Rituals Luxury European Lifestyle Brand

I’ve been writing about Rituals, the unique European luxury lifestyle brand, for years now. A blogger friend from Lola’s Secret Beauty Blog introduced me to the brand’s Foaming Shower Gel ages ago. When I went to Holland two years ago, I discovered it was a Dutch brand.

Rituals is sold everywhere in Amsterdam including in their own stores like the original one on Kaalverstraat (above). But sadly, there are no Rituals stores here in the Boston area. Ulta carries the brand, but not in store near me. My local Macy’s carries a few of their bath and body products and sets, but nowhere close to the entire Rituals product line. Mostly, I have been shopping online on the Rituals website since Barneys NY went out of business a year ago. So the news that Sephora sells Rituals is good news for me!

Over the years, I have been working my way through the different Rituals bath and body scent collections. I’ve been using the cherry blossom scent, Ritual of Sakura, for the longest time, followed by the spicy Ritual of Ayurveda. Just recently, I received three products from the Ritual of Karma bath and body collection to try from the influencer group, Tryazon.

Rituals bath and body products (and their home products too!) are perfect to use as part of a self-care routine during these unsettling times. If you are a fragrance person like I am, relaxing at home in the bath or shower with Rituals is the way to calm down or to prepare for a busy or stressful day. Their products can truly help calm body, mind and soul – at least for a little while!

Ritual of Karma

Rituals says about the Ritual of Karma collection:

According to ancient Hindu belief, living with good intent attracts good karma. Say good words, think good thoughts, do good deeds and keep the circle positive because ultimately, you reap what you sow. The Ritual of Karma collection helps you immerse yourself in the positive vibes of summer all year round.

“Do good, and good will come your way”. What an optimistic point-of-view that we can all appreciate in the often trying days of 2020!

As a person who dreads the coming of fall with shorter days, colder temperatures and less sunshine, I am enjoying using the Ritual of Karma collection to help me continue to enjoy “the positive vibes of summer all year round”!

The key fragrance notes in the Ritual of Karma collection are sweet and slightly floral holy lotus and white tea. In fact, the scent reminds me of the Ritual of Dao collection that has been discontinued but featured white tea, I believe. Karma is a lovely follow-on replacement. The Karma scents are light, somewhat sweet and fresh!

The Ritual of Karma Collection

The three products from the Ritual of Karma collection that I tried included:

Foaming Shower Gel

Rituals Foaming Shower Gel was the first Rituals product that I ever used. It was from the Sakura collection, though back then, it was called Zensation, I think. Since then I have purchased several foaming shower gels from Sakura, two from Ayurveda, and I had one from last year’s Ritual of Dao. I have another waiting in the wings from the Ritual of Hammam. I have been using Ritual of Karma Foaming Shower Gel for the past two weeks. The light, slightly sweet, fresh scent of the Karma Foaming Shower Gel is delightful.

The way Foaming Shower Gel works is you press down on the top of the canister and a lightweight clear gel comes out. As the water hits the gel in my hand, the gel transforms into a fluffy foam.

I use the foam as a cleanser and as a shave foam. Obviously, since I have gone through so many canisters of the foam, I love it! It’s a staple in my bath and body stash. In fact, here’s the line up in my shower today!

Foaming Shower Gel contains 200 ml and is priced at $9.50. All three scents are divine. I am so happy to add summery Ritual of Karma Foaming Shower Gel to my options 🙂

Ingredients: Aqua/Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Isopentane, Sorbitol, Isopropyl Palmitate, Parfum/Fragrance, Isobutane, PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate, Sodium Benzoate, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Leaf Extract, Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Extract, Citric Acid, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Glycerin, Sodium Chloride, Potassium Sorbate, Sorbic Acid, Tocopherol, Benzyl Salicylate, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Limonene, Linalool, Hexyl Cinnamal, Citronellol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Citral.

Body Scrub

I was excited to get to try Rituals Body Scrub for the first time. The Ritual of Karma scent in the Body Scrub was a little different from the other two Karma products that I tried. It has a freshness to the scent, almost a citrus note, that makes it a revitalizing body scrub.

