Do You Rakuten?

Although I wrote about Rakuten back when it was Ebates and I mention it from time to time when I’m doing a product review, I wanted to remind you about this cash back system.

How Rakuten Works

If you activate the Rakuten app or extension when you shop online at over 3500 retailers, you get a percentage cash back that ranges from 1-about 12%, maybe more. You can also get cash back when you shop in person by selecting an offer and linking the offer to a linked credit card. You can also use Rakuten when dining at participating restaurants.

The percentage cash back changes by retailer and changes every few days. Around holidays, the percentage tends to go up. There are promotions with double cash back every now and then .

At the end of every 3 months, the money accrued from your purchases is either sent to you in a check or transferred to your linked PayPal account.

I added the Rakuten extension to both of the search engines that I use, so that it kicks in whenever I make an online purchase on my desktop or laptop. I have a Rakuten app on my phone.

This morning, I decided to check my account. I was shocked when I saw that I have earned $612.74 since I joined back in November 2014. At first, I thought it might be a mistake, but it was not. Wow, even though it was over 7+ years, that’s still quite a bit of money to get back!

If you are a frequent online shopper, I encourage you to join. Joining is free. I believe you get a bonus cash back when you sign up. Once you join, you can also get $30 for each friend you refer if they sign up. If you would like to join, I hope you’ll consider joining through the link on the home page of Never Say Die Beauty. Happy shopping and very happy cash back!

    1. Rakuten has been good for me. It pays out 4 times a year, so the $612 was the total of the cashback I’ve gotten from them over the years

  1. I love Rakuten. I just wish I could go through on Amazon with it (though I use my Amazon cc and get money back). Prior to Covid I looked forward to my 4x per year payoff. Now mine are slow since I don’t shop as much. But I always always check.

    1. Yes, it’s a shame that Amazon doesn’t participate, but I’m not surprised. I’m glad you get benefits from the Amazon credit card, though.
