National Lipstick Day City Lips Sale & My Current Lip Faves

Last year, I don’t think I even acknowledged National Lipstick Day because what was the point? It just made me sad. Though I have started wearing a mask indoors again, this year I still have more opportunities to wear lipstick than I did. Oh, happy day!

City Lips and City Lips Matte Sale!

My all-time favorite lipgloss and plumper, City Lips and its sister City Lips Matte are both 30% off with the code LIPS30 today and tomorrow in celebration of National Lipstick Day. There’s also free U.S. shipping if you stock up on two or more. The collagen and hyaluronic acid rich formula that heals dry lips and plumps without the sting long ago won my heart 🙂

Both City Lips and City Lips Matte come in a range of shades. The tubes below and the red in the photo above are just three of the lovely matte shades.

I am just about at the bottom of my City Lips Clear that I wear to bed every night to keep my lips hydrated and healthy, so I am going to check my stash to see if I need to restock.

My Current Lip Faves

In addition to City Lips, I have a number of other lipsticks, balms and glosses that I am favoring these days. In case you’re looking for some ideas, here’s what I am reaching for.

SaTrell Beauty Lipgloss, Sparkle: I reviewed SaTrell Beauty Sparkle lipgloss yesterday, and I mentioned that I LOVE the viscous, non-sticky, hydrating, long-lasting formula. I’ve been wearing it alone when I’m at home during the day, and I also like it on top of my colored lipsticks especially on top of lipsticks that are slightly matte.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lipgloss, shade Caramel: When it comes to opaque lipgloss, I haven’t found anything better than ABH’s opaque glosses. Caramel is a beautiful soft pink-browm shade that’s great for everyday. I must love it because I have been wearing it for at least three years. I think I’m on my third tube. Now, I just wish ABH would come out with a true red opaque.

Rubber Ducky Vanilla Lipscreens SPF 44: Prior to meeting Rubber Ducky, I never had a lip balm with more than SPF 25. In fact, most of the lip balms with sunscreen I owned were SPF 15. Not only do I love that I get more sun protection with Rubber Ducky, I love the vanilla flavor.

Wayne Goss Luxury Cream Lipsticks: A couple of months ago, I bought two of the Wayne Goss lipsticks that came out in 2020. I love the lightweight hydrating formula. I bought Lily, a neutral pink shade as well as Carnation, a mulberry shade that leans a bit red. Both have a satin finish. Check ’em out if you haven’t already. These went from being out of stock on Beautylish last night, but today they’re back in stock and on sale for 30% off ($19.60) for National Lipstick Day through July 30.

Haus Laboratories Sparkle Lipstick: What is it with me and lip products named Sparkle? Lady Gaga’s makeup brand Haus Laboratories (reviewed here) introduced just one lipstick, Burlesque, and for me, it is a real winner. Red with gold shimmer. Even the magnetic case is terrific. Like so many lipsticks these days, the formula is lightweight so that you don’t even know you’re wearing it. I wish there were other shades in the line since I can’t wear red with gold shimmer every day.

Doll 10 T.C.E. Lipstick: I haven’t had a chance to review the Doll 10 Beauty Makeup Miracles collection that I bought from Doll 10 about a month ago, but I will soon. “No Boundaries”, rose pink, hydrating, lightweight lipstick with a glossy finish is another recent fave. Also, I am having a pink moment this summer, a nice addition to my everyday mauve lineup. I think this particular pink is just perfect! Unfortunately, “No Boundaries” is sold only as part of the Makeup Miracles collection (not that you won’t want the entire collection!)

My favorite lip products seem to fall into two camps: lipglosses and lightweight, hydrating lipsticks. Since liquid mattes and even matte lipsticks are not for me, I am so relieved and happy that hydrating lipsticks are back!

What are some of your favorite lipsticks? What are you wearing on National Lipstick Day?

