially for winter. We’ll see if I get there!
  • Facial sponge: I don’t remember what the brand was of this cellulose facial sponge that I bought in a pack of two or three at Ulta quite some time ago. I like using a sponge to remove my facial cleanser and masks, and this one did the trick. Repurchase? I couldn’t find this particular sponge on the Ulta website, so I bought a green sponge from EcoTools that looks very similar and is marketed as a sponge to remove facial masks. It works just as well to remove facial cleansers.

Hair

  • NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Repair Shampoo, travel size: I must write a full review of NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Repair Shampoo and Conditioner very soon. So I will wait a bit longer to tell you about the shampoo.
  • RapidBrow Serum from RapidLash: RapidBrow started me on my quest to try to even out and regrow my brows. It worked. In fact, I think I used it up ages ago because there didn’t seem to be any liquid on the wand for the last few months when I tried to use it, lol. Repurchase? In the future, I probably will. Right now, I am using City Beauty Brow Boost Redensifying Serum and I am having good results.

Makeup

  • Benefit BadGal Bang Mascara, travel size: I really like Benefit mascaras, and BadGal Bang with its long straight wand with plastic teeth that go from tiny to larger is one of my favorites. The lengthening formula that does some volumizing and the wand that’s ever-so-easy to use on my wonky lashes is almost made for me. Repurchase? I have another one or two waiting in my stash.
  • Too Faced LashGasm Mascara: This was one of my very favorite mascaras. It had a lengthening formula, and a skinny, skinny wand with small plastic teeth. It was so easy for me to use. Repurchase? Sadly, Too Faced discontinued it quite a while ago. I pretty much finished this tube up ages ago, and I must have been saving it to keep the wand to use as a lash comb.

Fragrances

  • Molton Brown Muddled Plum Eau de Toilette: Since I have already reminded you how much I adore this fragrance, I won’t belabor that point. Repurchase? Yes, I bought another bottle last year and put it away. As I said before, I hope they will bring it back this holiday season so I can buy another bottle.
  • Angel Dust by Francesca Bianchi, sample: I bought this sample from Indigo Perfumery that I need to write a post about. I bought several samples when I bought this. Angel Dust is a gender neutral fragrance with so many of the notes I love: powdery, balsamic, floral, warm and spicy, and woody. It features black pepper, rose, mimosa, iris, musk, sandalwood, tolu balsam, benzoin, and vanilla. It’s fabulous. Purchase a larger size? Hmmm, not yet. There are a couple of other samples that I bought that I also love, and they are too expensive to buy several in full size bottles. I will have to think about it and decide.
  • Miss Dior Eau de Parfum, sample: A lovely, light floral fragrance that makes me of think of spring. Purchase? Unfortunately, this isn’t my type of scent, but if you like feminine florals, you may love it.

Health & Beauty

Expired Products

  • Estée Lauder Youth Dew Body Satinée: This Youth Dew scented body cream came as part of a Youth Dew set I bought 7 years ago. Unfortunately, I put this away, and the scent “turned” over time. It is so strong that it is unwearable now. I wish I hadn’t forgotten about it.
  • Carol’s Daughter Sacred Tiare Sulfate-free Shampoo: I bought this shampoo at CVS at least 3 years ago because I wanted to try something from the Carol’s Daughter brand. It’s a creamy shampoo with a nice, fresh scent. It makes enough suds for me. It’s a good shampoo, but I only wash my hair every 4 or 5 days, and I have so many other shampoos that I just don’t reach for this one as much. I used up 2/3 of the bottle, but it is about 3+ years old and it’s time to go.
  • Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Firming Eye Cream SPF 15, travel size: I really liked this firming eye cream with some sunscreen in it. In fact, I used up a full size and a few of these travel size jars. However, it has a light floral scent, and my eyes can’t handle a scented eye cream any more. I have used up about 7/8 of the jar, and it is several years old. It’s time to go.
  • Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream, travel size: I got this in a Laneige set that I bought at Sephora a couple of years ago. It was a wonderful gel cream. I brought it over to Jeff’s a while back, and I didn’t visit enough to use it up completely. There’s only a little left, but it hardened and must be tossed. Definitely worth buying.

Like I said at the beginning, September was a good month for me in terms of using up beauty products and finally tossing expired products. I used up 16 beauty products! I started September having finished 65 beauty products, and I ended September with 81 empties. At least achieving 100 empties is in sight, since I only need 19 more empties by the end of December. And the most important part is I am cleaning out empty and old bottles and jars and making room for all my other stuff. 🙂

How about you, what did you use up in September?

  1. Good job this month and all things you like. I often toss because I stop liking something or it dries too much from lack of use. I’m at the end of my RapidBrow and am hoping to try City Beauty’s brow serum next.