The scrub itself is comprised of sugar crystals to slough off dead and rough skin. These sugar crystals don’t have uncomfortable rough edges that some brands have. The crystals are suspended in a rich, viscous liquid that hydrates and gives my skin lasting protection. My formerly rough elbows have been smoothed, softened and revitalized!

And by the way, it doesn’t make the floor of my shower greasy or slippery. Yay!

The frosted aqua jar with the gold top of Ritual of Karma Body Scrub contains 250 grams and is priced at $16.50.

Ingredients: Sucrose, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Isopropyl Myristate, Carthamus Tinctorius Hybrid Oil, Persea Gratissima Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Parfum/Fragrance, Argania Spinosa Oil, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Hybrid Oil, Camelia Sinensis Extract, Nelumbo Nucifera (Lotus) Flower Extract, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Benzyl Salicylate, Citral, Citronellol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Limonene.

Body Cream

The Ritual of Karma Body Cream is a luxurious, rich white cream enhanced with holy lotus and white tea.

My desert-dry skin truly appreciates this nourishing and super-hydrating cream. Although the cream is rich and thick, special technology makes it easy to apply, quickly absorbed by the skin, and greaseless.

It smells delightful as I blend it in, but the light scent doesn’t linger. If I wish to wear a different perfume afterwards, it does not interfere.

Most important, Ritual of Karma Body Cream is long-lasting. If I put it on in the morning, it is still there at night. In fact, I can still feel it the next morning. This will be my go-to body cream this autumn.

The Rituals of Karma Body Cream  attractive heavy plastic aqua jar with the gold top contains 220 ml and is priced at $22.50. Another good thing about Rituals is that you can buy a refill for the Body Cream that you can pop right into your original jar.

Ingredients: Aqua/Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Propylheptyl Caprylate, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Undecane, Tridecane, Camelia Sinensis (Leaf) Extract, Nelumbo Nucifera (Lotus) Flower Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Hybrid Oil, Centella Asiatica Extract, Allantoin, Ubiquinone, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol, Glyceryl Stearate, Ceteareth-20, Ceteareth-12, Cetyl Palmitate, Isohexadecane, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Polyacrylate, Caprylyl Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Carbomer, Parfum/Fragrance, Benzyl Salicylate, Citral, Citronellol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Alpha-IsomethylIonone, Limonene, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Sorbic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide.

So prolong the feeling of summer with the Ritual of Karma. Or as you start to plan for holiday gifts, think of the soothing, revitalizing, good karma-inducing Ritual of Karma bath, body and home products with holy lotus and white tea. And check them out at Sephora! In addition to the individual products, Sephora carries the Ritual of Karma Try Me Set, the Medium Set and the Large Set.

  1. Nice! I can always use a good body scrub & I had never heard of foaming shower gel before! COOL! I’ve heard of Rituals, but never tried – now it’s all the more easier to add it to my cart at Sephora!

  2. What a great brand for Sephora to start carrying; their prices are reasonable and they’ll be available when you have a discount. I’ve only tried one Rituals product and even for someone who isn’t a big fan of fragrance, I found it to be terrific.

    1. At first, I was surprised that you said that you were able to use the Rituals product that you tried, but when I thought about it, some of the collections and products have light scents that don’t linger.

  3. Ritual of Karma scent description sounds divine and like something I need to experience. Now to choose which products to try out first!

  4. I just received this collection and already loving the products! Such a fan of their body butter too, I feel like they’re among the few body moisturizers I actually manage to finish.

  5. That body scrub looks amazing and I love that it doesn’t leave a greasy residue in the bottom of the tub…I’m the worst about giving my boyfriend a heads up after using oily products in the shower!

    1. I’m glad that RITUALS is now at Sephora too coz my purchases will definitely help me get more points. I am hoping it will be carried in my local store since Ulta only seems to have it online and Macy’s doesn’t carry the full line in store.