  1. I’ve been using CityLips clear since you recommended it years ago, in rotation with Lansinoh lanolin cream (which I think you also might’ve mentioned), which is an amazing product that’s marketed as a nipple cream for nursing mothers. I recently started wearing Color The World lipsticks, which I LOVE for many reasons, among which are their super creamy, non-feathering quality, ecological packaging, long wearing, great colors and price. They’re having a big sale today (sadly I just bought another one last week) if you go to this website: https://colortheworldlipsticks.com/?utm_source=Customers+that+have+either+click+or+opened+an+email+%28all-time%29+but+not+in+last+14+days&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=National+Lipstick+Day%3A+50%25+off+%3F+sale+%3F+%28YvV5Pz%29&_kx=eFEOBnxtMvc2hheA_xNcr797oLDGsxY1JwVHyW5eYdY%3D.JGyMq4&_ga=2.194292906.664103345.1626815284-1126385199.1626815284%26_gac%3D1.225424744.1626815284.Cj0KCQjw6NmHBhD2ARIsAI3hrM15ov1nX9le5lG0h82dZ17tRUNviYxCw7g3NUoWjNvMGTLKsbG15tEaAudcEALw_wcB

    1. The Color the World lipsticks sound great, Amy! And I love their pretty and ecological packaging, like Tarte’s. Thank you for the link! I haven’t tried the lanolin lip balm you mentioned, but I use Dr. Lipp’s Original Nipple Balm that’s also 100% medical grade lanolin.

  2. These are some beautiful colors! I am interesting in get some of the Rubber Ducky children Lipscreen for my great niece. I have never stopped wearing a mask in stores. Felt uncomfortable at first but when I looked around there were people of all ages wearing mask.

    1. I think your great-niece would love the Rubber Ducky lipscreen especially if she’s a fan of vanilla! Today, I took the train to Boston and thank goodness masks are still required on the train where everyone (there were hardly any riders) seemed to comply. On the subway, it was a different story. Though masks are also required, so many people were wearing them under their nose or under their chin. It was as if they had them somewhere on their face in case they saw a cop or a transit worker. Ugh. On the street in Boston, very few people were wearing masks, but I did what I had to in town and then went right back home.

      1. Zadaya is a fan of anything that makes her lips feel good. She get dry lips in the winter and sometimes in summer with so much time outside. Will have to get her some of these. I just shake my head when I see people with their nose out of the mask. With the way some states are fighting mask/shots, other states are going to say they don’t wan people from those states in there state. I hate to think/say it but I feel that we are going to end up in another lock down if more people don’t get the shots.

        1. What a beautiful name, Zadaya! I hope she will like the lipscreens when you get them. On the other topic, I was talking to a friend of mine this morning who goes skiing in Vermont. She teaches skiing there, too, even though she lives in Massachusetts. She’s worried that Vermont will close their borders again this winter because of the Delta variant, and if they do, you can’t blame them. When I am driving around my area, I get nervous when I see license plates from Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Texaas. We were doing so well in MA before this.

          1. Thanks Zadaya (4) is special to all of us, it has been a long time since we had a little one around. I understand about the borders at one time WV was on the list not welcome. If I was Georgia I would be closing the border to Florida. Some of these governors and people I just don’t understand. They want their freedom to do what they want and I guess that includes dying. I live in a college town and students are coming back from every where. Me I am staying close to home and wearing that mask. 🙂

          2. Me too, Gloria, but the college is probably smaller than the one near you. Nevertheless, when the kids come back, the number of positive cases are starts going up. Take care! Hopefully, this will be over one day

    1. I don’t see how anyone can lose with the Rubber Ducky lipscreen. Affordable, yummy, high spf, and choice between traditional and mineral. Yay!

  3. You have such great taste in lipsticks. The Anastasia gloss looks like an especially pretty color. I like these lighter shades for summer.

      1. ABH also has a gorgeous pale nude-mauve liquid lipstick called Pure Hollywood. Definitely one of my favorites!

  4. I celebrated today with a look comprised of dark blue and teal liquid lipsticks with a sparkly green lip topper!
