Gifting Galen Leather Co. Items

PR Sample, Affiliate Links

June means graduations, Father’s Day and vacations. Gifting. The perfect time to introduce you to Galen Leather Company.

I am a big fan of leather accessories. I always have been. If I want things that last, leather is the material I turn to. Leather purses, wallets, card holders, passport holders, change purses, folios. You name it I have it in leather.

When I was offered the opportunity to try a leather accessory from Galen Leather Company, I thought it would be a perfect brand to write about for gifting for graduations, wedding parties, Father’s Day or to take along on a trip.

Another reason I was interested in Galen Leather Co. is that the company is from Turkey. Jeff and I have been on a binge during the past year where we have been watching lots of Turkish TV on Netflix and Amazon Prime: Ethos: Bir Başkadır, Atiye: The Gift (seasons 1 & 2, skip 3), The Club, and Midnight at the Pera Palace. I love the sound of Turkish, and some of the stories are quite good. And I also love Turkish food. We went to a terrific Turkish restaurant on 57th Street in New York in April, ABA Turkish Restaurant. Yum. So why not experience Turkish craftsmanship?

Galen Leather Company

First, Galen Leather Company is a family business based in Istanbul. Although the company is only 10 years old, it comes across as a company that has been in business for centuries, or at least decades. They craft products from natural materials: leather, wood and brass.

The leather products are handmade, hand stitched, and fabricated from well-aged leather. In a world where everything is going digital, it is wonderful to get stationary products that can be held in one’s hands and appreciated, products that will last.

Leather Slim B6 Notebook Cover

There are loads of leather products to choose from at a variety of price points from $29 and up. I selected Leather Slim B6 Notebook/Planner Cover in Crazy Horse Navy Blue. It arrived in a very attractive gender-neutral gift box that I know I will save to store my notebook cover when I’m not using it.

I wanted a notebook cover that was small enough to take with me for work or for travel. Leather Slim B6 Notebook Cover measures 5.5″ x 7.7″ when closed.

Open, it measures 11.6″ x 7.7″.

The back is tastefully stamped with the Galen Leather Co. logo.

The notebook cover can be used to carry and protect a pad of paper. You can buy the perfect size pad of paper from Galen, and I wish I had done that. I thought I had a pad of paper that would fit, but I don’t. I picked up a pad at the store, but I didn’t have the cover or its dimensions with me, so I bought the wrong size. Oh well. I’ll get it right!

The B6 Notebook Cover can easily be used for travel. There are slits on both side of the inner cover that are perfect for holding tickets. And the sleeves can hold my passport and other important documents. There’s a pen holder at the right side.

I had a hard time choosing the color because all the options were so beautiful. Finally, I settled on the distressed navy blue made from 100% vegetable-tanned cow hide leather. The leather feels so soft and smooth yet very sturdy. I can tell it will get even better with age, and will last forever.

The Leather Slim B6 Notebook Cover is priced at $39, and it is well worth the price. You can have it personalized if you choose.

If you’re looking for a lasting gift, check out the Galen Leather Co. website. In addition to the Notebook Cover I chose, they have all different kinds and sizes of notebook covers, portfolios, zippered notebooks, zippered pen cases, leather tote bags, writer’s bags, calligrapher’s bags, wallets, keychains, fancy fountain pens, desk accessories, and a beautiful leather dopp kit in Crazy Horse Tan that would make a wonderful Father’s Day gift. They ship worldwide.

  1. Thanks for the heads-up about Turkish movies, Allison. I enjoy watching content from different cultures and have added your recommendations to my list.

    1. I’m glad you found the list of Turkish shows useful, Cynthia! I like foreign movies and series too. I think Ethos was my favorite, though The Gift, kind of cheesy though it was, was really fun to watch (the first two seasons). LMK if you like any of them or if you find any that I should try watching. This might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but did you watch the Israeli series, Shtisel?

      1. I LOVED Shtisel! It is definitely my cup of tea. Did you watch Unorthodox? Another good one. There is so much to learn about other cultures just from watching videos from my couch. Fauda is another Israeli series I enjoyed. Happy viewing, Allison.

        1. Yes, I loved Shtisel, and am still sad that it’s finished. I read the book, Unorthodox, a couple of years before the movie came out, and I preferred it to the movie that took liberties with the story…but then, the author of the memoir was a somewhat unreliable narrator as well. I didn’t see Fauda because I have a hard time with the violence, but Jeff really liked it. I read The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem, so I will probably watch that too. I just noticed on a list of Turkish TV series that there’s a Turkish version of Call My Manager, so I may give that one a try coz I enjoyed the French version.

  2. Hi, Allison – This sounds like the most wonderful and useful gift idea I’ve heard lately…and so many options to choose from within this one company! Sounds great for Father’s Day. I might also get something for my brother’s birthday. 🙂 Thanks – Angie, http://www.yourtrueselfblog.com

    1. you’re welcome, Angie! I love my notebook cover. Now I just have to find the right size paper, lol. Their products make handsome gifts.

  3. I wouldn’t have an idea of what to order at a Turkish restaurant but it sounds interesting. Fine leather goods like these are ideal and make wonderful gifts.
