Project Pan Update: November 2020

In November, I used up so many products that I haven’t had time to post about them. But I must get this up, perhaps with less chit chat about each one of them, because I am homing in on my end of year goal!

I Bought This, PR Samples, Affiliate Links

Skincare

Derma E Hydrating Night Cream: With hyaluronic acid and green tea, this rich, gentle, white night cream is one of my favorites. I am so happy I rediscovered this jar. Repurchase? I have another jar in my stash.

L’Oreal Age Perfect Golden Eye Balm: I used L’Oreal Revitalift eye cream for decades before I became a blogger. Some time ago, I bought this Age Perfect Golden Balm. I hadn’t realized that I had just about used it all up. Repurchase? I didn’t like the super-thick texture of this eye balm that came in a small jar. Looks like L’Oreal revamped it, and it looks promising. It’s now called L’Oreal Age Perfect Eye Renewal, and it comes in a pump. I definitely will consider trying it.

Beauty Tools

Ecotools Mask Remover Sponge: I use this “mask remover” sponge as a regular sponge to remove cleanser as well as masks. It does a good job. Repurchase? I still have one more in the pack.

Amope Extra Coarse Foot File Cartridge Refills: I still adore my Amope Foot File, and since I discovered it needed new batteries that I have since replaced, I love it even more. The extra coarse cartridges usually last me a couple of months, but I think I pulled the plug on this cartridge a little too soon thinking it had dulled when it was really that my Foot File needed new batteries. Oh well. Repurchase? I already did.

Nails

CVS Beauty 360 Advanced Nail Polish Remover: Even though I have Zoya’s Big Flipper Nail Polish Remover, sometimes it’s just easier to stick my fingers in the jar and swish off the polish. So I always have a jar of some kind of CVS brand nail polish remover around. Repurchase? Yes, I did.

Hair

Derma E Scalp Relief Shampoo: Although I don’t have dandruff or an itchy scalp, I really like Derma E Scalp Relief Shampoo. It smells minty and it feels tingly in a pleasant way on my scalp. Repurchase? Although I have another bottle of this, I am currently using Olaplex No. 4 Moisturizing Bonding Shampoo to try to fix my burnt hair.

Bath & Body

Mitchell and Peach English Leaf Body Cream, travel size: I rediscovered Mitchell and Peach Body Cream a couple of weeks ago. I had received this travel size tube in one of my Ipsy bags. It is non-greasy, very hydrating, smooth with no white cast with a light, inoffensive scent that disappears quickly. Repurchase? Although I liked this body cream, I have so many others to use up. While it’s a good product, I don’t need more body cream.

BeeSpa Luxury Body Cream: BeeSpa body products have been a good discovery. I liked this light yellow, slightly sweet, lightweight, non-greasy body cream. Repurchase? Not now. I would say its lightweight character suits my dry skin better in the warmer seasons. But I recommend it highly if you don’t need a heavy body cream like I do.

Molton Brown Muddled Plum Body Lotion:  You already know that I adore the scent of limited edition Molton Brown Muddled Plum products including Muddled Plum Shower Gel. My only complaint about the Molton Brown body lotion is that I wish it were richer with longer lasting hydration for my ultra-dry skin. Repurchase? In spite of it not being quite moisturizing enough, I have repurchased a couple of bottles of Muddled Plum Body Lotion because layering it with the shower gel and eau de toilette makes the scent last longer.

Cela Creme Rose: To be honest, I wasn’t sure if natural and organic Cela Creme Rose is supposed to be used on my face or my body. So I made the executive decision to use it at night before bed on my dry legs and feet. It was a medium weight pink cream that unfortunately doesn’t smell like rose, even though rose is in its name. It kinda smells like candy. Repurchase? I got this in one of my Ipsy bags this fall, and I liked it. But truth be told, I was not a fan of the scent, so no.

Farmhouse Fresh Steeped Milk Lotion, Honey Chai, mini: I rediscovered a triple set of products from Farmhouse Fresh recently. I used up lightweight and yummy scented Honey-Chai Steeped Milk Lotion. Honey-Chai is one of my favorite scents from FHF. Repurchase? I am on the fence. I wish I could find a place locally to buy FHF. In order to get free shipping, you have to spend over $50, boo. Plus FHF just about never has percent off sales. Instead, they give you a bonus product if you spend over $75 or $80. As much as I love their products, it’s too much to spend.

Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm: This is at least the 5th tube of Dr. Lipp balm that I have used up over the years. For my dry lips, Dr. Lipp’s Original Nipple Balm or the Miracle Balm are the most effective. Made with 100% medical grade lanolin, it coats my lips and stays on for hours and actually heals the chapping. Repurchase? I am not sure what to do. I just got a 3 pack of Dr. Lipp color lip balms called Superfood Tints in my Ipsy Plus bag a month ago. The Superfood Tints formula is slightly different from the Miracle Balm in that it isn’t 100% lanolin but it has other stuff in it that make it a bit less effective at healing. I will probably cave and buy the Miracle Balm.

City Lips Clear from City Beauty: I go through tubes of City Lips Clear like crazy. It is just as hydrating as Dr. Lipp for my dry lips. Plus it’s great over or under drying matte lipsticks. Repurchase? Yes, I did. I always stock up when they have their 40% off, or BOGO sales. BTW, as of Sunday, City Lips had a BOGO sale.

The Farmer’s Daughter Eggwhite Facial Soap from Belgium: I just finished up the second bar of Eggwhite Facial Soap from Belgium that I bought at a cool shop in Savannah GA when Jeff and I went there in summer 2018. I loved this mild facial soap. Repurchase? I will once I make a dent in all the soap I currently have. It was so gentle, so pure, a delight!

Makeup

Milk Makeup Kush High Volume Mascara: I got this travel size Kush Mascara in my Sephora birthday gift this year. Though I usually go for lengthening formulas rather than volumizing, I really fell for this one. Even the large fluffy bristled applicator is totally different from the small applicators with plastic teeth that I usually prefer. Go figure. Repurchase? Yes, I bought one during the Sephora sale a month ago.

BareMinerals Lash Domination Mascara: At the end of February just before the pandemic lockdown started, I was visiting friends at their ski house in northern New Hampshire. After Jeff and I arrived and he brought in all of the gear we brought with us, I noticed that we left my suitcase behind and all I had were the clothes on my back and the items in my purse. Ugh. I got my friend to drive me to a TJ Maxx a couple of towns away so I could buy underwear, a toothbrush, a nightgown and a clean shirt, and I picked up this mascara while I was there. It was my standard lash lengthening mascara, and I liked it. Repurchase? It has been discontinued.

Urban Decay Anti-aging Primer Potion, travel size: UD AAPP last me forever, and I have been buying it for years. It is a good eye primer. However, I still preferred the old formula that was opaque and didn’t have an applicator. Repurchase? I already did, but truth be told, I think my exclusive relationship with UD AAPP is over because I would prefer a primer that would cover my discolored eyelids.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Love Lipstick in shade, Strapless: I absolutely loved this creamy, satiny Pure Color Love Lipstick from EL that I got in one of my first Ipsy Plus bags a couple of years ago. The mauve shade was perfect for me, and the creamy hydrating formula was a delight to wear. Repurchase? I am on the fence about it. I don’t usually buy Estee Lauder because it isn’t cruelty-free. Even though I loved the formula, eventually what was left of the creamy bullet pulled off of the case and became unusable. So I will probably pass.

The Eday Group Lip Stain/Lip Gloss Duo in Wallbanger: I got this lip stain/gloss duo in an Ipsy bag ages and ages ago. I forgot I had it. I had used up all of the red lip stain and almost all of the gloss. Repurchase? It turns out that The Eday Group used to make a brand called Liptini that I got several times in my regular Ipsy bag years ago. It doesn’t seem like their brands/company still exists.

Fragrance

Molinard Ambre EDP from Scentbird: Scentbird sends out 30 day supply spray bottles of scents, and I used this one up quickly. The Ambre scent definitely suited me. Repurchase? At some point, I will buy Molinard Ambre and I hope it doesn’t disappear before I get to it. I’ve been on a tear buying perfume lately, so this will have to wait. If you are a fan of amber scents, I heartily recommend it!

Francesca Bianchi Angel Dust, sample: I used up a 1 ml sample of indie brand Francesca Bianchi Angel Dust, a lovely oriental scent. Repurchase? I just bought a full size bottle of her scent, Under My Skin, that was also divine, so I will have to wait to get a full bottle of Angel Dust. Both the Francesca Bianchi website and the Indigo Perfumery website sell samples and Discovery Sets of her gorgeous scents. Try them! I wish I had known that Francesca Bianchi is a Dutch brand because I definitely would have bought it when I was in Amsterdam.

Samples

I used up a whole bunch of sample packets of skincare products, but I forgot to take notes on them so I guess I will skip them since I can’t remember the specifics, lol.

Expired Products

Farmhouse Fresh Honey Foot Glaze, mini: This cute Honey Foot Glaze mini came in the same FHF trio as the Honey-Chai Body Lotion. I loved the Honey Foot Glaze that was perfect to use on my heels after I used my Amope Foot File. But as usual, after using up two-thirds of it, I put this away temporarily and forgot about it. Now it seems like the formula changed. The color has darkened and it is runnier than I remember it. So out it goes. Some day, I may buy this one.

BECCA Backlight Priming Filer: I think I got this shimmery primer in an Ipsy bag. I hope I didn’t buy it. Although it is pretty and it does give my face a glow under foundation, it is rare that I would use it. There are other primers that do a better job camouflaging my fine lines etc. I feel guilty tossing a tube that is 2/3 full, but that’s the way it goes.

Totals

In terms of my Project Pan totals, I ended October with 99 products used up. This month, let’s say I used up 19 products counting the trio of Farmhouse Fresh mini jars since I used up the first jar of whatever it was a while ago, the Honey Chai body lotion, and 2/3 of the Honey Foot Glaze that has now “turned”.

That brings my total to 119 products used up so far in 2020. My goal had been 130 products, I think. Although I have used up a few products already in December, I am not certain I can get to 11 more. Nevertheless, I think I’ll get close since I have a few more empties finished up in December and time to finish a few more!

How about you? What did you use up in November that you loved?

  1. You did an enviable job finishing things up in November, Allison! I am off to a very slow start for December, and have a feeling that my December Empties will be very unimpressive!

  2. You are so close to that goal. If you don’t quite reach it I wouldn’t feel bad. 2020 is a year unlike any other. Who even had time to use up makeup??

    1. I hit pan on a MAC Paint Pot and on a ColourPop blush. This year, I have used so little makeup, but I have used up two lipsticks – though it took a couple of years!

  3. That’s impressive! I’ve managed to use a lot of skincare products this year (I’ve really been trying!) but next to no makeup other than what I’ve purged.
